This is all a bit meh, I feel Apple will get pressured into doing OLED screens quicker on the other iPads and laptops if they want folks to keep upgrading

So don't buy any new ones that have just been released? Asking for a friend who has a perfectly good 9.7 Pro running the current iPad OS 17.

Now this would be solid! for the right price

new design and OLED screen, I stuck with my mini 5 trying out the mini 6 briefly and it was not worth it (for me) with jelly scroll and an inferior contrast display on my unit

Why will it take another 2 years before an OLED iPad mini? Isn’t that a lot of lead time? Is Apple just starting to develop are we to expect nothing between now and then? “Innovation my ass”. Wake up Tim.
Because, in the absence of true innovation, Apple must “differentiate” between model tiers In an effort to get you to spend more for the Pro.

My mini 5 is still holding strong, but I really really like the overall design of the current mini.

Maybe I’ll get this whenever it comes out…

The screen is great at the moment... single layer OLED would be a downgrade...and still no promotion!! What a joke.

Kuo or some analyst report said we won’t get new a new iPad Mini until toward the end of 2024. Apple just released a host of new iPads this month so they would not want a all new Mini to cannabilize those sales. The report also said the new Mini at the end of 2024 will just be a spec bump and nothing else. 2026 will be OLED iPad Mini with another spec bump, but nothing special.

The iPad Mini may sell a lot but it is really not seen as priority by Apple

The average non tech enthusiasts isn’t going to upgrade due to oled. I often find myself having to explain to people what oled even is. Let’s keep it real when it comes to tablets iPad doesn’t really have a direct competitor. Adding oled isn’t going to suddenly get people who just use an iPad as a media consumption device or something to babysit their kids to upgrade. I think it’s good that they are devices you can keep for many years before having to upgrade. I just upgraded from a 2018 pro to the m4 pro and plan to keep the new one just as long.

This was from May 13th" "Gurman expects the next iPad model to feature a newer processor, but few other changes. Other sources have claimed new camera upgrades could be included, as well as a potential fix for the "jelly scrolling" display behavior on the latest model."

Hopefully a small spec bump for 2024 then a full revamp in 2026/27. We're going over 1000 days since the last refresh which hasn't happened before. I doubt they'd go 1700+ days for the next update.

oh that would be awesome! + face ID 😍
but of course, it then will be called PRO, and start at 999ducks

Waiting until 2026 for a new iPad Mini? I guess for OLED displays, it'll be worth the wait. 😩

Good riddance LCD displays. Oled is the future (well, not for the not so rational “jelly screen is not a display defect/ oled has burn in posters around here)

As well as a display size/resolution increase, the on-screen keyboard needs adjustment to fill less (3/5) of the display in landscape.

Trying to fill in text fields in Safari can be a real PITA but really broken is using the top formatting menu in Notes. You get the impression the mini’s landscape display/keyboard combo isn’t tested by Apple.

Hm? Modern iPhones all have single-layer OLED and look much nicer than the Mini.

Disappointing that this isn't coming sooner, but I suppose I'm happy that it's at least on the horizon. iPad Mini is my girlfren’.
