Tim Cook just sent out an all employee memo stating that employees get a 50% discount on the purchase of Watch Sport or Watch.

ah - so you work in apple head quarters and attend staff meetings, sit between her and Cook, etc...?

otherwise i dont think you have any idea what youre talking about.

What positive changes have come about as a result of her being placed in charge? Different coloured shirts are not going to do much to improve the poor shopping experience at most of the Apple stores that I have visited. It was already a hassle trying to find the right employee for the type of need that I had that visit and this change will make it more difficult.

Ultimately, a $10000 high-end fashion accessory does not fit the nature of the other products that are carried at Apple stores. When individuals spend that much money on a watch, they generally do not want to be surrounded by kids playing angry birds, in a crowded store, while being served by individuals of questionable attitudes and a few hours of product/customer service training.

... and if you're really special, a high roller, the concierge runs out back and changes into a gold lame suit, like this (I love how lame is spelt, kinda works for my joke):

So, do employees get to keep the uniform/polos as keep sakes of their time with Apple or do they have to give everything back?

I don't know about the US, but here in the UK some Apple store employees already wear black: anyone involved in business sales.

Do they also get their identities erased and simply called "The watchmen" from now on?

I hope you treat all people who work for big companies the same. McDonalds, banks, Google, car companies etc. Something tells me you're a charming person in real life.

;) Hence why those customers can go buy it in select shops outside of Apple. Keep fighting the good fight though, my disgruntled friend.

Employees are undergoing rigorous training in order to get ready to sell the Apple Watch, which is being positioned as a fashion item.

I hope this watch is about the extent to which Apple plans to delve into the fashion world.

I agree. Apple's team is great at many things; but I don't think giving fashion advice is going to be one of them.

Usually salons wear black because it shows stray hair less...

Surprised they aren't black shirts. Most of my clients are in the high-end salon hair products and almost all of them wear black. Black (dark) clothing is the typical style for high end fashion stores so I guess Apple is splitting the difference with friendly t-shirts/polos in the intimidating fashion color.

Good luck convincing a tony buyer to part with $10,000-17,000 with someone wearing this. Even better, convincing said buyer to trust tattooed and/or pierced employee with dreadlocks with your Black American Express or VISA card.

If this launch fails to generate massive interest Apple's not going to look good at all. Yet I'm sure they've already prepared a damage control plan to right the ship.

The irony is none of this matters, between Apple's masterful spin control and thousands of apologists they're capable of forcing the perception of success.

There's far too much resting on the publics perception which has nothing to do with money since Apple's financials are beyond robust.

Never a dull moment in Appleland...

Should have been a Burberry...

Or maybe at least at the stores where they will sell the gold watch..

They wear all black at their meetings where I see them, too. No hair cutting there. Black is a high-fashion retail color, especially in New York. Not sure I buy the "shows hair less" argument when I can plainly see all sorts of my cat's hair on my black pants every time I wear them. Seems like the worst color to wear around flying hair. Now, if your argument was that black clothes hide hair color stains better, then I'm with you.
