iOS 27 will no longer include a long-rumored feature known as Apple Health+ inside Apple, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Apple Health+ was supposed to be a virtual health coach that could give users AI-powered health recommendations in the Apple Health app, based on their personal health data, the report said. The feature would have provided users with detailed health reports, videos that explained medical conditions and offered wellness tips, and more.

"The major new service would have combined new surveys and health assessments with data from Apple Watches and external lab reports," the report added.

It is unclear if Apple Health+ would have been a paid subscription service.

The feature is being scaled back instead of outright canceled. The report said some of the components of Apple Health+, such as suggestions based on existing Health app data, will be "repurposed and introduced as early as this year."

Apple Health+ was initially rumored to be an iOS 26 feature, so it was seemingly in development for a long time. But now, only bits and pieces of it will launch.

Apple's services chief Eddy Cue is apparently "considering changes" to Apple Fitness+ as well, but the report did not provide any specific details.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, it doesn’t matter what Apple does with virtual health, upgraded Siri, or anything AI, Apple will sell iPhones like hotcakes. Apple is unstoppable. It honestly feels like Apple is a brand that will last multiple human generations.. as in 100’s of years.. at least.

Does "long-rumored" mean more than a decade - like most other Apple rumors?

I'm still waiting for my car. And the real Apple TV Set. Soon...

Apple delays another thing months before being announced/released, what else is new?
No, this is a classic case of Gurman misunderstanding some rumor somebody sent him on Telegram, only to discover it was never actually what he said. He never takes responsibility for being wrong - instead he spins it as though Apple announced something and didn't deliver.

Good. Now let me turn off Workout Buddy. I’m fully capable of looking at a chart of metrics and don’t need them read to me.
Workout Buddy doesn't read you metrics. That's probably from the "Voice Feedback" toggle in Settings→Workout in the Watch app on your iPhone.

So basically someone made up a filler rumor, people never found any REAL reason to believe it, then when it didn’t seem to be panning out the people who made the initial claim pull the “oh it’s being scaled back/delayed/reimagined/cancelled” card and use it as as more filler.
Bloomberg has to sell newsletter subscriptions based on something.

They saw what Google Fitbit Health Coach would be capable of and panicked about how their Health+ app would compare.😂

That was probably another reason to enter into a partnership with Google.

I hope Google's AI will help Apple, the special needs AI student.

Thanks, Google!🙏
Nah. It never existed. Either someone was pulling Gurman's leg, or more likely, he completely misunderstood it.

Apple is treading into dangerous AI territory. Using consumer grade anatomy measurements fed into and analyzed by consumer AI is asking for possible liability issues.
Not sure what that means. Apple has published a number of papers on the real world use of wearable data for health related topics. For example, the use of accelerometer data from wearable devices to identify and monitor something like 60 health conditions. Or, the use of sensors on wearables like Apple Watches for collecting data for research purposes -- for example, the ECG functionality of the Apple Watch was the first consumer device approved for collection of research data.

This is just another instance of Gurman getting something wrong, and writing an article to make it appear like Apple did something wrong, rather than accepting responsibility for his error.

I think they figured out that people were already getting health/workout/lifestyle planning for free from a number of free AI platforms and another questionable Apple subscription would fail.

The only thing Apple doesn't scale back is AppleTV. Those 🤓 executives do like to hang out with Hollywood celebrities

Was not looking forward to this. So I am not going to miss it if it gets delayed. Don't want another subscription service. Besides not sure whether it would have been made available globally at launch.

Maybe they looked at how other paid health and fitness subscriptions were received (see Garmin Connect+). Using an LLM to spit out a few pointless summaries and some motivational marketing fluff isn’t really that appealing to most people. Hopefully they didn’t want to go down that route.

Not bothered. I don't need another something else telling me to put down the pie and move more. 😀
It is working, that I tell myself to put the pie down... I am using Yazio to monitor what I eat, but looking at the kCal/100g on the packaging of most products makes me feel ill! Those chips look good, oh, if I eat them, I can't eat anything else today, maybe I won't eat them!

I've lost 13Kg since the beginning of December. But I hate that Yazio is always nagging, "hey, great that you are eating a salad, but consider eating more vegetables with your salad!" WTF? Or a veggie burger, consider eating more vegetables instead of a burger... Erm, it is 100% vegetable! 🤣 🤣
