Apple Reportedly Targeting Mid-December for iOS 4.3 Release

I think they are more suited towards ringtones. At least they should be ringtones. I don't mind the email tone.

They're all too long except for Noir, Telegraph and Typewriters. Noir doesn't seem right for a text. Typewriters is too goofy. I'll try Telegraph for a while but I bet I'll be back to Chime by Friday.

"...initial issues found in AirPlay..." What, pray tell, are those? I know about the issues with AirPrint only supporting a handful of HP network printers right now, but I can use Printopia to work around that. However I want to get a new Apple TV to replace my old one. I want to get it like yesterday but I want it to work. Are their significant AirPlay issues at present? If so, what are they?

How about you take a video with your iPhone 4 but CAN NOT stream it to your tv via ATV2 - oops, sorry - that must be a "feature".

Pathetic on Apple's part - I'm slowly converting from an Apple "fanboy" to a critic.

"It's likely that 4.3 will also address the initial issues found in AirPlay"

Certainly the inability to stream iPhone 4 video through the ATV2 can't be an oversight or an "issue" unless they just don't test their product prior to release.

I could see an OS 4.2.2 maintenance release (just opaque 'bugfixes'). Maybe they will call it 4.3 instead. The iOS numbers are a lot less meaningful than those for Mac OS.

Free MobileMe

This mobile me thing has got me excited. My account was recently going to expire and out of no where they gave me an extra 36 days of service for free. Do they do this often?

As a number of bugs and problems in iOS increases with each release, Apple have to accelerate release schedule. This is presumably to fix the issues but with this quality control situation will only get worse.

Oh, video streaming works, but not video taken with a 4 (and presumably a 3GS) w/o an intermediary import to a Mac, PC, or perhaps another other iOS device. Not a deal-breaker for me. I'm primarily interested, in order of importance, streaming from iPhone/iPad: music, photos, audio from other apps as applicable (if the iOS version of djay deals well with the delay; if Korg updates iElectribe to handle the delay; etc., and these are toy interests rather than anything I do for work) youtube streaming, commercial video like movies and TV.

Mainly music, though I know this seems pedestrian. People say, but we already have Airtunes, but my point is, not from my iPhone or iPad. I gotta have my Mac on, iTunes open, remote app installed, blah, blah.

Has anyone considered that streaming a HD video through your wifi will use up quite a bit of bandwidth on your network? Maybe that's why apple don't want you doing it.

I could give a damn.

When are we going to get better notifications? I hope we don't have to wait until iOS 5.0!

You really think Apple is going to overhaul a UI element in a simple update? Of course not, it will be in 5.0 at the minimum. I'm not even sure Apple is convinced that their notifications system needs any tweaking.

Nice to see an aggressive schedule for iOS progression.

Subscription style payment is HUGE for developers. It let's them offer services as well as one-off Apps. It's a big deal for content creators as well.

Not interested in reading anything coming out of News Corp, but if this means reasonably priced Wired Magazine (read: $10-20/year, or same-to-double what the paper edition costs), then I can't wait.

yeah, I don't understand all this focus and attention a propaganda has gotten, and why Apple is working so closely with them. Does Apple not know anything about the people who use their products?

But if whatever backend stuff done here can be applied to legitimate magazines and sources of news, then that would be a great step forward for the iPad to be used as a replacement for magazines and newspapers.

LAME! :p, Am I the only one tired about hearing about iphones and ipads =/ not that I don't have an ipod touch, just tired of all this news about iOS..

Quit whining! You had your back-to-the-mac period in October! Enough is enough. Now it's all about my iPhone until WWDC 2011, at least.

Can't you just be impartial?

Videos from the camera roll stream fine once they're in regular folders synced from iTunes. Unless iTunes re-encodes them while syncing they're the same size as when they were shot.

"News" brought to you by the planet's chief right wing prick. And abetted by Apple, which, sensing another flow into which it can jam its blood funnel, is only too glad to help.

Line up, children. Mr. Murdoch has a few things to explain to you.
