My guess would be they are helping them port their applications over to the AppleTV (or maybe Im dreaming:eek:).

I'm betting on this as well.

Of course, it might be other things, like showing developers how to utilize Airplay in their apps, or simply to allow them to take advantage of other new iOS 4.2 stuff before 4.2 is released next month.

But I'm hoping its for the apple tv.

My guess is it is just regarding the iPad and new apps to show off its features with the upgraded OS.

I'll join the chorus hoping that this means an Apple TV store is on its way.

Apps probably mean the difference between the ATV being useless (for me) and a revolution.

Big Boys ONLY!

This secret conference is to discuss paying off my credit card debts!
Yeah! It is about damn time!!!
Woot woot!

That was my guess too. I'm surprised they didn't put that theory out there in the original story.

Apple meets with lots of companies without announcing it to the press. (As does any company.) That doesn't mean it is some sort of secret kabal.

Wait....WHAT??? I must have some really bad iSight because I cannot spot a difference between these two icons, other than size and pixelation.

Edit: Okay, yeah, I see the difference now ('rays of light' going into the circle?) but, really, I don't see how much of a difference that would make when viewing on a 3.5" screen.

Also, the highlights are different on the outlines. The second image has an edge that makes it look more like a cutout.

too late for the 4.2 - it will be released in 2 weeks or so, too late to add cool stuff for the apps there. Application development (even if 'only' a demo) takes longer than 2-3 weeks (I mean of course apps worth showing at whatever events - not a fart app that is written within 1hour).

It either appleTV as many here in the forum hope for or something for 4.3 and/or next gen iPad.

I, too, am dreaming that it is about Apple TV.

And here we go back to the iToys. No more stuff on the Mac for, ooh, 2 more years? :(

I very much want to see apps on TV.

But I'm also hoping OSX Lion might intro some way to use iOS apps on OSX devices. That's less than a year off, so it would be entirely reasonable to get key developers working on it now.

And, like most people on here, HOPE that Apple TV will soon see an App Store of its own.

No, not the only thing, look at the "A" and the circle around it. It now has a "sunken" look, kind of like 3D.

I think the most likely explanation would be they are prepping for some demos for a future iOS keynote.

Angry Birds Thanksgiving! Woohoo.

I think it's a rah-rah to get iOS developers to port apps to MacOS. The Mac App Store is about replicating the revenue stream of the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch ecosystem to the Mac and all its users. I don't expect to see the big Mac developers caring much about MAS.

iPad 2.

November is a great time to updated the iPad. April = terrible. Update iPhones in June/July, to debut the next iteration of iOS, then wait a month and update the iPods, then wait a month and go for the iPad! Plus, iPad released with 3.2. Wouldn't it makes sense to update the hardware when you get to 4.2? =]

If it's not related to Apple TV, Apple should take notice that 75% of these replies were enthusiastic to an App Store for the TV box. It sure would turn this "hobby" into a mainstream hit. If they wait to long, users will find other ways to get content such as app driven TVs, Blu-ray players and gaming consoles.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

I hope it's about an Apple tv app store cause that's the big reason I'm still holding out on getting one.

Same here. That and seeing how Airplay gets implemented.
