The big success of MBA M1 and the coming of MBP's are the result of:

1. Jony Ive has gone his own ways and (was) made to give the way free for reasonable products with multiple sockets (they just forgot to give one USB A – because so many people still use and exchange it) and MagSafe and a stable keyboard without Touch Bar.

2. Apple give every product the best features and abilities possible and do not further suppress free competition between e.g. MBA / MBP or MBA / iPad Pro.

3. Change to Apple chip architecture.

Right decisions and good products at market after an austerity period of 5 (!) years

Well done! 👍 🤩 :apple:

1. Same design in this MBA that Jony Ive designed so sorry get your facts straight. The chip and soc internals have nothing to do with Ive though don’t confuse the two.

2. Apple long ago already suppressed the lineup. The MacBook has been gone after 2015/2016 so the least costing portable from Apple is the MBA and thus higher asp since the more expensive poor selling last MacBook is gone.

Arguably the Macbook Air is the new Macbook.

Says a guy owning Ryzen 7 2700X / 16 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD / RTX 3060 Ti / Windows 11 ?
Now if I could only carry my desktop around as easily as the MacBook Air. Virtual desktop streaming, even the free version of GeForce Now is amazing when I have a good connection. Sometimes I will just fire up a Steam game in bed to check something out with a few clicks.
