Yes, there is resolution, readout, sensitivity, power consumption etc.

And much less noise, which is covered in Apple's patent. We'll just have to wait and see. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion Apple's approach would produce inferior results. Rather, wait and see when its released and results can be compared.
 
Wonder if this is why the main image sensor has stayed the same since the 14 Pro, and there's no indication the 17 Pro will change that -_-
Which is completly ridiculous, because it si by fare the most important sensor

Interesting! If this solves problems like the image darkening if you take a beach foto into the sun, I’d be very pleased and might upgrade for it.

But you do still have the problem of file formats. More dynamic range requires larger file formats, and it is likely going to lead to issues with representing it in an RGB colour space within a standard jpeg. Which is a problem I already encounter when sharing snaps with family on WhatsApp.

Still it would be a nice feature to have for my photo library.
