And btw, if it wasn't bluetooth, then get yourself ready for some bad experiences. Optical cables are quite sensible to rugging, bending and so on. So the proposed 'clip on a belt and cable to the glasses'-use will be very prone to damaging the cables if you ask me.

And first whiner for these glasses (choose your option):

a) Damn, these batteries are so thick, it's really uncomfortable running around with the glasses.

b) MOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR battery runtime!

They need to rig it so that the eraphone is integrated to the glasses so we don't have four wires.

A few years back I invented the "entertainment bucket" it was a plain old 5 galon bucket you can buy at Home Depot except it has an LCD screen and speaker inside. You place it upside down over the user's head and then secure it with straps under the arms Parents would buy these for kids so it would keep them quiet and ocupied. I was thinking of selling these to the airlines to be used as "perks" for 12 and under passengers. But if these Apple glasses become popular it will be hard for me to sell my buckets.

Step forward...the next Jonathan Ive!

Are you SERIOUS?

Apple better not get the patent, or else I'm going to have to seriously call Apple out on this thing which has been patented previously.

Seriously fanboys, cut the crap, Apple is patenting all the **** they want, even if it's not original. Don't tell me you've never seen this before.
Sorry, which of the three patents has been done before? Did you read the article? The patents? The claims?
Bluetooth.
Not the bluetooth of today-- can't handle video bandwidth, and certainly can't handle 2x video bandwidth. Right now I think the point of those cables is be able to do all the image generation on your belt and take the bulk and weight out of the display-- if you make that link wireless, rather than optical, then you've undone all of the benefit.

Agreed, in the same way that Bluetooth earpieces just look dumb!! They may well be useful and have their place eg for use in the car, but when I see someone in a supermarket, or street, wearing one I think, "you look such an idiot, and you think you look sooo cool" :)

*Stands back and waits for the blasts from the Bluetooth defence brigade*

I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those. At some point technology ceases to be sexy and is instead nerdy. This crosses the line.

1. Apple Patent Pictures are always ugly. The hands shown are always deformed and the products shown are held as simple as possible. So don't expect this thing to look like in the patent picture.

2. How about having the battery, controls and laser in the belt device, with a fibre obtics cable leading up to the glasses? The image could then be projected sideways into your special optical glasses. You could even detach the cable and use them as your everyday glasses.

3. Everyone knows contact lenses are going to be the next wearable display system.

3d

1. Recently, Disney declared to be concentrating on 3D movies
2. Apple is developing glasses for watching (3D) movies

I think it's obvious.

Check this Ad by Joseph Kosinski entitled Apple||ISPEC.

Certainly, it is about this patent.

Well, it certaily looks cool:

Too bad iPods don't have the processing power to do this kind of 3D visuals. The Mac Pro would be closer, but still too weak. ;)

I'm sorry

Apple, quit wasting everyone's time and put a damn blue ray drive in a notebook already!

Who the hell want's to walk around with those things on, who would want to watch a video where you can't see what's happening around you? Besides using it while in bed watching porn I don't see this selling well. Notice the other ones don't sell either. Why? Because you can't see and you look like a dork.

I wouldn't want to walk with them for sure ... lol But I assume these babies can produce far higher resolution. So for me the exciting thought is a new approach to 3D. Imagine immersive games in HD and 3D without the need for red and green or polarized lenses ... this would be huge for entertainment industry! Trans-Oceanic plane trips would be less boring too.

The best thing about these goggles is that when you're walking down the street and some guy points at you and shouts, "nnnnneerrrd!" the lasers will shoot from your lenses and obliterate the fool.

This is the future.

Which of these three patents have been done before? I haven't heard of any of these ideas being PATENTED before?

So do you mean my parents ripped me off, and just gave me a plain old bucket to put on my head? Now my childhood is ruined!

Interesting. I wonder if the image could be made to be partially transparent, something like a HUD. It would be awesome to go for a walk, for example and get fresh air, exercise, and watch the news, or view educational material at the same time. Lots of possibilities.

Rich

Alright, this is just stupid.

Apple needs to focus on computers first. They need to pay more attention to the product that got them into this business in the first place.

First iron out all of the problems with your computers, then go on to other projects.

Yeah. Don't make portable music devices before you have your problems with the REAL computers worked out. Like that lawsuit against Microsoft in 1985. We are _still_ dealing with the implications of that loss!
