The new cheap iPads are selling, got to pad those unit numbers :)
Given that both iPad Revenue and unit sales increased hard to say that just the cheaper iPads are driving this. I've been using the new 10.5 for a few weeks, it really is everything I had ever hoped the iPad could be.

AAPL up over 5% in after hours trading. Can’t remember the last time that happened.
I think it happened last earnings report, if not one of the recent ones. They've been doing well lately. I personally don't think they can keep it up because I've lost faith in the foundation of the company, but it's still been going up since I sold.

I remember the scary times a few years back when I had a lot of shares, and it kept going down even after what looked like good news, until Carl Icahn stepped in and bought a ton. Props to him for making that call. It was very frustrating for shareholders to watch these stupid banks making negative predictions, and now they've probably paid for it.

And before that, there was some huge crash in fall 2012. Some long-time Apple hater here, I forget his name, was so cooly predicting $30/share, and this was before the 7-way split. I held it through the recovery but sold after, so I definitely missed out, but my S&P500 I traded it for did well anyway.

Without knowing if ASPs were up or down you can’t make that claim. Of course we know you’re just trolling.

I'm a long time iPad owner, but I've been really disappointed with iOS being so weak. I recently got the 10.5 pro, and I'm running iOS 11 on it. All I can say is wow, I am on this thing a TON now. iOS11 for iPad is a massive step forward, and I have to say the new 10.5 120hz display is astonishingly better. Everything feels so much comfortable on it now... going back to my 9.7.. cramped, very cramped. Going back to iOS10, hurp... bravo the Apple crew for making the iPad so much better this year.

Doesn't seem to apply in iOS vs Android analyst articles. It's always "it is because they sell cheap handsets, it doesn't count, Apple makes the profit bla bla"
But that's because it's true -- no other single manufacture makes big numbers in sales, OR in profit. Apple rules both. I know that hurts. But you will survive this.

In fairness, I think the gross revenue for iPads was up 2%, so if unit sales are up it must be from lower priced models. Nothing wrong with that though, the new iPad was around for the entire quarter, while the new Pros were released at the end of the quarter.

Geez it's entertaining to see the depression posted when Apple releases positive results. Other than Samsung, who has a new promotion every week, and Microsoft with licensing, who exactly is making money selling Android Phones? Thanks for the laugh.

I'm pleased with the good iPad results and they are well deserved, i bought two 10.5 models and they are super, great camera with a huge viewfinder. :)

Your math is off iPad revenue was up 14.7%, while units were up 15% all from previous quarter... Sounds like a pretty healthy mixture of Pros and cheaper iPads to me.

Even if sales were down Apple still makes a ton of margin selling devices with surplus components like 750p old gen LCD displays.

It's funny how offering a great product (iPad) at a lower price, results in increased revenue and sales.
Add to that, an iOS that has a decent file system makes the iPad truly productive in the eyes of many who saw it previously as just a consumption device.

So happy to see iPad returning to growth not only quarter over quarter but year over year. These new models are fantastic and I'm using my 10.5" Pro all day every day.

I use my iPad Pro 12.9 inch every day too. At work and home. It hasn’t replaced my iMac yet. But it does handle 90% of my tasks very well and is light and handy. IOS11 points to more features and functionality on this light powerful and power efficient platform.

iPhone channel inventory dropped by 3.3 million units. That means iPhone sell-through might have been down a small bit YoY. We can't say for sure because they only report channel inventory changes to the tenths (of a million) digit.

Says the guy that has no idea what he's talking about.....

Show me that panel being used anywhere else. Go ahead. It's an Apple customized variant (any OEM can purchase tweaks to standard products if they pay for it) that simply doesn't exist anywhere but the iPad.

Just goes to show you, new good products makes new money. Sorry no dividend increase, but I'll take the .63.

Let's see if Apple can win the Triple Crown in a few months.
