Personally I hope it isn't just a bigger version of the same design. Make it ergonomic like the Moto X so it's not so slippery and easy to slip out of your hand.

This report is looking more genuine now.
Sketchy Report Claims Full iPhone 6 iPhone Details: Larger IGZO Screens, More RAM and Storage

According to the report, the iPhone 6 will be available in two sizes, one with a 4.7-4.8 inch display and a second at 5.5 inches. These displays are said to run at 1920x1080 (440 ppi) and 2272x1280 (510 ppi) respectively, using indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) technology rather than the low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) technology used in current iPhones.

Who the hell carries snacks around with them?? I also don't need pens and don't care about sanitizer. I only carry the lip gloss I'm wearing on a particular day, that doesn't take much room. I rarely need much more than my ID and bank card. (I force stores with loyalty cards to look me up by phone number. Cashiers seem to hate that but I hate carrying all those damn cards around, so tough for them.)

Maybe those stores need to make a damn Passbook app already. It would make everyone's life easier.

I hope they have feature parity if this does happen - although I can't think that Apple would have 3 (potentially 4 if the 4S sticks around) resolutions for developers.

I just hope that the 4.7 inch model does not have lower specs or lack features of the proposed 5.5 inch iPhone.

I like how Apple made both the iPad Air and the iPad Mini have the same specs and the only difference is the screen size. I hope Apple follow this example, if they do indeed release a 4.7 and 5.5 inch screen iPhone.

They just hired the former CEO of a major fashion company to run Apple stores. Think she'll want to stock mostly devices that won't appeal to fashionable rich (or wannabe thereof) women?

I think she has very, very little influence on the design. Very little.. Very.

That's what puzzles me. Apple has tended to be "conservative" with display sizes in the past, in small part to keep developers from pushing out final builds that can be used on a variation of devices based on more screen sizes.

On another note, count me as one who doesn't need an iPad Mini as a phone. This is just ridiculous.

Makes me laugh

NO! Really, September?!?! So that silly rumor about May-June Time frame was... a load of crap?

Love all the hyper-speculation. It would be a lot better to just focus on the next MacBook Air for now, and worry about the iPhone 6... IN SEPTEMBER. Even the "iWatch" ,or so they call it, will be a mere accessory to the iPhone/iPad. I would still rather here about my next MacBook Air - with a gorgeous new design from Jony and his team.

Just my two cents.

The back pocket is definitely primarily a guy thing, but I am woman who utilities the back pocket of her jeans on many occasions. Sadly, jean manufacturers have been making the pockets smaller, putting stupid snaps and buttons on them, and generally making them less utility and more fashion. I am what you would call a classic casual dresser. So, I love the smaller phones but will likely buy the slightly larger one because I depend much more on sweater/jacket/vest pockets and that will be a boon for reading - and I can really let my iPad mini go. I think the largest one is just to wound Samsung. They sell them, so will Apple.

Yeppers. Whatever the size, I need to be able to spin it around and operate it with one hand.

SEPTEMBER !! I have to wait till september now...SAMSUNG will have a smart phone on the moon by then:mad:

Like Steve said, "Real artists ship." This is the weakness of Tim Cook. The market is still the boss, no matter if Apple is big. Eventually Apple will get burned because of Cook's perfectionism or ambitious (re)design while the product niche remains empty or outdated.

If this is true, I may have to hang on to my iPhone 5S for an extra year, and hope that sanity returns by the iPhone 7. If you want a large screen, for the love of Mike, get an iPad.

And no, I'm not saying Apple shouldn't produce larger screened phones for the no taste people out there, but please keep making a 4" phone with the top of the line components every year.

Do any women work at Apple? Have you tried putting a 5" phone in the pocket of women's designer jeans? The current one can barely, barely fit. The 3.5 model was much better. That's half your customer base right there!!!

Please, Apple, step back from the cliff before it is too late!

But ur name is Ted...

I hate to be “that guy”, but the math for this just doesn’t seem to check out.

