Maybe you are in the minority of simple ready to go females , but maybe you don't work or are in high school since you don't even need a pen? I will say manyyyy females that I know carry something like a k bar, etc snacks. also, do you don't carry a small mirror to put said lip gloss?

I am not in high school, and I do work. Why would I need to carry a pen? Stores have pens at the checkouts. I use the notes app to take notes, or just take a picture to reference later. The handbag I sometimes carry does have a pen at the bottom of it, but I can't recall the last time I actually needed to use it. I don't even know if it works. Shrug.

And no, I don't need to carry a mirror. It's easy to apply gloss without a mirror, or if I'm feeling fancy I can use the reflection off my locked phone screen.

On another note, count me as one who doesn't need an iPad Mini as a phone. This is just ridiculous.

What's ridiculous, are the constant comparisons of a phablet to the iPad Mini.

They're not even close. And a 5" iPhone would be even smaller.

The back pocket is definitely primarily a guy thing, but I am woman who utilities the back pocket of her jeans on many occasions.

For myself, I cannot understand why people put a phone in their back pocket. That's just asking for structural problems, not to mention the common dropping out into toilets.

Also, iPhones are too blocky and straight for pockets. I'd like to see Apple do something more slim and curved like what Samsung does, which fit much nicer even when larger.

No chance they both will have 441 PPI. That would mean introducing not one but TWO new screen resolutions for developers. Apple has been reluctant to do that for obvious reasons so I highly doubt this report is true.

Apple would be more likely to build a 4.8" iPhone at 1136x640 and live with the iPad Air quality 264 PPI. If they don't want this, they will add 1 new resolution, but not 2.

I guess a larger screen is pretty much confirmed by now. We see this 4.7 and 5.5 topic every other week now. Lol.

Right. You can also scratch your phone with keys or coins in your pocket. I use the belt pouch to carry my phone

Currently, perhaps. But they don't pay someone an Apple senior executive level (and former fashion CEO level) salary, and complete ignore their input (unless they plan on firing her soon, like Scott). Some business pundits even think she might become one of the possible candidates for Apple's next CEO... Ahead of Sir Ives.

The whole basis of everything apple produces is "design by non-committee". Regardless of pay, it would mean compromising, and thats also not the way things work at Apple. I don't think (and this article explicitly states that) they'll move to a bigger format all together, but the "designer jeans mini-pocket" argument simply sounds ridiculous to me. (Buying a phone because it fits something does too, and i know people do thàt, so i could be wrong ofcourse).

As usual, lots of posters here are confused by resolution / PPI and what it means for iOS developers and apps.

It's an exaggeration, of course. Some of y'all got to stop taking things so seriously, laws.

Ok, that's not helping ;)

Very funny. May be they should, who knows, but for now Apple needs to stay competitive and offer a second larger phone and a phablet. People have different needs and my needs are not satisfied. And my wife prefers 5.5" Note. Currently Samsung has our money and you see what is happening with AAPL.

I don't think this line of thinking will win in the long run. Loyal and committed customers are more valuable than customers that keep switching between phones. It's weird for me that screen size is the deciding factor, too.. I'm more inclined to think that being different and 'new', combined with a lower price are the main decision factors.

The AAPL stock price isn't that relevant.. Keeping everyone happy is what caused the windows8 debacle, AAPL should prevent compromising.

Like Steve said, "Real artists ship." This is the weakness of Tim Cook. The market is still the boss, no matter if Apple is big.

Shipping when Samsung ships or according to the schedule of the "World Mobile Congress" conference/show is not the market. Apple decoupled themselves from fixed conferences/expos years ago.

If Apple ships an improver product about 12 months after the last time they shipped then that is are response to market pressures. All the vendors synchronzing with one another of picking some arbitrary calendar date to synch to isn't "market pressures". That is just being "in the herd".

Why Sapphire?

I've got the 5S, and my sapphire touch button attracts fingerprint grease like there's no tomorrow. I can't see this as an advantage. :) Would they add a coating to the new surface to prevent this?? (Does the gorilla glass have a coating, ??)

I think it has oleophobic coating, which can be applied to anything (even my glass screen protector has it).

