Perhaps this is more aggressively priced than what is speculated. I don’t see people waiting in long lines like the early iPhone launches, but if this is accompanied by a large advertising campaign I could see it driving traffic to stores. It’s likely to be the “star of the show” on Wednesday. I expect Apple will do the press release updates to the MacBook Pro, iPad Air, etc. first and unveil the MacBook on Wednesday either at the events or earlier that morning through a press release with a video on Wednesday.
Agreed. Like I said, I hope I’m wrong and it’s big hit right off the bat. Just seems like a steep ask given the target market. We’ll see. Excited to finally see some substantial releases!

LOL! Brilliant timing...

Lower cost devices released in the Spring (March 8th) aka TAX TIME! Lol.

Spend those tax dollars!

Actually curious to see this new MacBook. So many people buy garbage windows computers because they just see the price. Maybe this will finally get some good hardware in their hands.
Yeah, a MacBook that is stuck with 8GB RAM and a last-gen tablet/phone CPU and a tiny amount of SSD. That's what you call "good hardware"?

I picked up an Asus ZenBook S 16 with a 16" 3K 120Hz OLED and 24GB RAM/1TB SSD and as thin and light as anything for $625. I'd rather spend on something like that than a dead-end MacBook model.

lol overhyped as usual. All they will be doing as per that other leaker is updating the Macs and iPad Air and base with new chips and that's it. But we will know soon enough.

Maybe it isn't *A* product, but that are releasing several product with enough appeal to bring people in.
The new low cost MacBook AND the two new Studio Displays (you would have to see in person) AND an M5 Ultra based Studio to drive it would generate foot traffic for example.
The low cost MacBook and the new home hub device might also do it, depending on how good that hub is.

Apple has advised its retail store employees to expect a "major rush" of customers this week, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
A major rush of customers or a major rush of people going to their Apple store to check out the newly announced products only to leave the store disappointed and empty handed.

There's a difference.

Bring 5G to a MacBook Air and I may even tolerate Tahoe to get it!
Does no one use the hot-spot on their phone (free) instead of paying Apple what would probably be an outrageous add-on expense for 5G hardware plus the monthly cost of a cell data plan? WWAN in laptops has almost exclusively been in business-based models. I really don't see the Air getting it.

"Major mainstream appeal"
If they are offering the rumored low cost MB at $499, that might do it, but I am doubtful if that.
Whatever thing it is, that announcement probably on Wed before the "experience"

Forget the Apple cost of a 5G modem. What about your provider cost for an extra line? I still pine away for the 'coming never' feature of all of my devices being on ONE line. Its not like I am having two phone conversations at once. Put my computer, my phone, my tablet, my watch, and my smart toilet paper holder all on the same line rather than charging me extra for each device.

While appealing, I’d be surprised if the new lower-cost MacBooks really create a massive wave of demand in days? Hope I’m wrong
It is not solely about "the new lower-cost MacBooks really create a massive wave of demand in days."

Not massive demand for just one device. Multiple devices likely will "create a massive wave of demand in days" from among the "Possibilities include an iPhone 17e with an A19 chip, an iPad Air with an M4 chip, an iPad 12 with an A18 chip, a MacBook Air with the M5 chip, and MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips."

Apple TV and HP mini. That's all I want. I'm starting to think 2027. 🙄
You want an HP (branded) Mac mini like the HP (branded) iPod? 😂

Or alternatively with one or more items. Could go either way.

Curious what this could be. A low cost MacBook is NOT a product that would cause “iPhone like traffic” unless it has a touch screen or something. Nor would a iPhone 17e.

Or they could just be referring to people like iJustine flipping out over a pink MacBook. Yeah, that’s probably it actually. 😂
It is not about "what this could be." Apple teases 3 days of announcements, hence multiple devices. IMO yes, multiple device announcements will indeed cause “iPhone like traffic.”
