So, what about my 24" iMac that Apple sent me last year to replace the white 24" iMac that had a yellow, uneven display? The one they sent last March has the same issue. I figured they're all petty much like this.
Should I call Apple Care and complain?

However, six replacements I'm pretty sure sets you aside as maybe one of the only people in the world who has had such bad service.

Of course it's upsetting, but you must also try and maintain a perspective.

I've been let down in the past, others haven't. it's unfortunate, it is not a reason to completely damn the company and say that every model is a failure.

How many bad replacement TVs from Sony would you take before you stopped buying the brand? How many bad Xbox 360's? I bet it would be less than 6.

The service on our non-27 inch iMacs and failing G5s has been similar, except we are just told everything is a software problem and that we need to reformat.

Cut them some slack...........They really made you feel special, or you are either working at Apple.

That's non sense.

6 out 6 Imac that I had were faulty lol one rotten apple spoils all of the barrel.

On top of that I think they pissed on the barrel, therefore the reason for the yellowish glare!

6 iMacs in a row faulty?
If the 6 iMacs all had the same problem would'nt common sense say your computers aren't faulty..
Figure after the 3rd one you would figure that out.

WHAT ABOUT THE 21.5" iMACs!!?

What about the 21.5" screens!!? I feel like a second class citizen (or a Windows user) because of the lack of attention the 21.5" screens are getting. These screen have the same yellow issue! After returning two 21.5 " iMacs I requested a refund and have been waiting for the all clear. I consciously made the decision not buy a 27" I just do not have room for it.

When is Apple going to talk to WHOLE issue and not just smooth the issue for models that are "hot" and more in the eye of the press.

Agreed. This is not a new issue. The uneven iMac display goes back to the white 24" intel iMac.

You are absolutely wrong. You are using Apple sense not common sense. If the 6 iMacs all had the same problem real common sense says all iMacs are faulty.

scatches seem like they're caused by the casing not by the actual dvd/cd drive

No, it's the DVD drive. I had the exact same problem with the 13" MacBook Pro I bought. The Genius at the local Apple Store said he'd never seen anything like that. Graciously, the Apple Store not only gave me a new computer, they also replaced without question my ruined copies of Logic and Final Cut.

I'm glad, though, that I opted for the MacBook instead of the 27" iMac I was planning to purchase. The new machine seems to be running fine so far. But I may end up getting the 27" eventually, just because I love that huge screen.

Dell; You need to call Microsoft is a softwore problem,
Microsoft: you need to call dell is Hardware problem

Lol...
Dell= You need to call Microsoft is a softwore problem
Microsoft= You need to call dell is Hardware problem
Apple= What problem??

It's a shame my screen has no problems...I wouldn't mind getting 15% back :p

I have had mine since day one and no issues at all. I can't believe this is really that big of a deal overall. I wonder what the percentage is? I am sure it's small for Apple to offer such a generous offer.

I had to call to exchange my second iMac tonight.

Nobody offered a 15% discount, that's for sure.

I had to argue with "Louie" for 15 min about whether or not the "variation" (yellow blotches) in my screen was normal before we were "accidentally" disconnected.

Upon calling back I counted myself lucky just to get someone who would listen. In any case, I don't really want some discount. I just want the computer I ordered on Dec. 19.

i find it aggrevating but interesting that

Apple employees cannot yet purchase the quad-cores with the norm emp. discount. i think this is due to these problems along with wanting to supply people with them who are paying full price. ive been waiting for too long, i hope they fix this problem soon :(

A good gesture by Apple.

Here's to hoping the early adopters for the iPad don't go through this crap. :(
They will. New device, new architecture, it will be a problem.

Boo hoo. Rev A adopters are being ****ed with and you can't buy something with your employee discount. Yes, my heart breaks.

fair enough ive just been waiting awhile for the quad cores only to see them riddled with problems. such great potential, yet such disappointing results. Apple is a great company, ill just wait my turn for the polished product

they won't offer you one, you are going to have to get through to the right people and get talking about 'good will gestures'

you clearly don't understand the hassle involved in this process. It is quite likely that the $300 doesn't even equate to the money lost by many customers. especially when you include:

1. lost time on the phone to applecare
2. lost time trying to get the thing working
3. lost productivity while the machine is down
4. lost cash getting to an applestore (in petrol etc)

Most people can't take the time off required to do these things, and if they do, they will likely be loosing money by missing work, or spending their free time (of which there is relatively little) faffing around with a computer that costs a lot of money.

I think it is the least that they could have done. However while I salute them for taking this action, I think that they should never have let it get to this point in the first place

Exactly. That was actually my issue described in the post. I had 4 27's, and the last one I had the bluetooth and wireless go in and out.

15% is the least Apple could do for me, as far as I'm concerned. Making multiple trips to Fedex to drop off or pick up my iMac, 8 trips to the Apple store, faxing signed agreements, long, drawn out phone calls with customer care, I didn't feel like Apple went out of their way to offer me something special.

And the 15% includes tax as well, so it's not exactly 15%. I have been dealing with this issue since November. I felt that with what I've been through, their offer was what any decent company would do.

Apple was apparently offering affected users the ability to return their machines for a full refund, as well as offering all affected users a refund of 15% of their purchase price.

Okay, so if you had an affected machine you can theoretically get a 115% full refund?

Anyway, I can imagine those iMacs dumped at the refurbished stockpile.

I'm still waiting for my iMac to ship out. I called Apple earlier today and they upgraded me to 2 Day shipping, without any additional cost. No questions asked.
