Marathon targets this part:
Again, a 28 year old game does not counter what I said.

Get back to me when AAA titles can run on a Mac without massive underclocking and turning the graphic capabilities down to near zero.

Actually, get back to me when AAA titles even show UP on a Mac, much less run halfway decently.

I'll wait.

The optics of this purchase wouldn't be very good.

EA is long considered an "evil" company, and was previously voted the "worst company in America"

Actually on second thought, Apple's PR & marketing spin could be exactly what EA needs.
EA was considered evil due to the insane amount of micro-transactions they now make. Basically, a base game that doesn't work unless you pour more money into it. Furthermore, many of their legacy games came out badly designed and reviewers were not kind to them. (See SimCity always-connected ordeal).

EA lost itself to profiteering instead of making their games the best ones.

There is one game, Cities: Skylines. The one game plus its expansions that made SimCity look like a joke.

Wait...what?

Apple should have bought Adobe.

Turned the whole creative suite Mac only. just like Logic and Final Cut Pro.

Then Apple will get out of that Less than 10 percent Global macOS usage they have been in for like 15 years at least.

macOS usage globally would hit 30 percent. Maybe more.

Games. HO HUM. Boring and not that important

I assume this is sarcasm....

@Relentless Power thoughts?

Game is one of the biggest market and it's hard to ignore. Beside, Apple already gain tons of money from their own platform with mobile game. Having EA on their side will be beneficial. It's time to acquire EA to increase the gaming revenue since others are already doing that such as MS and Sony.

The question is are they really interested in macOS gaming?

Arcade has a ton of potential as a subscription service. Getting EA's library would blow it through the roof.\

This would lend credibility to the idea that the next Apple TV won't be an Apple TV, but a console. Apple silicon ain't no joke. Drop that in a game console and it can play in the big leagues.

And not a single one of you.... probably not even Apple (for years) realizes that The Sims 2 (yes an outdated version of EA's The Sims franchise) has consistently been the #1 Top Paid Games app on the Mac App Store. Yes, #1. For weeks. Months. Months. Non-stop. Consistently. Always on top. Always. Always. Always #1.

I'm an AAPL shareholder, and I want AAPL to succeed, because the company's success is parallel to my investment. But a business cannot succeed if it has no clue and does not even realize what it's best-selling products are. Some executive in charge of the App Store metrics should be fired for not noticing this, for not taking advantage of this long ago.

I want some SimCity 2000, SimAnt, SimFarm, SimEarth, and SimTower ports or remastered versions. Bring back the old Maxis catalog.

EA is on the downfall so I highly doubt Apple is going to want to fix all their issues. Battlefield franchise is a mess, The Sims is irrelevant, and they just lost their FIFA license. Additionally, it would take a long time for Apple to implement or use any of the IP so other than having your name associated with it there's not much else. Last "big" named company Apple bought was Beats by Dre and they were on the upswing then.
Battlefield is a complete dumpster fire. Its crazy when BF3 and BF4 seem to have a bigger player base then 2042. TBH I think if Apple did acquire EA then Battlefield would be in an even worse position.

You said Apple IS terrible for gaming and it always has been and always will be.

Well one of the most popular games of the 90's was a Mac exclusive. What you said is wrong.
Feel free to revise your stance, but your statement was wrong.

Also, Apple now has the most profitable mobile gaming platform in the world. AAA means nothing. Apple is a gaming juggernaut.

Won't lie, it'd be pretty cool to get EA Games IPs as apple silicon native games for my M1 Ultra.
Even the 48-core option I have is pretty decent.

Apple is a gaming juggernaut.
I back this statement. The difference between mobile gaming on iOS vs Android is night and day. There are still decade-old quality titles like Tiny Wings that will never get released on Android and if you play a lot of mobile titles, Apple Arcade is a really good value subscription that is worth it just to hide IAP from your kids. In its favour Android has a bottomless pit of emulators and streaming platforms but these are legally dubious or require a constant internet connection.

To paraphrase a well known Photography saying 'the best gaming device you have is the one with you' and your iPhone (or Android) is constantly on your person.

Jobs knew the value of gaming as a utility; he wouldn't have had Sega up on stage at the App Store reveal in 2008 if he didn't and Apple even managed to get Nintendo and Miyamoto on stage for Mario Run!

What is stopping game publishers like EA, from already releasing their multiplatform games on the macOS? It can't be performance, right? I mean aren't the latest M1 computers at least as powerful as the Nintendo Switch?
Is it a matter of not being X86? Something else?
How would acquiring someone like EA change any of the issues blocking the release of games on the macOS?

Maxis is known for SimCity.
EA is known for destroying the SimCity franchise.