There has been lots and lots of talk about a larger screen iPhone 2014, and and 2014 iPhone releasing in multiple sizes.

What hard evidence to we have ??
I am just seeing post after post about analysis or reporters reporting that they have information about that.

What is weird for you not weird for other people who want larger phones. People have different needs and priorities. And I don't see much "new" nor "different" coming from Apple in the last few years. Apple lost its leadership and playing ketchup with Android. Look: wireless sync, multitasking, notification center, LTE, flat design, folders, widgets, stylus, phablet, e-ink (I can keep going) - all of these features/technologies were first introduced by other vendors. As for loyalty, this is not a religion for me. I am not loyal to a company which does not listen to my needs.

I'm sure Apple has many prototypes. I think we can all assume that there will be at least one new iPhone model with a bigger screen. Honestly, I can't imagine Apple running three different sizes in parallel; it doesn't seem very Apple.
Whether Ive and his team can blow us away with the design remains to be seen!

MacBook Pro was 13", 15" and 17". iPad mini and iPad Air implies an iPad Pro of some sort is coming. I think running iPhone in threes is very Apple, actually.

NONE! and this is usually the case this far out..having said that, i would be extremely surprised if apple did not launch atleat 1 product that is closer to the 5" form factor. There are plenty of investigative forays by journalists and analysts with a track record..all of this points to a larger phone. But then their is no conclusive smoking gun..

Nice job of clipping my comment so you change the meaning. You are misinterpreting my comment, and kidding yourself. The comment ended with "Cook's perfectionism or ambitious (re)design while the product niche remains empty or outdated." When you have a still-great Mac Pro box, don't have the line sit dormant for over a year while you perfect your new design. Then the new design has flaws such as needing to pay over $800 for 1 TB of internal storage, and 64 GB max. They have a still excellent Mac Mini design, but apparently Cook and Ive are redesigning it. Meanwhile, the mini is stale with HD 4000 graphics.

WHY? I don't understand why I would ever want my phone curved and I don't understand why I would ever want my tv curved.

Exactly. It would be a lot easier to damage a curved phone if it is in your pocket or is accidentally sat upon. It's a foolish idea.

Apple Reportedly Launching Two New iPhones with Larger Flat Sapphire Displays...

Maybe glasses would be a good option.. Or are your girlfriends' designer jeans pockets that much bigger than.. Oh, nevermind ( ;-) i'm kidding ofcourse.

Just about every feature of an iphone existed before. Yet they did manages to completely disrupt an industry, created a phenomenon that didn't exist before and became one of the biggest companies in the world because of it. It wasn't features that did that; it was execution. And people were severely divided by it (read back comments of the original iphone announcement).

I don't agree to the "playing catch-up" reference either; samsung just barfs out so many features it'd be impossible to think of a new one. Unfortunately they're almost (e-ink works a bit better) always badly executed.

The fragmentation on android will grow.. The design by committee mess will grow, and apple will continue to be the safest, most reliable and best executed smartphone builder there is.

It's something that is a giveaway for succes: people arguing good/bad over a new product.. It means they care deeply (hate is love's brother, indifference is the opposite of both!) and it means its not designed to please everyone. You're a statement to that, and i'm glad you are.

It doesn't sound ridiculous at all to the people that sell mega-billions of dollars worth of $150+ jeans, $500+ watches, Blatnik shoes, Burberry purses (have you priced these!?), and the like. Or to the customers who like to shop for this stuff (and who are a good sized portion of Apple's current customer base).

Mega-billions? I think burberry would cash in on it with a iphone-purse.

On a more serious note: if you buy blahnik shoes you don't give a damn about convenience, nor the fit. Only trendyness and price matter.

... - all of these features/technologies were first introduced by other vendors.

... who all made very little profit (except for one vendor) or even lost money, because too few people are willing to pay anything for the "benefits" of these features.

Specs and features are worthless unless consumers (a lot of them) put their money where their mouth is. A nice profitable amount of money so that the vendor can keep hiring great product designers and engineers.

A large phone makes perfect sense for those of us who actually don't like to talk on a phone, at least not with it up to our ears, that's sooo 1995:rolleyes: A 5.5" would be my iPad mini mini, perfect for business use as well as evening entertainment streaming.
