Nope, I don't want to complain. I wanted to simply point out that Apple's "one method" isn't ideal for everyone. It's all the people replying to me about other "viable" (ie, piracy) options.
Why is it so hard to grasp that I'd rather not resort to piracy ? Again, you are the ones making a big deal out of this and keeping the discussion going. My point was simple : In my situation, I have to buy it twice and pay for it twice to respect Apple's decision as far as their copyrights go.
This is not my decision, but Apple's. It is their right to copy, and it is their right to decide how that will be done. They grant you a license to download and use an installer you have paid for, not someone else's, unless they specifically allow that (something none of you guys have come up with at this time).
So again, guys, it's simple : In my situation, it's 2 purchases, 2 downloads. Why do you guys keep fretting so much ? It's not keeping me up at night, it shouldn't keep you guys up either.
Why don't I just come hit you in the face with a baseball bat. Pretty sure no one else here will care. No big deal. I don't really care if I am supposed to hit you or not, so I will just do what I want and be done with it.
Unless you use one of those for work and one for personal.
But you're not resorting to piracy, thats what people are trying to tell you. But you'd rather bitch than just get done what needs done.
That people find ways to justify piracy does not mean they are respecting Apple's copyright. No one that has replied as yet provided an Apple licensed way of not having to download and pay twice. That's because that doesn't exist.
I know all the options out there, heck, I might just use one of them in the end. But I'm not going to lie to myself and say it is a legit option. Again, stop fretting so much, it's not keeping me up at night.
Well after looking over some of the post here, I decided to put in my two cents. First of all when it comes to the App store I think it is a good idea. There are times I need or want a program and it is 2AM. There is no store open that time of night so I suffer until the next day or do not get it at all. The other reason that it is good is that you can never lose your software. A disk can be lost and then you are SOL. Some people feel it is another way for Apple to control us, however I do not look at it that way. I look at it as they want to make it easier for their customer and at the same time be able to have accurate numbers on who and how many people is using their software. You never lose anything that you buy from the App store, just re-download it.
As far as Apple being hypocrits because they sent Lion to the stores on hard drives, that is complete NONSENSE!!! Think about how many stores over the world there are, and each mac in that store has to be upgraded. Do you realize how much time and bandwidth that would take? Not to mention that there are other things that are on that drive. If you have ever been to an Apple store, then you know there are pics, videos and other thinfs on that drive. Also keep in mind that anyone who does not have internet access, can go to the store and get an upgrade there. So there is a need for them to have a hard drive.
However why complain when you can do the exact same thing! They are allowing you to make a disk which the DMG file can be put onto a Hard drive instead.
I think Lion will be a welcomed change and I am not thinking there will be too many bugs. However for everyone complaining about that, every piece of software has a bug somewhere. Apple is really good about getting on it and getting it fixed. Thing is some people here seem to be Microsoft fan boys, and let's not get me started on Vista.
People have asked for some of the things for the iOS side to come to the Mac, and Apple thought it would be a good idea as well. Things and companies change people, so get over it!!
The only problem I see with the Mac App Store is it is easier to pirate now. However I am sure that Apple took that into consideration.
Absolutely nothing. Just like your blasphemy. Also not relevant to the discussion.
"Blasphemy" is not covered in the forum rules, so I'm OK.
Did you know that "COAB" is text shorthand for "Christ On A Bicycle". It's simply an expression, see http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=christ+bicycle .
According to many others, it is ready for prime time. I'm not saying your experiences are wrong or chastising you or anything but for any major OS release, many problems simply can't be picked up in house and it requires the OS to be released to the public under many different hardware configurations and such in order for a majority of the problems to surface and be fixed.
I'm an early adopter and expect bugs, as soon as I find if the programs I need work on it I'm upgrading![]()
if you ask I'll PM you my adobe (Acrobat X pro CS 5, lightroom $1500), mac (iwork, ilife $100), mac paw (clean myMac, and Mac Hider $40), and MS (office 2011 mac, office 2007, vista, and 7 $550) username along with my computer serial you email them with my email and ask each of them whether it's ok
Just post in this thread to say: now we know Apple are going to release Lion on a USB drive, I am happy to withdraw my previous accusation of hypocrisy against them on this.
I guess we'll never know if this is what they planned all along, or if they got enough feedback from users telling them it would be hassle to be forced to download and they relented. Either way, I'm glad they're doing the USB drives.

Aye, so am I. Also kind of a vindication against all the people telling us that we were just big whiners uh ?
Not that they'll ever apologize.
I never explicitly attacked either of you
Nor was I talking about you specifically. More about the others that resorted to name calling because I didn't want to use the MAS and because I said the new MAS policy for me was worse than the Family Pack.
You didn't have to apologize for being incorrect on a prediction, no one knows what Apple will do.
