The real question is do you want to buy a version 1.0 device?

I'm sure it will be great compared to the others. But it will be at a price.

Has lots of possibilities. I'm sure the ship date will be pushed beyond the launch of the iPhone. So more will buy it.

If the battery life is great I will buy one. Other wise I will wait.

Why do you think that people need to know the feature set to know if they will buy it or not at $400? Most people in the street could give you an answer. I couldn't care less about a, b or c, i'm not paying $400 for an iWatch.

I'm not paying $400 for ANY watch, I work too hard for my money to spend that amount for something that has to be plugged in every couple days. My phone connects to my in car audio system so it's always charged.

Well they did say the iPad would be north of $1000 so here's hoping.

That's the exact thing I've been telling people who've seen reports of a $400 iWatch. I wouldn't be suprized if the iPad & iWatch price rumors were purposely "leaked" by Apple so they can woo the crowd when they announce the iWatch will start at $249.99; just like they did when the iPad was given a $499.99 price tag.

Let's remember this is a fashion accessory. People pay over $400 for watches all the time. I just hope they're reserving that price for one of their high end models which I'm assuming will have fancy styling. If they have a simplistic low end model closer to $100, I would probably buy that. I would only consider paying more if they add some very useful functionality that I haven't heard of yet.

I think if Apple wants teenagers to have their watches too, they're going to have to have a low end model not too much more than $100.

to all you cheapskates out there you will pay $800 for a new iPhone every year but won't pay $400 for a watch. Keep in mind that people pay thousands of dollars for watches that only tell the time. There will be a big market for this however if only the rich buy it that would actually really strengthen Apples brand compared to if everyone could afford it.

People buy watches that will last through many decades of use. They are primarily fashion pieces that retain their value and pretty much last forever. The iWatch or whatever it will be called may replace a traditional watch for some, but let's not pretend that will be the norm. It's a tech piece, with a limited lifespan. I think the comparison to traditional watches isn't very valid.

The only way Apple is getting those prices is if they partner with fashion brands for the design/build. Like Burberry, Tag Heuer, Omega, Movado, or heck, even Diesel. Otherwise there's no way I'm spending $400 on a smart watch that is only used for NFC or to just help track my health. If true, what a weak-ass product. Epic fail in the making.

While I agree, there are plenty of people out there that will line up to get their hands on the "latest and greatest" from Apple regardless of price.

People don't buy Rolexes for the band.

You misunderstood me.
I meant that Rolex owners don't want to replace their rolexes with some cheapo watch from Apple.
Neither will Tim cook and jony ive so I am hoping that the "watch" from apple will not be a watch at all but rather just some fitbit type of a device.

Apple did hire the tag heur guy and the Burberry CEO. It's not going to then come out with a plastic pebble also-ran device.

$400 isn't really that much if it does indeed do all that it is said it will. Especially if it's a great looking watch at the same time. It's all relative. Look at the Withings Activité. Beautiful watch that is going to retail for $390 and it doesn't even do heart rate tracking/sweat analysis/glucometer, only motion.

Bookmark this thread everyone. I promise you every person who has posted complaints about the potential price will be pissing themselves on the 9th and begging Apple to take their money. The complaints then won't be about the price, but why we can't buy it until 2015.

I'd buy it. More expensive means more exclusive as fewer purchase. Fine with me...

Me right now: I am so furious that Apple would DARE charge $400. I cannot believe this. I have never been this angry.

Me 2 weeks from now: "I'll take two, please. One for each wrist."

It's nice that you suggest anyone who doesn't spend $400 on an unannounced tech item is a cheapskate. Your mother must be proud:rolleyes:. The list of fallacies here is the tendency to assume that Apple's business model parallels that of a luxury brand. They have outgrown the luxury brands by being able to maintain higher than average price points on mass market items with high repurchasing rates. What you suggest is exactly the opposite of what made them successful, and they're too big of a company at this point to rely on such a small segment of the overall population.

Why not. Get to enjoy it early on and there's a chance it'll be coveted & valuable in future like the original iPhone... or Apple TV2...

Some of these renderings are pretty hideous. I wouldn't pay $400 for half of them.

My take this is a controlled leak looking for response just like this.

If anything, these will be come very collectable items and a small investment.

Ah, makes sense.

I don't believe Apple would make a new device which requires users to have another device in order for it to work properly. It singles out a large percentage of consumers if they do. An example of this would be the google glass.

If anything, this new wearable device would be a category of it's own that also has advanced features for iOS users. We'll see. I'm looking forward to this and @ $400, the high-end version better be worth it.

First iPod wouldn't work correctly if you didn't have a Mac. One complaint about iPhones for awhile was that you had to sink it to a computer.

Haha you're silly. I guess he does like the laid blackness of not being the head guy, but I truly do think he emulates Steve's passion in a way.

Apple executives after reading the comments on the article: "Fine not $400, we'll make it $399 and call it magical"

$199 sounds good

too low. $299 maybe but not $199. not for a full featured item. Folks are already buying the Pebble for $150, Fitbit etc for $150-199. The iWatch is supposed to be both of them and perhaps a bit more so Apple will go for what the market will bear. And their 'make them feel like they are getting a bit of luxury' attitude will hope the market bears more than $199.

To me, $400 is reasonable if it's gonna be a standalone device that can take/make calls on its own etc. But to be iPhone's sidekick, not so.
