iPhone XS:
Some Unknowns: Wifi speeds (2x2 vs 4x4 MIMO), RAM.

Tech specs on Apple's site confirm Xr has 2x2 MIMO and Xs has 4x4. I have no need for OLED or 3D Touch, but I spend a lot of time in areas with weak signal coverage and 4x4 would probably help.

Tim Cook lost it way as well as Apple. It truly shows with the current prices, that the only thing he cares is about performing for the investors and charge outrageous prices rather than for users that actually purchase the Apple products. You can see all along the Apple line up with the iMac Pro, and the Macbook Pro both ridiculously expensive.

Exactly this. Even the ‘delay’ is for Wall Street (book early XS sales in September quarter, book XR sales in December).

Precisely where Steve said companies reach just before disappearing up their own butt holes.

The iPhone XR has a 720p screen versus the 8 Plus which has a 1080p screen. Does anyone else think this was done to cut cost not only on the screen but also to allow them to use 2gb ram versus the 3gb found on the 8 Plus since less pixels = less data having to be stored in ram?

Well, google's new Chrome update has extensive 3d touch support...

I think 3D touch is EXCELLENT - adding tactility to a touch experience is excellent, they just are price gating the feature.
But they are adding hapic touch as trackpads, which is almost the same, 3d touch detects different pressure which in real world means just 1 push, I dont know any app beyond some games which detect different pressures, or am I wrong?

It may or may not be indicative of where they're going. They had to create a new type of LCD display for a corner to corner screen all while making a less expensive iPhone X with very few other compromises. 3D Touch was left out on this model but it's been kept in the OLED models.

The language Phil used does say something about the future of 3D Touch though: "like we do on the iPad". They probably don't have any plans to bring 3D Touch to the iPad. I wonder if the Apple Watch Series 4 has 3D Touch. It's another all new display. If they left 3D Touch out there too, then I think we can assume that 3D Touch will be killed off the next time the OLED iPhones get a newly engineered display.

It's too bad, I think it had a lot of potential and really suffered from lack of discoverability — a solvable UI challenge.

for most people 3d touch doesn’t exist, I used it a lot when I bouht the iP 7 but with time I’ve been relegating it just to open new tab from safari icon and animated locked screen, that’s it
Some apps has the hold touch instead force touch and worked same way, android users are very happy without it. Is not a killer feature and with one hamd is very hard to hard press far from the thumb, that’s why no many people uses it.

So at the end, haptic touch aka force touch is the same as 3d touch (as who the hell can control what pressure applies with his thumb?)

The SoC is great. It’s everything else that is the problem. Inferior resolution, no 3D Touch, inferior camera. I have to wait for the entire specs to be released before I pass final judgment of course but it is underwhelming. I don’t see why most would choose the XR instead of a discounted 8 or 8 Plus or even a discounted original NIB X over the XR unless they don’t want to be seen with the “old” design.

Well over an 8+, it's smaller, lighter, and has a much bigger screen, along with a faster processor. Seems like every bit of an improvement as the X was over the 7+, but quite a bit cheaper. If it was released at the same time, I'd get this over the Max. FaceID alone is just so much better than touch ID, especially when using gloves or having wet or dirty fingers. I've come to hate touch ID on my work 7.

Agree. Tim Cook, as you said, priority is the investor not the customers who buy the products. This is very clear to anyone.
And don't forget, as Apple has, the mac mini with 4 year old specs selling at new prices.

Why would a phone that is supposed to be the inferior version get all the colors while the XS only has gold? You pay the highest price for the XS but cannot choose from the same colors? Totally wack.

Liquid Retina ??

The letter "R" comes before "S"? *shrugs*

So, the iPhone XR has a bigger bezel around than the XS or it's just the same as XS?

The biggest letdown from this year's event i think is the lack of USB-c cable and a faster charger on such expensive smartphones.

Regarding the low res screen, i think it's not a big deal, as it wasn't a big deal on the iPhone 8, which sincerely, hasn't bothered me on daily usage at all. Actually i have forgotten that it is a 720p display.

I beg you pardon, but it always has been the tenfold, some fellow Europeans correct me if I’m wrong?

The XR (R- idiculous):

What is the percentage increase from what you think is reasonable? I mean, prices of all flagship phones rose across the world from all manufacturers recently and it's to the tune of 5-10%.

Pro Motion won't stop it looking like a 720p screen. After you stop focusing on one aspect of the display and realize it's the same resolution as phones from 2010.

You do realize that 1280x720 is nowhere near 1792x828, right? I mean, you want to keep throwing around these numbers at least learn what they really are. And no, there were not 720p phones in 2010...it seems you don't really understand the difference between PPI and resolution anyway.

All I know is it’s the same sharpness as my 6S which is totally fine for my eyesight, so the XR is a no brainer for me :)
