That 10% is not a literal figure, but rather shows the scale. That 10% means a small or moderate increase while 2000% means a giant price hike.

yes, i definitely can't wait to pay $20k for the 2020 iphone (according to your logic).

Any monitor.

yeah, no. a base 8 core system, spec'd very similarly to what the mac pro has would not cost $6k. you can get a threatripper setup for less. and this isn't even taking into consideration the 16 core zen2 system, which will probably cost even less to put together.

That's BS and you've been swallowing Idiot Leader's carp. Benefit in the long run? So putting uncertainty in the world markets, dragging down the value of my superannuation for my retirement is okay for the US, Bully of the World is okay. BS!
If nobody does anything about China at this point then China will be the one deciding whether or not you even get any retirement! And the fact that you refer to our president as Idiot Leader speaks volumes.

My point is that tariffs can be equal and I am fine with that. You charge me 5% and I will charge you 5%. Charge me 50% and I will also charge you 50%. This is fair and I have no objections with that.
Tariffs aren’t even the issue with China. They have literally been STEALING from the US and other countries. China shouldn’t be complaining about unfair tariffs. They’re the ones who have started this by being unfair in the first place. People have GOT to understand that.

No it won't.
Explain.

We will have to see if the companies pay for what they use or end up stealing Huawei's patents in the US without paying royalties to them.

China is not a global superpower. At most they are a regional pseudo-hegemony - they attempt to bully neighbors by appearing to be a formidable threat. Sorry, parading 1950s equipment (complete with ghetto 4" whitewall tires) through peking on May day does not make China anything more than a thuggish looking creep.

Even without US intervention, China would not be able to take Taiwan in a year of continuous action.

Sure they have 28 J20 fighters, but they lack any real industrial capability to run a full time continuous production to produce more. The rest of their air power is either very limited in number, or obsolete junk - and - they lack the capability to maintain ANY of this equipment on a full time "operational" combat basis. The air power we have "mothballed" in our desert SW alone could be mobilized quicker into a superior force.
They would have 30 J20s, but they destroyed 2 while attempting to "shoehorn" the J20 into carrier operations - on - their single aircraft carrier, which was a partially built, obsolete diesel electric soviet model abandoned in 1986, and bought by some Macau investors with the intent of making it a floating casino (funny story, look it up).

None of their submarines have "silent running" capabilities, which means we can hear a Chinese sailor flush a deuce as soon as they leave the dock. We can take them ALL out before they would even get near international waters.

We stopped building F22s because frankly we didn't need anymore. We're running continuous production of F35s at a rate that no other country can begin to match (yes, our friends are 'in' on the F35 effort). Despite all the "whining" about how the F35 hasn't achieved all of it's intended "on paper" capability, experienced F16 pilots who trained in F35s told all the pin headed whiners to shut up. The F22 and F35 represent more than just a "number of aircraft" bean counter measurement - they represent a strategic military/industrial/technology "trajectory" that no other power, especially China, can match.

The USA has 11 nuclear powered Super Carriers, and about the same number of "jump" carriers, with more being constructed.

At best, China's military is only useful for intimidating its own people into submission. China has a large number of military personnel, but they lack the infrastructure to even feed them if they were on active duty. China's has a large number of obsolete tanks, but their only purpose is to drive over their own people if/when they rise up.

By the same token, you can’t just do nothing. At least USA won’t be creating jobs for China exclusively.
Apple (Foxconn) is creating the jobs, not USA (gov't). Whether it's in India, Vietnam or elsewhere it will do nothing to improve trade balance. Personally, I think tariffs are dumb in most cases as are retrace wars. PROTECTIONISM is not the answer.

Yeah moving the manufacturing from the Communist China to Communist Vietnam will surely diminish Chinas's political and economical influence in the South East Asian region ;)
You're right! Don't know why you've been arguing with me when we agree.
