Totally agree with Mark. iFold or Foldable phone will be the major and biggest iPhone revamps ever. It will be the most user transformative, revolutionary and evolution iPhone experience ever in the Apple history and will be the root of other type of foldable type iPhones when Apple is ready to launch. So exciting!! ❤️❤️❤️It feels 1,000 years to the time of foldable iPhone launch!
yea, so big that will run iOS on the inner display, same like we had for the first ipad...so we are back in time 10 years

I’m not sure that a true edge-to-edge screen is desirable. I can see issues with inadvertent commands from simply holding the phone the “wrong” way.
it happens when you pick up the phone or place it on the table with the screen on...it can register actions already even with these thin bezels...with even thinner..

I recently fired up one of my original iPhone 2Gs, it’s really crazy to see how far we’ve come. Your memory of the device is often better than what it was actually like. As someone who lined up on launch day in 2007 I am excited to see what they pull off for iPhone XX

This rumoured 20th anniversary model should be coming out right about when I'd be naturally looking to upgrade from my 15 Pro if I stick with my established upgrade cycle! 👀

I was excited for the foldable iPhone because I was hoping the price could justify it becoming both an iPad and an iPhone. Learning it's running iOS, I don't think that's going to be the case.

This makes sense given Apple wants everyone to own multiple devices for their daily driving. If I could dream any device into reality, it would be an iPhone that could be docked to employ a keyboard, mouse, monitor that runs normal apps like Samsung Dex.

Heck, I would just love an iPad that ran pro apps while docked with a KVM.

Apple is working on "the biggest set of iPhone revamps in the product's history," according to the latest word from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Specifically, he is referring to the long-rumored foldable iPhone, as well as an ambitious 20th-anniversary iPhone with a truly "edge-to-edge" design.

In an in-depth profile of Apple's hardware engineering chief John Ternus, who is widely considered to be the leading candidate to become Apple's next CEO whenever Tim Cook steps down, Gurman said Ternus is "overseeing the biggest set of iPhone revamps in the product's history, including a foldable model this year and a version with an edge-to-edge screen that could arrive as early as 2027, for the device's 20th anniversary."

Apple is expected to unveil the foldable iPhone in September this year, while the 20th-anniversary iPhone would debut next year, if such a device materializes. Apple unveiled the original iPhone in January 2007, so the iconic device turns 20 next year.

Given the article was focused on Ternus, it did not provide any further details about these iPhone models, but there are already plenty of rumors.

Like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7, the foldable iPhone will open up like a book, providing users with a large screen for watching videos, playing games, and multitasking. iOS 27 is expected to be optimized for the foldable iPhone, allowing for side-by-side apps.

A few months ago, a report said the foldable iPhone will be equipped with a 7.7-inch inner display, and a 5.3-inch outer display. It was initially rumored that the device would have a virtually "crease-free" inner display, but it was later reported that Apple is using technology that "reduces the crease without eliminating it entirely."

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the foldable iPhone to have two rear cameras, one front camera, and a Touch ID power button instead of Face ID.

As for the 20th-anniversary iPhone, previous reports have indicated that the device will have a seamless design, with a curved glass enclosure and no cutouts in the display. To achieve this, the front camera would be located under the screen.

It is unclear if Apple will be able to pull off such a device by next year, but if it does, then it truly would be a big two years ahead for the iPhone.

“ curved glass structure “. Yuk. I sure hope not. That was a bad idea years ago when Samsung tried it and it’s still a bad idea today.

I think the 20th anniversary iPhone coming in 2027, the so-called iPhone XX, will essentially replace the iPhone Pro models. It will be available in both 6.3" and 6.9" sizes.

While the idea of a "revamped" iphone with "edge to edge design" sounds great, I'm not sure I'd want to purchasing a first generation version of that item. I guess I'll go for the 18, which sounds like it will really be a 17S, to hold the fort down for a couple of years.

The Neo is a hopeful sign that Ternus' aim is to remove notches entirely and to make access to hardware much easier.

The next few iPhones and MacBook Pro might signal if this is a trend or a one off example.

Although I'll probably end up with an 18, the 20th anniversary phone really has my interest. I'm excited to see what it's going to look like (please, please, make it portliness slab of glass!).

Apple would’ve been better off permanently making the menu bar on either side of the notch black the way some apps like TopNotch to keep the real estate but hide the visual break.

Can someone remind me, does the EU regulation prevent Apple from pursuing wireless charging only for the 20th anniversary device?
No. They’re seeking to make MagSafe standard if you don’t want to do usb-c to cut down on e-waste. I believe an exception was made for magsafe as an alternative. But nothing explicit yet.

No cable and a universal charger would be the next step. So they will eventually do it as part of their standardization inoperability protocol across different companies.
