take the meaning of these numbers with a grain of salt. They always misread what order/stock numbers mean even if they get them right.

On the other hand, I have expected that over time the Airpods will lose a good chunk of their place in the market as cheap competition comes in and is good enough especially considering how disposable these things can be - between the non-replaceable battery, losing them or just how dirty they get.

And I don't think Apple can out innovate that reality.

In other words the category is slowly becoming a commodity like wired ear buds..

Not surpising at all. Much cheaper and superior alternatives available.

Take a pair of earfüns for example.

Just like the lowering of production of the iPhone 12 Mini, I guess this means that 'no one actually wanted this product'. ;)

Based on this, Apple should immediately kill the AirPods. Only a small vocal minority wanted wireless earbuds. And clearly now the product has failed completely. Next time, I hope we all learned a valuable lesson and likewise will not repeat the same mistake of listening to this minority of foolish customers that convinced Apple that this was a highly desired product. Millions of people have purchased both the AirPods and the iPhone 12 Mini, you say? Irrelevant. Terminate both products immediately. Total Disaster.

Yes, AppleCare+ is a must with AirPods... My Pros have been replaced 3 times now. Sick and tired of the issues, but I love the integration into the ecosystem.
Same with me,after 3rd replacement I upgraded to Powerbeats pro. I was really tired of this.

I only miss active noise Cancellation but otherwise Powerbeats has less problems than my AirPods Pro had with AirPods integration. Win win situation

Diminishing returns when you get over £100. I mean the tech when you’re in the iOS environment is cool, but if I didn’t buy them right at the beginning when less options were available, then I probably may have opted for another brand.

I’ve seen some Anker Wireless buds that have over 20,000 reviews on Amazon and are 4.5/5 and are £40.

Also during the lockdown it didn’t make sense to have earbuds that only last less than 5 hours when you have work calls and stuff. I had my Bose NC700 and Jabra Evolve 85 on a lot more due to longer battery life, comfort and the ability to be connected to more than one device across different OS
IMO the AirPods Pro are so good it’s almost hard to know where they could improve on them. I’ll gladly pay the price given how much I use them.

.... says a guy who hasnt tried any other options lol
Not sure why you would assume that. Before the AirPods Pro were released, I owned the Bose SoundSport Free for over a year. I refused to purchase the original AirPods because I hate the earpod form.

Anyone else just not a fan of the ear 'plug' style of the Pro's? I don't understand how people say the regular AirPods don't stay in. I literally run with mine in and don't have to make any adjustments to them.
One size fits most is not one size fits all. The estimate is that the original AirPods (and EarPods) do not properly fit about 10% of the population. I had problems with mine regularly falling out of my left ear just walking. AirPod Pros work much better for me, though I replaced the original silicone tips with third-party hybrid silicone/memory foam tips for a better fit.

<shrug> When mine finally die (AirPods v2, two years old in March), I won't be replacing them. They're a nifty-once, but they're certainly not worth the asking price.

I got ear aches and exacerbated tinnitus with my regular Air Pods but they fit very well and never fell out. My Air Pods Pro don’t cause me any discomfort but like all my other ear plug style buds, they work their way loose and pop out constantly.
There are third party tips for AirPod Pros that come in different sizes.

I recieved a gift of an Airpods knockoff, basically an exact clone, they were nice but eventually the design was a problem for my ears, to easily fell out sometimes. Misplaced or dropped out. I could not see paying such high prices for the same design. With a bit of research, I'm quite happy with the quality of my earbuds now which remain secure in my ears and that were far more reasonable at a quarter of the cost of Airpods. Many things Apple does are just silly to pay for.

The difference is AirPods have been about for years and sold very very well. The mini has only been out a few months and hasn't sold well.

Less out time means less reason to put on these painful little toys instead of proper over ear headphones.

How long have you had the Powerbeats pro? I had a pair of Beats X that died right outside of the 1 year warranty and have been afraid to touch the beats brand since.

More fake Nikkei news. Thought they gave up when they were dead wrong for years, but I guess they’re back.

I understand the frustration if your battery dies (has reduced charging capacity).

However there are lots of disposable products that get consumed over time. Athletic shoes are expensive and often last just 1-2 years (for a marathoner maybe 6 months). It’s not a new concept.

I went from the Beats X to the Powerbeats Pro, and as much as you are going to question my sanity, I had 3 sets of BX replaced by Apple as I had every single known issue. When I lost them I was actually relieved!!

So are the PBP any good (I've had them 2+ years now)? Yes. Battery life is great, they are secure (I run a lot), sound wise better than the BX but only 'ok' and they work well in the Apple eco system (even find my works with them now). Downsides (and these are not deal breakers)? Case is huge - ridiculously so and you have to carry it with you. Why? Well, if one channel is not connected to your device you have to reseat it in the case to get it to connect. The right channel has a habit of not charging (makes sure it is well and truly seated in the case) and this has happened to a friend too. The play button is right where you would press to force the headphone in further.

My wife has the APP - the spatial sound is amazing - that is the one thing it has that the PBP don't. But I prefer the long battery life on the PBP v APP.
