i don't like their business model...but i won't deny that i like their mac computers....at least mac pros...so i'm hoping they get their acts together and think logically.

Basically, Steve Jobs is responsible for 80% of Apple's current revenue.

Also, it's amazing how much iTunes contributes. Almost as much as iPads...

Apple made more money from Macs than iPads? Am I reading this right?

Prolly because people realize it's not all that functional. With that screen size, you get more productivity out of a Macbook variant. And with bigger screens on iPhones, iPad won't see much sales from it's current level.

Admittedly, I use my iPad for productivity, but I find the experience MUCH more pleasant to deal with a Logitech BT Keyboard attached to it.

Can Samsung make the same claim? NOPE! Maybe they should create a commercial for this too.

They make about that per year and their profits are going down...

So people said Apple was in trouble and fandroid phones were taking over? HMMMMMM DO TELL!! :p

Not surprising. Everyone is finally aware that iPads are practically toys that lack the versatility of Macs. Anything the iPad can do is already possible on the iPhone. Until they stop using a phone OS on tablets, the trend will continue.

$$$$

that is insane numbers... $183billions..

and that's for a company that basically makes phones and computers

Pretty amazing. Never thought I would see that happen.

I'm willing to bet the Apple halo effect is at play here and we are seeing the stickiness of iOS at work. Once you get any iOS device in your hand, you start investigating OSX and the ecosystem to a greater extent, which fuels Mac sales.

That's what happened to me. I got my first iPod Mini years and year ago. Then I saved up money and got an iPod Video. Loved both of them. Then I got myself a iPhone 3GS, then a 4S then a 5S and a Retina Macbook Pro while at university.

Also thanks to me myself, mum, dad and sister all use iPhones and all have their own iPad's and they are looking at getting the 5k iMac as well as new iPhone's and a new iPad.

My families personal experience with Apple literally reflects the same growth and what's more we all totally love it. Great, great products, even with the minor hiccups that everyone loves to blow out of all proportion.

More likely people are holding onto them longer and don't see the need to upgrade. Apple is adapting to that by keeping the existing models out longer. My guess is that they won't ever put OS X on the iPad, but they may boost the capabilities of iOS. Adding a file structure to iCloud Drive may be the first step in that process. Their partnership with IBM may help, as well.

I've found the iPad to be very useful with Office for iPad. It won't replace a Mac or PC entirely (the PC/Mac versions are more powerful), but it comes close. Hence the reason Microsoft went with a subscription model for Office.

That's certainly how it happened for me. Started off with iTunes and really liking it, then finding out it didn't work very well with my Archon MP3 player so I went for an iPod (60Gb U2 model), then a Mac Mini, followed by a Macbook Air some years later....

Right now I have a MacBook Pro Retina and a Mac Pro, iPhone(6 and 6+), Both iPads and two Apple TVs (living room and bedroom)... And it all just works :)

It's expensive kit, but I keep everything pristine along with all the packaging so I get 'top dollar' when I sell it on for the next models, plus the hardware genuinely saves me money and time in helping me get the job done efficiently (I freelance). The Macs literally pay for themselves in weeks.

Or just spend .001% of those billions and give better software QC.

Any predictions on Apple Pay royalties from every purchase made from an iPhone? That's going to be a big chunk of change over the next 5 years.

Are you a stockholder? If not, why do you care? As a customer you get soldered ram macs with $300 ram upgrades and 16gig starting storage with iPhones. Yet you take glee in it. As a customer, you ought to be offended rather than cheerleading like a schoolgirl.

Can Samsung make the same claim? NOPE! Maybe they should create a commercial for this too.

wow... a quarterly profit of over 8 billion.

I say increase the R&D budget and make great things.... no reason for bugs in any new iOS release / Mac OS. And my brand new iMac better not have screen issues like the previous iMac 2011.
