Of all game company acquisitions they could consider, EA is probably the worst.

Maybe they could make it better, but why not go with one that has a better history/reputation and better games?

Then again, if their focus is on mobile games, then go for it. Mobile games are the worst, anyway, so this would be a fitting pairing.
Despite being hated EA has strong brand recognition. They still sell millions of titles, and if Apple can get a few positive reviews by scrapping DLC they can give Apple Arcade a massive bump.

You might want to read up on that, bud. The FIFA contract was one of dozens of contracts. All the FIFA contract gave them was the name of the game and the ability to have a world cup branded tournament in game.

They keep all the likenesses, teams, and basically everything that makes the game desirable.

I did bud and they'll keep most but not all so while the EA press release would obviously want you to believe they have everything they don't and their press release doesn't talk about this. So while it appears FIFA granted them an extension for their next game, the one after that will be different unless something changes. If EA is trying to sell or merge do you really think they can afford FIFA licensing?

If only they put EA titles into Apple Arcade so we can play the game without microtransactions. Or perhaps Ubisoft would be better for this..

Yup, FIFA 23 is the last one. After that it’s EA Sports FC. And it’ll still have all the stadiums, players, teams, etc as FIFA 23. Just a different name and no more World Cup branding. This isn’t really speculation at this point. Everyone knows it. To continue to deny it only digs yourself a larger hole.

Did you read the link you posted?
“EA will still retain most of the team and player likenesses that have made its game so popular”

Then talk with Apple. Apple IS terrible for gaming and it always has been and always will be.

Nobody who games, games on anything Apple

I would love Ubisoft as part of Apple Arcade. Although I would argue that Ubisoft's DLC is on the more tolerable side.

Two things, I wonder if the marketing people used the old, “you can’t spell Apple without EA”.

Second, do you think they showed Apple the first five slides of the proposal and then started charging $1 per page to see everything after? I imagine in this scenario Apple would just say, “how about we just go ahead and give you $10 and you stop this nonsense”. Then EA would say, “um, we don’t know how else to do it”. And Apple, “fine. This should cover to the end”. EA, “we actually don’t have any more. No one’s called our bluff before. Hopefully we can add that into next years proposal, it’ll just cost more to get the beginning pages again and the one new page we’ll add.”

Edit: grammar/spelling

I feel like this was because Microsoft tried to use leverage of their hardware against Nintendo, however I would imagine a new approach by Apple today wouldn’t be met with the same reaction.
What I have read was that MS had no understanding of JP culture.

Hope it happens
So they can fire/shame the ****ing losers that keep giving us that lazy rehashed garbage Madden every year, and potentially give us a true NFL game since Apple don’t play around with quality

Personally, I would rather see them expand Apple Arcade by adding Apple Arcade Studio and go after/help small game developers bring their games to the ecosystem. There are a lot of games on iOS that would be great on computer if the developers brought them. Pretty much all the Final Fantasy games (I love RPGs)…

I have a theory! Apple has held meetings to acquire MGM, A24, Disney, EA, LionsGate, Paramount+, HBO/WB, AMC, SkyDance, Canoo Cars, Roku, etc. They aren't holdings these meetings for potential purchases. I think they hold these meetings to gain information about future competitors. Apple is doing this is see where they rank in comparison to its rivals.
