So...why did they take down the ad from their youtube page instead of continuing to run these ads and new ads along with the iPhone 17 lineup with the same disclaimer?
Because it made no sense to advertise a delayed feature once it was understood the timeline.
We regret to inform you, you're wrong about the upgrade reasons because I'm one of those people. Upgraded from a 14 Pro to a 16 Pro specifically for Personal Context. Literally no other feature mattered to me. Everything else on the 14 Pro was excellent for me.
Ok you’re claiming you upgraded due to Siri and no other reason?
I'm not even exaggerating; Camera control? don't use it. Action button is just for my vibrate and ring modes. USB C? I only charge via magsafe.
Obviously the case will be a nail biter down to the end. /s.

'Claiming'? Why would you use that word?

No, I'm telling you the exact reason I traded in my iPhone 14 Pro for the 16 Pro. If you're trying to insinuate that I'm a liar because you don't like or agree with my reasons for upgrading, then say that.

Sorry you took umbrage at that. I can’t verify what you’re saying I don’t know you, hence to me you’re claiming. There is no insinuation at all.

But even so i hope you are a member of the class.

easy to judge...just check the % of the wwdc where they were presenting iphone 16 and telling about AI (it was a lot) and drop the price byt that % and return moeny to the people 💁🏼
This completely ignores those of us who were either indifferent or made less likely to purchase an iPhone because of "AI" features. The value of the phone is actually increased by every on-by-default "AI" feature I have to turn off.

All good. Appreciate the well wishes but I don't live in the United States, I just wanted to illustrate the importance of Personal Context to some people's upgrade decisions.

If you care so much about AI, you should have bought a Samsung or a Google Pixel. Google is the best company in the world when it comes to AI, not Apple.

Apple are a bunch of nobodies in comparison to Google and OpenAI. And OpenAI is based on the research of Google. Without Google, OpenAi wouldnt even have existed.

I don't believe one word that people buy an iPhone for AI.

In March, Apple delayed the launch of its personalized Siri features, and soon after the company was hit with multiple class action lawsuits over the situation.

The plaintiffs said they never would have purchased an iPhone 16, or would have paid less, had they known Apple's marketing about the Siri features was false.

In the U.S., all of the complaints were consolidated into one class action lawsuit, and Apple has now responded. Specifically, Apple on Thursday filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, according to court documents reviewed by MacRumors.

Apple's lawyers said the delay of just two Siri features that will be part of the overall Apple Intelligence suite — awareness of personal context, and in-app controls — "cannot support" the "sweeping claims" made by the plaintiffs.

"Plaintiffs complain about the timing of release of two features, despite the near-two dozen Apple Intelligence features that have already been delivered," said Apple's lawyers.

Some of the Apple Intelligence features that were already released include Writing Tools, Image Playground, Genmoji, Priority Notifications, and others.

Apple's lawyers said there are numerous other issues with the complaint, as it is filed, and they said the delayed Siri features do not constitute a breach of warranty. They also said Apple was clear "from the outset" that additional Apple Intelligence features "would be delivered over time and continue to evolve."

By purchasing an iPhone 16, all of the plaintiffs have "benefitted from camera improvements, enhanced silicon and increased performance, upgraded displays, and numerous other hardware and software improvements," including more than 20 Apple Intelligence features that were already available prior to the lawsuit, the lawyers said.

In July, Apple CEO Tim Cook said his company was "making good progress" on the Siri features and aimed to release them "next year."

Apple first announced the personalized Siri features during its WWDC 2024 keynote, but in March it announced they were delayed. The promised capabilities will include better understanding of a user's personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. For example, Apple showed an iPhone user asking Siri about their mother's flight and lunch reservation plans based on info from the Mail and Messages apps.

Apple advertised the Siri features in product presentations, on its website, in a TV commercial starring actor Bella Ramsey, and elsewhere.

Apple is reportedly aiming to release the features as part of iOS 26.4, in March or April next year.

The case is Landsheft v. Apple Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

There would have been lawsuits if Apple had not rightfully delayed the feature deployment.

funny that. when there was one looming about their botched new soldering making the logic boards fail circa 2011, they wheeled out a replacement program pronto.

personally, I turned the whole AI/Siri charade off first thing when setting up, but different strokes etc.

"If you don't like it, leave!"

"If you don't upgrade for the reasons I approve, you're a liar."

Google and Samsung are not leaders when it comes to AI. Google panicked and created 'Bard' and floundered out of the gate.

You have no idea what you're talking about, go be a child somewhere else.

You have no idea what you are talking. OpenAI is not the one who created the Transformer architecture, it was Google.

OpenAI wouldn't exist without the research from Google.

All these LLM models exist because Google made the mistake to make their research public.

The updated Siri is shipping next year. Maybe.

Until then Craig Federighi and Joz will make another PR disaster excuse-making video and post it online. Everyone involved in that debacle should have been terminated immediately.

All these “AI” devices on the market serve only to absorb user data for AI rapid development. The user has access to about 5 percent of what he can really do AI.

And all the functionality will never be available to an ordinary user. Government corporations are already using artificial intelligence for faster development and modernization in many areas. And the most interesting thing is that artificial intelligence is not limited in the military sphere.

Perhaps the apple is not in a hurry on purpose, since the probability of collapse in the next couple of years is high and they don't want to be a part of it.

Ask yourself why they OpenAI hire military personnel.

Four years ago, Altman was already driving a Koenigsegg car and this was at the time when he said that OpenAI is absolutely free.

But time passed and his views changed or someone just changed his views radically.

In my opinion, the apple just doesn't want to be a part of this swamp and resists in every possible way

This will be very interesting. Waiting to see what the verdict will be. Disappointing to see the Apple Intelligence features being delayed.

I can see siri/a.i. being multi tiered , i’m convinced 8GB probably wasn’t enough ram for what apple was originally planning, and that is why this year they put 12GB into most of their range, with exception being the base model, I also suspect we get very limited updates in ios26.4 , the real change will come in ios 27 along with newer phones, hope i’m wrong but not holding my breath , apple knew this could be huge lawsuit that’s why we got a date for spring 2026 , i doubt they will fight this to the death knowing they are going to loose

Basically in my mind, Apple promised a Monet, and gave people a 5 year-old’s drawing instead, and not a child prodigy 5 year-old’s either. No offense to 5 year-olds of course. From my perspective, the only worthwhile thing Apple “demonstrated” during the iPhone 16 event was the enhanced Siri. Most of the other features, except for maybe writing tools, didn’t seem at all useful. Creating emojis or altering images in Image Playgrounds doesn’t really appeal to me however I have used them a few times and was not happy with the results. There are way better options out there for emojis like what Microsoft offers. So yes, Apple definitely deserves to be sued for false advertising because that is exactly what they touted the 16 as, being built for Apple Intelligence with enhanced Siri being the standout feature. If Apple would stop being so worried about pleasing shareholders and focused on what they’re good at, making great products, we wouldn’t have these issues. Not only that, Apple’s products have been capable of AI for years except they never called it that, they called it Machine Learning. As far as LLMs go, they’re nice but only marginally useful since they do not provide any more reliable information than searching for things on the web. That’s my perspective anyway.

Yeah Apple deserves all of this lawsuit. The Siri debacle is easily the worst in Apple's history.

Over promised, and way under delivered. They sold the phone on Siri AI, it was a big part of the whole announcement which they recorded!
