Oh capitalism... Sad to see regular people focused so hard on the profit of a single corporation (including the entire stock exchange, which is basically like betting on horse races). Also sad to see that corporation focused so hard on its own profits, neglecting quality or ideals where it doesn't make them more money.

Maybe just pissed that he thought about buying Apple stock and decided not to?

And you're basing your opinion on what exactly???

Maybe the huge "antennagate" scandal which some think is the end of Apple an the biggest issue in the world right now. "Android FTW" in reality it is a blip and means nothing outside of the blog world where it has been overhyped.

Apple will meet or exceed their 4th qtr forecast, mark my words!

Oh capitalism, responsible for high standards of living, amazing technology, freedom of choice, the ability for a couple of college dropouts to become anything they wanted. Such a shame ;)

This made me LOL, and I don't think you meant it to.:)

Interesting. I knew AAPL would have a record revenue quarter, but the $3.25 billion profit was way under my $4-$4.5 billion estimate. MSFT will probably come in with $4.5 billion profit on as much revenue as AAPL had, maintain their profit margin advantage.

It means the same thing he says every quarter.:p

I remember SJ saying that when Apple were struggling with the slow G4 processors - the G5 was still a year from release. All that was released were small speed bumps in its entire PC range. Very sad time.

That year, Apple came out with nothing great, maybe some new iPods, but nothing special.

Anyway, things have changed. I'm sure Apple will release nice products soon.

Nice numbers, Steve & Co.

I hope some of those "amazing new products" include a new MacPro. By the way, while I'm sitting on Santa's lap, could you bring back a wireless keyboard with a number pad and a revised iSight or better yet, refresh your line of ACDs and drop an iSight into them? Oh and since I'm feeling especially greedy today, I let you in on a little secret...I'm replacing a couple of really old TVs in my house this holiday season. If you update the AppleTV, I might include a few them in my buying spree. Thanks!

Well since both companies focus on entirely different types of product you can't really make a direct profit margin comparison and have it mean anything substantial...

Apple stock has been a great investment for me for the last 2 years, thank you S.J keep up the good work. Not only making money on Apple stock but enjoying the hell out of my Apple products, especially my iPhone 4!!!:D:D:D

It's all lies, you know. Everyone knows that Macs are overpriced and underpowered, that the iPad is a dumb product that doesn't fill anyone's needs, and that the iPhone doesn't even compare to brick-sized, car-mounted devices we had back in the '80s. Sheesh, y'all are dumb for falling for this.

;)

But then we can't play fanboy games of "my daddy is better then your daddy". :p

I bought 20,000 share in 2001 with my inheritance. I'm cashing out in a few months as I am retiring

That could quite possibly be a result of microsoft making thin plastic wafers in cardboard boxes and Apple making expensive to manufacture computers.

How much of that came from $29.99 bumpers because Apple CSRs (customer service representatives) were told not to "appease" the angry customers with free bumpers?

Ah, such an ethical company Apple is. Oh, but let's go back to trashing a Microsoft or a Google for earning a profit, shall we?

Apple did the right thing by waiting to see if the antenna issue was a problem that affected more than just a handful of people -- which, let's face it, it pretty much is. Then they announced that they'd refund people's money if they bought a bumper, even though the problem affects a minority of users. What kind of impossible standard for corporate ethics are you holding them to?

On a different note, I think it's a little funny that a person with the username "voldemort" is commenting on ethics :)

Let me guess, you signed up just so you could bitch about the antenna problems? Now you come into a thread and spew garbage unrelated to the topic of discussion. If you have nothing constructive to say, why post anything at all?

But MSFT has 2x as many employees. Labor is the #1 cost for a company.
