For you, it seems the iphone 14 offers little reason to upgrade. But me with my XS Max, there is a bit more than an incremental upgrade that would entice me to upgrade. Of course, it's plain common sense, the longer one holds off on upgrade the more features/functions that are built into the phone.
I don't ever decide to update or not until the reveal. Rumors will change 100x in a year.

The sales volume will be significantly lower than iPhone 13 series because of the price increase.

@hacky you disagree with “most people don’t care about usb-c”. Care to prove they do?…I’ll wait. Most people would seem to include more than 500 million people. 50% or more of apples customers.

Typically when someone says "Most people don't care" or "everyone doesn't care", they actually just mean themselves but think everyone must be thinking the same way as them. At least that's what I have found.

It’s really just anecdotal, but I really don’t know anyone in real life that ever said that usb c was somehow important for them when buying a phone. I mean what do you use the port for except charging? I guess if you’re some kind of photographer?

OK, I’ll add an anecdote to the mountain of no evidence regarding USB-C. I DO wish iPhones used a USB-C port but only because iPads do. I have two of each, two iPhones, two iPads. I wish I could get rid of the Lightning charging cables and just use the required USB-C for all. Beyond that, could not care less. Going the other way would work for me also, i.e., iPads start using Lightning, but that’s unlikely.

Yep. Dual 35 watt usb-c charger. One usb-c to lightning and one usb-c to usb-c. Need multiple cables anyway as what if one wants to charge usually more than device.

I do wonder if they will add USB-C to the Pro models only, but then they would need different chassis cutout and board etc from the iPhone 14 vanilla, so not sure they will eat that extra cost. But it would fit with the Pro segment regarding data transfer speed with USB-C.

Amid continued healthy sales for the iPhone 13 lineup, Apple's iPhone 14 models are forecasted to sell even better, Sina Finance reports.

The report claims that Apple has begun trial production of the iPhone 14 lineup and plans to begin mass production in August ahead of launch in September. Apple is said to have informed suppliers than the initial sales of the iPhone 14 will be higher than those of the iPhone 13.

iPhone sales normally slow down in the July-August period as customers anticipate the launch of new models in September, but iPhone 13 shipments were reportedly one-third higher this July than at the same time last year, suggesting that the device has ongoing demand.

Meanwhile, ETNews reports that Samsung is expecting to ship as many as 80 million displays for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max in the third quarter of this year. In 2021, all four iPhone 13 models were announced on September 14, became available to pre-order on September 17, and launched on September 24 in the United States and more than 30 other countries, and the iPhone 14 lineup is expected to launch in a similar timeframe this year.

I know I haven't bought an Iphone since the last Steve Jobs model (the 5S Gold 64GB),
And I am most certainly looking forward to purchasing an iPhone 14, haven't had a smartphone since 2016!

It will be quite an adjustment, I imagine.

My only hopes is that the 14 Pro (or Pro-Max) will have a native audio connector to drive wired headphones, But looking at the press releases, it appears I'll have to use that stupid adaptor. Does it even drive high impedance headphones correctly?

We may never know if supply chain constraints in China continue. And maybe that’s what Apple is trying to do here. Use price hikes to make up for inflation, higher costs and lower supply.

The target customer is someone with an iPhone 11 or earlier, not an iPhone 13. By that comparison, the 14 will be a substantial upgrade by every measure

"Fake product line". LoL. Sounds like your a bit cash strapped
I'm on an XR looking to upgrade. If I were to go for base model and the rumors so far are true, getting the 14 over the 13 makes no sense. Even if they don't increase prices as is rumored, the 13 will probably still be cheaper as retailers will be trying to get rid of it (and no way Apple is keeping both 13 and 14 alive, they're too similar if not exactly the same products). They'll also be running the same SoC, so they should, in theory, meet the iOS updates chopping block at the same time.

Sure, the Pro lineup will probably sell well, the notch replacement will be enough for many to grab it but I'm still kinda tempted to skip this year and wait for iPhones 15. Those are likely to finally have USB-C (due to EU regulations) and we might see a new body. Still wish the flush camera rumors we had about iPhone 14 earlier this year were true...
