They clearly would have beat with that extra week.. that’s why the ONLY real comparison is in a 13 week quarter as mentioned in the earnings call.

Facts matter.
Doesn’t that just show up next quarter then? They have the same number of weeks in a year, right?

Net cash neutral over time. There it is.

That tells us a lot about Apple's plans when it comes to possibly increasing dividends or the pace of share buybacks in response to the recent tax law changes.

No. Most of Apple's fiscal years are 52 weeks, with four 13-week quarters.

Every five years or so they have a 53-week fiscal year, with three 13-week quarters and one 14-week quarter. That happened for fiscal year 2017.

Sigh. Apple mentions this every year it happens. They don’t hide anything.

No one can hide anything....I am merely highlighting that the question was put to Tim this time last year when sales were barely above prior year quarter even with an extra week.

How is this even possible?

On the iPhone X:
  • It's way too expensive at $1,000. Nobody will pay that much.
  • FaceID is useless, bring back TouchID.
  • That notch. Not only ugly but interferes with all my content and videos.
  • Glass back? I don't want a fragile phone.
On the iPhone 8:
  • Not enough of an upgrade from the iPhone 7.
  • They still kept the same basic design? Lame.
On Macs:
  • Still no Mac Mini updates? People are waiting.
  • iMac Pro? I can build a machine for 1/2 the price that's 3x as fast.
  • Still only 16GB on the MBP? I require 32GB to be productive.

So my question for all the naysayers and analysts is this. How does it feel to be wrong? Not just wrong, but utterly and spectacularly wrong?
Took the words right out of my mouth.

It’s clear the detractors have absolutely zero credibility whatsoever. They don’t know business in general, and they don’t know Apple.

It would be lovely if this rather greedy company would invest its profits into helping or indeed preventing people from becoming homeless. Every where that I look now on an evening I am seeing people in doorways. The system is not working and being honest, just hearing about Apple's greed is repulsive.
I've been an Apple customer for 23 years and I own two or three of their products but damn, they are obese, greedy in their entire business.

"Apple's services category continues to grow rapidly, and in the first fiscal quarter of 2018, Apple services, which includes iTunes, the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, Apple Pay, and AppleCare, saw revenue of $8.5 billion, up 18 percent year over year."

This is huge. Apples services are almost 18% YOY with 8.5 billion in the green. This is where the real growth is for Apple, through services with Apple Music and iCloud, etc. I don't think Apple gets recognized as much as they should in this department Over hardware sales.

The average selling price of 9xx is not close to the iPhone X models. Sure they helped boost the ASP higher but let’s account a few full retail pricing of the iPhone 6S, 7 and 8 along with the massive amounts of those models a LOT cheaper on contract from every other country that doesn’t offer apple’s upgrade program.

Let’s further account for the MUCH higher ASP in other countries due to taxes, duties and tariffs. When you factor all of this in you see grouch the horse doo doo Apple is peddling about iPhone X being their best seller holiday weekend quarter.

They had a record quarter. The majority of people whining about it have nothing at stake. Are bragging rights that important? It’s the most successful company on earth.

Average Sales Price is revenue divided by units sold. Apple does not keep the taxes, duties and tariffs they collect as they are passed on to the applicable government agency. So they would not be considered part of the ASP.

Since it seems to irritate you, why not look into it further? A rumors forum probably isn’t the best place for accurate information.
Look into what further? Apple’s guidance is all we need to know the Nikkei and WSJ rumors were garbage.

Ah. Because their quarter end isn’t the last calendar day of the month?
