Feel free to hop the next flight to China, North Korea, or Venezuela.

Just don't forget that China is the main source of almost EVERYTHING we buy, including Apple devices; besides, the US are probably way more "communist" than most countries nowadays, mostly due to their self-inflicted financial blunders and disguised State participation in companies...

As a free-market conservative American I love it when companies rake in mega-profits like Apple. I believe companies, and people, are allowed to make however much they want. I reject salary caps, profit caps, and higher taxes for successful Americans.

I often wonder how many Apple fanboys have blasted oil companies, insurance companies, medical companies, etc for making outrageous profits. To put things into perspective, Apple's profit margin was 22.7%, while the average oil company's profit margin is 4-7%, and your average insurance company's profit margin is about 3%.

Kind of ironic considering a great many Apple supporters lean to the left, at least from what I've gathered.

Maybe the huge "antennagate" scandal which some think is the end of Apple an the biggest issue in the world right now. "Android FTW" in reality it is a blip and means nothing outside of the blog world where it has been overhyped.

Apple will meet or exceed their 4th qtr forecast, mark my words!

And that means just what? Is the famine in many countries solved by this? Is the abuse of women in large parts of Africa stopped by this? Of course not, this is not how the game is played. The stakeholders are satisfied, the Chinese factories that churn out the iStuff are guaranteed more work and everybody is happy. Amen. 'Byte into an Apple'.

How much of that came from $29.99 bumpers because Apple CSRs (customer service representatives) were told not to "appease" the angry customers with free bumpers?

Ah, such an ethical company Apple is. Oh, but let's go back to trashing a Microsoft or a Google for earning a profit, shall we?

someone forgot to buy apple stock...

Thursday is not too soon for one or more of those new products :D

MB Air or Mac Pro. But I have a feeling we have a couple of more months to wait.

secede already

And you're basing your opinion on what exactly???

Apple brand is losing its luster each passing day due to IP4 fiasco and StevJo sheer display of arrogance at so many intstances. StevJo is feeling invincibile right now, intoxicated by much success and current Apple market dominance and position. However, Ipad sales momentum is prolly flatting at this point, probably another 3-4 millions before the end of the year..then dead til next hardware update but by then Apple early adopters will be less receptive and more cynical on the day of Apple product launch. On the macro-level, US and global economies are not doing too well and many economists expect double dip recession here and Europe while Asia slows down second half of the this year, leading up to more stimulus packages and Fed monetary easing probably after the Novemeber election.

The one thing I took away was this: do "amazing new products" = "amazingly refreshed" product? Or are there entirely new things in store this year? Hmm.

Agreed. Oh and I am mostly liberal, so stop your stereotyping. The only stipulation I add to your comment is the fact that the richest Americans pay far less in taxes (% wise) than the middle class as well as the lowest in modern US history. Warren Buffet estimated his tax burden at 17.7%. That's a hell of a lot less than most people pay. The same holds true for the rest of the super wealthy. Just a thought to ponder when you develop your positions on taxes.

P.S. Don't apply generic labels to yourself like "free-market conservative American", all it does is imply LESS independence. Which is ironic since people that apply the "free-market conservative American" label to themselves tend to point out how 'independent' they are and need help from noone and don't benefit from any kind of external assistance (a fallacy).

Oh capitalism, responsible for high standards of living, amazing technology, freedom of choice, the ability for a couple of college dropouts to become anything they wanted. Such a shame ;)

I think you forgot to mention - wars for oil, cutting corners as regards the environment, safety and health all in the quest for money - oils spills in the gulf anyone? - exploitation and outsourcing native jobs in order to pay criminally low wages in underdeveloped countries, gross financial, educational and cultural inequality, ah capitalism - what would we do without you? Have a better life and a better world to live it in.

Uh...what? I'm not exactly sure how that applies at ALL to what I said.

what??

Oh capitalism... Sad to see regular people focused so hard on the profit of a single corporation (including the entire stock exchange, which is basically like betting on horse races). Also sad to see that corporation focused so hard on its own profits, neglecting quality or ideals where it doesn't make them more money.

Why are you reading this article?

I hope Steve means an iPod touch with FaceTime, a new Mac Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac. Oh, and a re-writen (code wise, under the hood, not User Interface) iTunes with 64 bit. iTunes in its current form runs slow on macs, and like crap on a PC. Not to mention, its bloated with too many features.

Or you can take the non-conspiratorial viewpoint that Apple told them not to promise anything, because they hadn't really decided what their course of action was going to be, yet?

Okay, first -- StevJo? Really?

Second, how can he be feeling invincible when every facet of the media has been focusing on the most recent Apple product? It's imperfections specifically?

Share price appreciation

Wasn't the AAPL share price bumping around $78 - $85 just last year while Steve was on leave and the recession was threatening to be the precursor of a depression?

I was very interested in buying just a little stock then but didn't have the courage to take on some debt to do it.

Oh well. Guess I'm not cut out to be an investor.

Interesting. I knew AAPL would have a record revenue quarter, but the $3.25 billion profit was way under my $4-$4.5 billion estimate. MSFT will probably come in with $4.5 billion profit on as much revenue as AAPL had, maintain their profit margin advantage.

Apple is never going to match MSFT's profit margins. That is an inherent disadvantage of being a HW maker, as opposed to a SW shop.

Are talking with some kind of knowledge that stock investors don't know, seems to me Apple stock has been doing great for the last few years, at least for me and many others! Where have you been? Please fill us in on Apples demise?:apple::apple::apple::cool::cool::cool:

A lot of those things I wouldn't blame on capitalism per se, but just on the fact that most human beings are inherently a******* when their basic needs have been met....and the rest of the time too...
