Smart HDR is referring to Camera. "HDR" was display.
Also, not always thicker.

Oh right, I got mixed up there. Thank you for the clarification. Same as the consumer level iPad actually, which makes sense.

The person I replied to said "PPI is what tells the story" then proceeded to say 330 PPI is respectable. Hence, my comment that the iPhone 4 had 326 PPI.
No matter how you want to twist it, a 720p screen is still a 720p screen.

And yet that also has nothing to do with "technology". These are specs, there's far more to all of it. Apple isn't using old screens, in fact they're using quite modern and quite nice screens.

I gotta say this might be the one to buy. 5.8 inch on the x is too small, 6.5 on the max is too big, plus the price is right. That product red looks...

Apple can use all their fancy terminology "liquid retina", it still is 720p.

WRONG! That's an insult to anyone who likes the smaller screens. The 8 is a 10 year old design. It was dated when it was launched last year. Plus why buy an expensive 'old' phone? I love smaller screens but as an educated guy, why would a buy an old design and model just for that?

A 10 year old design? Please.

Who cares for starting at 749, this phone is useless with 64gb. They only offer this for marketing reasons.

With proper memory installed, this „low cost“ phone is a thousand bucks. Have they finally totally lost their mind ?

With 128GB it will be $799 and with 256GB it will be $899. Not as good as I would have liked but not out of the ballpark either.

That's VAT for you.

Yes, and? Are they lying about the resolution or something here? Why does it bother you that Apple gives names to their features? It's funny that everyone here is ignoring why it's called liquid....it has something that none of its competitors do, maybe you'll figure out what that is after you stop focusing on one aspect of the display. It's also something people have been asking for since the last iPad Pro came along.

I beg you pardon, but it always has been the tenfold, some fellow Europeans correct me if I’m wrong?

The XR (R- idiculous):

Oh yeah I'm deffo gonna get one, just can't decide between the blue and the coral :)
It's that or the red for me. Decisions, decisions. Though, since I'm on Cricket and have to wait to buy my phone unlocked, chances are good I'll have to wait till January to upgrade lol

Why is the Xr the only iPhone in Apple's lineup without 3D Touch?

Please answer Mr. Cook!

Do you not care about consistency or is it just another marketing (market segmentation) tactic?

Pro Motion won't stop it looking like a 720p screen. After you stop focusing on one aspect of the display and realize it's the same resolution as phones from 2010.

I appreciate all the negativity, means it will be easier for me to get my hands on one come October 19 ‍♂️

I admit I was hoping for something in the $800-900CAD range but it's been a long four years with my 6 Plus making this a major upgrade (y'all act like you weren't all using LCD screens a year ago)

64 >128 > 256

Am I dreaming? How long has it been since we’ve seen that?!

If you're refering to Pro Motion I must disappoint you. The new iPhones only have 120hz Touch Sampling Rate.
So the touch input/response might be better, but this doesn't make the screen look more fluid.
The screen itself has 60hz refresh rate.

Has all the high end components of the Xs series (only single camera of course and a battery sipping LDC)
Don’t forget high resolution OLED display is also missing and a it has cheap ass inferior LCD display instead.
Big deal.

"Haptic Touch" is a really stupid name if you think about it. It's exactly like "Visual Sight", i.e completely redundant