What resolution would those phones be? It couldn’t be 1920x1080 (“Full HD”), because at 4.7", the pixel density would be ~468PPI, and at 5.5", the pixel density would be ~400PPI.

So if both phones had a 441PPI display, they’d both need to have different resolutions, that are both kinda near Full HD, but not quite. And it means two new resolutions for developers to support, rather than just one.

This rumour just rings false to me.

with the current iphone ratio, it would mean about 1806 x 1017 for the 4.7 inch

4.7" screen is too small, 5.5" is too big for me.

5" is the ideal size for me, but since people have various needs Apple should offer 3 sizes:

- 4.3" iPhone, same form factor as iPhone 5S but with no bezel
- 5" iPhone, with no bezel it will be smaller the Galaxy S4, which is already pocketable
- 5.7" iPhablet

This killer offering would put AAPL stock into $1000 quickly

Maybe someone mathematically gifted can calculate - what resolutions would these be at 441 PPI and respective sizes? :)
Just to make sure you never need to ask again:

21ompm8.jpg
with the pixel density ρ, aspect ratio A (>1) and the display diagonal D.

In this case the resolution is something like 1016 x 1807. That's not a particularly common display size (although Apple is kind of famous for using unusual display sizes). Full HD is pretty close, but that's too far off. I guess that specific number at least is a hoax. Here's also why I think this: It's the exact pixel density of the SAMSUNG Galaxy S4. So whoever came up with it just thought "Hey, it needs to be able to compete with the S4 at least, so whatever".

Why stop at 3 sizes? They should just make a huge range of iPhones with every possible screen size in 0.2" increments between 3" and 7.6". Then there'd be a size that's just perfect for anyone's preferences.

I will go for the 4.7inch. I doubt they release a 4.7 and a 5.5?? My fear if they do- is that the 5.5 becomes the flagship and gets a killer feature that the 4.7 does not get!

So people that like the smaller screen size are don't get the latest and greatest tech? That's not what Apple did with iPad last year. With the iPad I never felt it was right that those who wanted a smaller screen size were forced to buy an inferior product. For the most part Apple rectified that last year.

I fully expect Apple to have two iPhone screen sizes this year, but I don't expect them to relegate the current screen size to the 'budget' phone. Unless iOS 8 and the new phone(s) offer something that only works on a larger screen. But I doubt that will be the case.

I hate the trend manufacturers have started where bigger size = more features. Personally my ideal phone size range is 4.3-4.5" and I'd like an option to get a flagship device at that size without sacrificing features because big phones are the trend right now. I think the iPad Air and retina iPad mini are the only ones the gap isn't too bad and you're just choosing your preferred size (when you disregard price).

Maybe you are in the minority of simple ready to go females , but maybe you don't work or are in high school since you don't even need a pen? I will say manyyyy females that I know carry something like a k bar, etc snacks. also, do you don't carry a small mirror to put said lip gloss?

I think she has very, very little influence on the design. Very little.. Very.

Currently, perhaps. But they don't pay someone an Apple senior executive level (and former fashion CEO level) salary, and complete ignore their input (unless they plan on firing her soon, like Scott). Some business pundits even think she might become one of the possible candidates for Apple's next CEO... Ahead of Sir Ives.

Very funny. May be they should, who knows, but for now Apple needs to stay competitive and offer a second larger phone and a phablet. People have different needs and my needs are not satisfied. And my wife prefers 5.5" Note. Currently Samsung has our money and you see what is happening with AAPL.

This whole rumor strikes me as echo-chamber link-baiting, and nothing that a serious, well-reasoned newsperson would publish. It tries to sound reasonable by combining aspects from several rumors that themselves are somewhat ridiculous.

The sapphire factory is ramping up for iWatch, period. In a few years, maybe we'll see sapphire used for other, larger screens. But not September, and definitely not September on iPhablets. It will be virtually impossible to produce the sort of yields Apple would need for such large sapphire displays. If you know anything about sapphire production, you know this whole story is a complete fabrication.
