Super happy for this. There are few shows like this anymore. A lot of people crave darker themes in their movies these days. There's a place for those movies for sure and I enjoy some of them, however, I prefer to balance that with something positive and have that option. There are enough horrors in our real world without just having the option to watch darker shows. Of course I can just tune out the tv altogether but .... yeah.

Perhaps not renewed yet? I couldn't find anything on it being cancelled.

To me, it seems like Apple would be foolish to cancel anything right new. Any new productions will be even more delayed and they must be starved for content and certainly not in need of saving money.
For All Mankind is a great show also.

Be curious to hear what some of our friends across the pond think of it. I found it pretty amusing. The actual football scenes were a bit cringeworthy at times, but most sports fiction is like that.

Wonder if they picked anyone up in the transfer window.... Or maybe Apple needs to relocate it to Spain; heard Barca needs some new upper level management. Each season, a new league.

Hmm, people are raving about it, so I'll give it a go.

So far I've given Apple TV shows a bit of a go, and it's been disappointing.

For All of Mankind - nice idea, started great, then got meh, and also full of annoying preachy minority equality stuff.

See - was ok, started interesting, but got boring and too nonsensical in the end.

The Morning Show - first 9 episodes were interesting and seemed to offer a balanced collection of viewpoints of the issue from all angles, but then the season finale was such a flop. I can't work out if the metoo, ultra feminist crowd took over the writing, or if that was satirical and was meant to smack you in the face with the hypocrisy of how all the men got strung up, but all the women got off for free. Here's my summary:
Men who hit on women at work: creeps
Women who hit on men at work: adorable (but probably victims, needs to be checked)
Men who get hit on by women at work: sweet guys (but probably creeps, needs to be checked)
Women who get hit on by men at work: victims
Men who know what "crimes" have gone on and do nothing: creeps
Women who know what "crimes" have gone on and do nothing: victims
Men who report such "crimes": creeps
Women who report such "crimes": victims

This will almost definitely be the best news I read today. Really enjoyed the original NBC Sports sketches and was absolutely shocked the writers/producers made an amazing show inspired by them. Ted Lasso is easily my favorite show of the year, thus far.
I found this out this week, but Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) is actually the creator and writer of the original characters and sketches along with Jason Sudeikis. Hunt also wrote some of the series along with Brett Goldstein (aka Roy “He’s every f***ing where” Kent).

From Hunt’s Wikipedia
In 2013, Hunt co-wrote a Premier League advertising campaign for NBC Sports featuring himself as an assistant coach to Tottenham Hotspur with Jason Sudeikis.[14] Sudeikis told GQ magazine that the two drew off their years in Amsterdam playing the FIFA (video game series) together before and after shows.[15]

So NBC hired Hunt & Sudeikis to create the promos which gave us Ted Lasso, that NBC owned the rights for. Apple bought the rights to the characters from NBC and then hired the original writers/actors to turn it into a show. That’s why it feels so true to the original promos.

I liked the show a lot although I'd question that it is a comedy. More like a show that has some humorous elements in it.

Might be a bit bold of then to do a third season without airing season 2 yet. The question remains as to where this can go long term. It's really been a play on Major League in concept... can that play out for multiple seasons or ??

I didn’t enjoy it very much, light and watchable. It is just a question of taste, but instead For All Mankind is a masterpiece for me.
I was shocked how much I liked it. I love For All Mankind as well. I also really like The Morning Show and am looking forward to a few of the others I have not started yet.

Apple has renewed Apple TV+ show "Ted Lasso" for a third season due to its popularity with both viewers and critics. According to Apple, critics have called the series "terrific," "hilarious," "heart-swelling" and "infectious," with the show earning an 86 percent on ratings site Rotten Tomatoes.

"Ted Lasso" is a comedy series that stars actor and Saturday Night Live alumnus Jason Sudeikis. Sudeikis originally played the Ted Lasso character for the 2013 NBC Sports English Premier League coverage.

The ‌Apple TV‌+ series revives the original Ted Lasso character, with Sudeikis playing a small-time college football coach from Kansas that's hired to coach a professional soccer team in England even though he has no experience coaching soccer.

Apple renewed "Ted Lasso" for a second season just a week after the series initially premiered, and 10 episodes of the first season are now available. The second season, which will also include 10 episodes, is set to begin filming in London in early January.

Love the show and am a huge English Premier watcher. Anyone else find some of the English accent hard to follow at times?

I mentioned this exact thing over in the show discussion thread. I can really only see it going 2 more seasons (maybe 3) depending on the track the show takes. Tell the story you want to tell and then be done with it. Whatever they decide to do, we probably don’t need 7 seasons of this.

I’m really surprised by how well it resonated with people. Perhaps people are just tired of bombastic ultra-graphic very adult shows.

Entertaining writing is enough.
It got me by surprise, was expecting too much fluffy-happy fake faces... and it was a bit, at the beginning especially but it was believable and liked it, kinda got used to it.

But it turned even better when there were some cracks to appear on people... the angry one is not always angry, the smug face is not always smuggy, the happy one can get really sad and worried and stressed.

This series had some powerful and heartbreaking moments that I didn’t, at all, expected to happened.

I’m so down for season 3.

PS: it’s from the same creator as Scrubs, anybody that went through that one can totally relate what I mean.

Just in time for the team to win premiership. (S2 win Championship and get promoted. S3 win Premiership by beating Manchester United 😀)

Comedy.... its a bit far fetched. Ted Lasso, one of the few good shows on TV+.
