Such ugly design!
iMac will forever be iconic! I honestly prefer the old 2020 iMac design.

I just want a 32"+ (5k or higher res) stand-alone display at no more than $2.5k.

Dell 5K 2K Ultra-Wide looks like an iMac screen vertically but with much more width. I have 20:20 eyes and don't notice a difference vs. my former iMac 27"... except the width. There are spec differences but spec extremes don't typically apply to real world use.

Priced about the same as ASD (but gets as low as about $1400 in the refurb store) and comes with a KVM hub with many 2023 useful ports built in, not just a few of one type of port... and FOUR video inputs in case you would like to use it with more than only a Mac (I have a Mac-Mini like PC to deliver real Windows (not ARM Windows) to one of the other inputs for "old fashioned bootcamp"). You can even split screen it to have Mac on the left and whatever you want on the right. Or rotate the screen for a very tall portrait setup.

Having used this with my Mac for a year now, I could never go back to 16:10. Ultra-wide is just too useful.

Great to have more options, but I am a bit surprised Apple has so many desktop models. I think the Mac mini and Mac Studio already cover about everyone. Is the iMac market really still there?

This is just stupid at this point. Most of us will have had to transition to a Mac Studio and display before that happens. I was holding out for an imac but like holding out til this fall…
That's what I think, too. I wouldn't be surprised that Apple drops even the 24" iMac in favor people buying the Mac mini and separate 24 to 28 inch Thunderbolt port display.

There are too many Macs now, including Mac mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro: tower and rack. Also, sales of ioda Oro will slice off some off the Mac line up.
I have waited too long for an iMac, now I got the Mac studio and Apple Display.
Afraid of a bargain all-in-one iMac compared to your Mac studio? Thats always possible. It's like comparing the Mac mini with a M2 Pro vs M2 Max Studio. Different solutions for different consumers is what Apple should always provide. ;)

The only reason I’d be interested in this is if it gives me a glossy 27 inch plus screen that’s also 120 Hz. There’s currently no option on the market that has that level of high dpi and high refresh rate. The closest is 4K 27” at 120-160 Hz, but that’s not great with macOS scaling and even then, they’re (all but one) not glossy.

What’re the chances of that happening? Low, or no?

This makes it one rumor closer to my desired AS iMac Pro! Patience is a virtue, and I'm ready to be impatient. 🤣

While I'm being impatient & greedy.... Apple, please make a display that matches the aesthetics of the new iMac Pro. I'm dreaming of the iMac Pro and matching Display on my desktop, and make it snappy!

So they're now going to have a 30 iMac, while the studio display is still at 27 and screw over all of us who bought the Studio Display & Mini or Studio combo?! Of course they're not going to release a 30 inch Studio display because then it would compete with this new iMac. Wish Apple would release their desktop Macs at the same time so buyers know all the options. Buying a Mac these days is about making a compromise and then regretting your decision a couple months later when Apple releases a new Mac that you would have purchased if you knew was coming out. I waited years for a new iMac to replace my 5K and then finally gave in and bought a Studio Display/Mini Pro option when it seemed like a new iMac was never coming out.

Do the math. If it is >30“, it will be probably 32“. With retina resolution (and Apple won’t go below that), it will be a 6K display. The only 6K display on the market besides the XDR Pro is the new Dell, which is 3K$ for the display alone. So yes, 4K for the machine you describe would be very reasonable indeed, by anyone‘s standards.

Yes, that was what I figured as well. Big retina displays are expensive.

Agree completely. Am about to replace my 2017 Intel 27-inch 5k iMac in favor of, yep, a Mac Studio M2 Max and Studio Display. Would’ve gladly replaced it with an Apple Silicon version of what I have, had such a thing ever existed.
Same here. I think a lot of us feel this way. I just pulled the trigger on a Studio Display and Mac Studio.

Starting price: $3,999 w/ 16gb RAM and 250GB SSD.

"Reasonable" by MacRumors standards.
Is it me or is apple just so out of touch with its buyers they choose to make things so expensive no one even bats an eye when they move on after they see the price.

There are lots of sizes over 30". It doesn't have to be 32". 29.x" monitors have hit the market in the past too. Basically, Apple can choose whatever size it wants to choose.

BTW, a 29.5" 5K screen is Retina at 17.26" viewing distance. At 30", it would be 17.56".
Recommended desktop monitor viewing distances are >20" for proper ergonomics.

The iMac is more of a lifestyle product. It looks nice, not a lot of cables. Just a simple computing device, ready for the tasks of the day.

Well Apple does no-interest time payments for their stuff. That's something. $100 a month for 2.5 years and it's mine. :)

Exactly. There’s a market but not okento warrantnthe frequency of updates everyone in this forum expects.

Yeah, I have seen that, also there is a Dell 6k display but damn, what an ugly display with that gigantic bezel on the top. Plus the build quality looks cheap.
