i WAS holding out for the iPhone 6...

Guess I might be jumping ship now.

Only way I could pay $100 More...

NFC (can't stress this enough)
32GB (Standard)
Unlimited Cloud storage
Longer bater life
Stronger Glass. (I don't want Thinner AT ALL)

ALL of these and more must apply, otherwise, I can't think of anything that would make me pay more. It's already the most expensive, and it doesn't do everything.

No way they increase their prices (especially now that there's more competitors).

Plus, let's look at the source of this "info".

Besides, when was the last time you saw Apple *increase* the price of an already established product?

The price of the base model iMac has crept up from £999 to £1149 over the past two years in the UK. So they have been known to.

If this is true then I assume that it would be for the 5.5" version which makes sense since it will be competing against the Note 3 which sells for $299 (when it first hit the market).

That sounds about right but you better forget about NFC and unlimited cloud, the rest seems like a must if it has to compete with the other iPhone models. Everybody already pays the 100 dollar extra just for storage, this doesn't seem like a big deal to start higher with more storage.

Price

If they release the iPhone 6 with a greater cost than Android phones like s3, z2 and HTC. I'd probebly switch. I've had 3 iPhones now and I have to say that I rather buy an Android if Apple aren't doing anything extra. The only reason I'd keep it to iPhone is because of Airplay.

Apple really needs to implement, more open apps (like a computer have), like the 30sec recharge thingy, a really good iWatch that will blow galaxy gear to hell, waterproof?, and some other stuff that probebly only Apple can come up with and maybe myself after 70cl of vodka.

I'll pay the extra $100. I don't want to, but it doesn't matter. If the i6 is as sexy as the MacRumor mockups, I'll buy it.

Eh. Windows Phones are looking pretty good these days. I'd either go there, or continually stay one iPhone generation behind in order to save some cash. Assuming, of course, that they're not providing something nice to justify that extra $100 I'll be paying.

Hell, I'm already 3 generations behind with my iPhone 4, and I don't feel any pressing need to upgrade.

I agree on that. Wish more people would give WinMO some love so we don't get that 90% OS share again. Been thinking about getting the Lumia 1020 off and on myself. Have a 4s, which I am fine with at the moment.

Can't wait for Ive at the keynote to babble on with that pompous way for 5 minutes about the i6 being thinner etc.. etc... always comedy gold for me.

I wouldn't be paying $100 more, no way. In Canada the 16GB 5s is priced at $229, so that would be $329 for the base model locked in for two years. Why would I do that when I can get a Nexus for $20 more unlocked and not locked in? Makes no sense what so ever, if the Nexus 6 is priced around the same then I'll be jumping ship for sure.

if saphire is used for the screen that $100 is easily justifiable.

Oh and 32gb baseline of course.

Don't get me wrong, I still much prefer the simple elegance of using iOS over Android but at the end of the day I use my phone for email, web and obvious freely-availably apps for things like Twitter.

The few killer apps I have on iOS, like Beatmaker 2 for instance, are really only gimmicks on a small phone screen and I use that almost entirely on iPad.

So some massively expensive phone just isn't that appealing anymore, especially as I prefer to spend a tiny sum with giffgaff and buy the device off contract.

Maybe time to just go get a Nexus 5.

On the many website I maintain, of mobile traffic it's Amazing that iOS still seems to deliver two to three times the traffic of Android, although it's increasing. The funny thing I've never Windows Phone traffic break 1% on any site.

For the first time in a long time, I'm really worried about Apple.

They endeared themselves to me as a creator of great products, with great vision and direction.

Now they just seem directionless. If the rumours are true (and they usually largely are):

- Apple is going to fragment iOS applications by introducing multiple new screen sizes after going with a half-assed solution for the 5/5S.
- After having just one iPhone for so long, Apple is finally going to split the product line. The only trouble is they seem to be reaching for an even higher premium device, when the market is growing at the other end. Also, screen size isn't enough to save the iPhone any more; that'll just bring them up to par. An iPhone needs to exceed the competition.
- They aren't going to win their patent war against Samsung; they're going to have to live with the fact that Samsung and Google stole their crown jewels.
- Recent courtroom disclosures have removed lots of Apple's lustre. Internally they seem scared and frustrated.
- Recent high-profile employee losses (Forstall, Christie, basically everyone from every company they acquire)
- Apple still can't come close to competing with Google on the crucial aspect of services. Google update their services continuously; Apple releases minor patches once a year. iTunes Radio hasn't expanded, and rumours of a Spotify clone would be a disaster (Spotify is already established and well-loved).
- Microsoft is putting together a much more compelling platform than ever before.
- iWatch's body analytics does not sound like something of incredible mass-market appeal.

This is deeply unsettling. For the first time ever, Apple no longer have the best products, the best team, the best vision or the best direction.

Sell your stock. This is it.

What I'd like to see is an iPhone 5S or even 4S size with feature upgrades, touch ID, sapphire crystal display, A8 chip, and 128 gb storage..

The price doesn't matter to me. What's another $100?

Yes, it doesn't matter if it's 100 more as long as it has a smaller form factor and has all the upgrades.

How many electronic devices do you have with sapphire screens now?

This is something I don't really understand as far as comments. People willing to accept $100 for (only) a sapphire screen. Do you think it's that magical to resist breaking, scratching, etc? I think it might be "better" - but is that really worth $100?

People are getting way too bent out of shape on a rumor. We have no idea if this alleged price increase is real or which phone it will affect.

Not agreed. I am not looking for smaller screens. Bigger would be way better IMO. What I said is don't make it so big that I cannot use it with one hand.

I'm not sure bigger than 4" is going to be easy to use with one hand. Plus, it's getting too damn big at that point for my jeans pocket.

I doubt it. Apple could easily just sell these in their store as an unlocked device and it would still sell tens of millions from that alone. Also, I doubt either AT&T or Verizon would opt out, it would hurt customer retention. How else are they going to lock the majority of their smartphone users in a contract?

I doubt tens of millions would buy the phone for $750+ unsubsidized as the lower percentage of iPhone sales in the majority ofcountries without subsidies currently shows. If AT&T and Verizon stood firm together, what will the customers do? Leave for T-Mobile and Sprint? They take what is offered, buy the phone outright or switch to a carrier that can't compete with their networks. Like Apple's philosophy, take it or leave it. I doubt that this will happen either, but if it did, it will hurt Apple, IMO. Verizon did just fine when the iPhone was an AT&T exclusive. If AT&T and Verizon both dumped the iPhone, Sprint and T-Mobile would never be able to pick up the slack. Sprint's network leaves much to be desired in many parts of the country, not to mention the slowest data speeds overall.

The US is moving toward unsubsidized phones, Verizon is the last to get on the bus. Time will tell if they do or not. But as has been pointed out earlier, this will hurt all high priced phones, not just the iPhone. But then it makes it easy to see why the majority of the world uses those "crap Android phones" as so many here like to call them.

If this is true I'm going to think long and hard about switching to the S5 or the HTC One. Not because I can't afford it but because of their greed. I had every iPhone since the 3g, so I hope this isn't true.
