Well! With the lightning port dead. All you would really need to do is let the battery die.. They cant check the version if they cant power the device and cant connect via lightning

Don't be so quick to assume and take my post out of context.

Oops - I did not mean for my post to sound personal or negative. I apologize.

I agree that it is Apple's style to charge up front for service they provide later. Still, I find it refreshing, for in the UK most companies act in a mean-spirited short-sighted way that is infuriating. It winds up wasting a lot of money, resources, and time.

Although my primary residence is in the US, I spend plenty of time abroad on business. I've witnessed first hand the sort of experience you speak of. I'm in complete agreement with you.

Conversely as someone who's very experienced in both retail & wholesale business management, I know that it's possible to provide world class service, support & keeping the customer happy without pricing your products quite so high.

What Apple might give up in a modest price adjustment would more than be made up in volume. By deploying that type of strategy, Apple would not only be as successful and wealthy as today, they'd enjoy a much larger customer base. they'd be working with a business plan so strong, that slipping back would be extremely unlikely.

However I must not forget this is the USA, where instant gratification is worshipped at the highest levels.

An Internet business expert. Wow.

It's always a hit and miss with me. Last time I got my iPhone 4 replaced because it was losing text messages/camera was more grainy than usual. Had to explain why I restored my phone a few days earlier, the Genius ended up replacing my iPhone since my warranty was going to be up in a few weeks. Sometimes they actually do work with you

I think the Genius or Apple assumed you are a registered developer. At any point, I think the last time betas were around, Apple Stores weren't taking in devices with a beta in them. Perhaps you got lucky.

Got lucky.

I don't see how they have any grounds to refuse a replacement under the warranty because you're using a beta OS.

There's nothing in the warranty that states that would be excluded.

Yes it is in there. and repeated when you download the OS from the developer center.

I would attribute this more to sympathy from the Genius than luck.

Still luck that you got a sympathic genius at a store that doesn't come down on them for such things.

generally if there is even the slightest change it could be software you will be denied and sent to developer support or have to come back after you restored the phone and put ios 6 back on it and can show them that yes the issue happens.

I think it's pretty stupid not to put iOS 6 on it before going to the Apple Store. Why would you take the risk? Seems stupid to me.

Did you read the OP's post? He/She said that it was because the usb port stopped working, so how could they have reverted back without that working?? Hmmmm!!!
