This just proves the notch is a design compromise on the iPhone, rather than something to be “embraced”. They didn’t put one in the iPad because they didn’t have to.
Of course. When tech evolves you’ll bet that there will be notchless phones. It’s not a design element.

I'm curious if Apple will at some point allow wireless charging between ipad and iphone. Considering the pencil can do it based on magnets. Such tech could technically work on the phone. Obviously not in a years time, thats a bigger vs smaller battery. But that is one of the things that has me waiting on preordering.. I'll get a used device in a few months for a little cheaper.

Like placing your iPhone on the back of an iPad?? I guess it could work that way but isn’t that basically what USB C is doing? Either way happy they included another charging alternative

I’m really interested in the 12.9” for work, however I also like to use my iPad in the evenings for streaming video in bed. I hope that it isn’t unwieldy when using it laying down like the previous 12.9 was said to be. What do you guys think?

Might be kinda big for laying in bed. However, it is a full inch shorter than the previous 12.9”. The new one is basically the size of a 8 1/2” x 11” note pad. So you can easily test it out at home to see if the size is too big or not.

So am going to pre order this thing and I have a question..is it better to wait til BF in hopes that the price drops(Which I doubt since this thing just came out) or just pre order it now..I was hoping it would be available in rose gold it usually is not sure what happened

Okay, take my money!! Finally enough reason to dump my Air 2. Price wise it all depends on what fits your specific needs but, 11” + 256Gb is perfect for me! Only thing I’m worried about is how great next year’s model will be in comparison and if i’ll be slapping myself for jumping on the wagon so quickly :p

Yeah but then each year you will be waiting and waiting - just go for it

I’m planning on using the 12.9 as a Laptop Replacement, and I fully expect by iOS 13 Apple will get it there.

But I’m still waiting to order.

Best Buy/Another store will likely have a deal on these late November or early December before the holidays. Logitech will likely have a better keyboard accessory like last gen than the Apple Keyboard.

I’m also waiting on Geekbench. I think this thing is going to screammm with performance and the nerd in me literally jumped up when they announced the A12X was 4x4 cores and not 3x5 like previously thought. But I want to see how much RAM this thing has. I’m hoping 6GB minimum, but hoping Apple excites me again and throws 8GB in there with all this Photoshop/AR talk.

Ups and downs. Wasn't that interested in getting a new iPad Pro as I love my 10.5. However became excited with many of the changes and upgrades. But then the $150 64gb to 256gb and the removal of the headphone jack turned me off.

I’m cool with the no headphone jack. But will wait till the update the AirPods to buy wireless ones.

I doubt it. For it to work the phone would have to sit on the ipad screen (or the ipad would need a glass back and magnets to hold the phone on like a backpack). It would also be slow and really awkward. The pencil has a small battery and thus small coil, so it can fit on the edge.

Really gutted that they put USB-C on this and not the iPhone XS/XR. Makes no sense to me releasing them so close together, this was the perfect opportunity for Apple to migrate everything to USB-C together.

I kinda agree. But I think it was because they’re treating the new iPads as laptop replacements, so it makes sense to do them first. No reason to rush it for the iPhones.

Because 64gb is really pro-level.

Entry-level should have at least been 128gb. But instead I'll have to go with 256gb to realistically use it for RAW photo editing. *sighs* I'll make the jump, just not happy about it.

That's easy.. OLED. But in all seriousness, it's not exactly bezeless. That is just a gimmick everyone says now. It's as bezeless as you can get at the time though, which just makes sense to say bezeless. I don't really fault them for that in the least.

Other note.. Curious to see what the secondary market will be on these products come March. Couple hundred off a used one would be in the ballpark for me. Nice stuff, just don't see the price matching the usability right now.
I prefer LCD, and so do many others with PWM. I am also not a fan of the IR that comes with OLED. The technology is not mature enough.

I'll be getting the 12.9" for school next year with the new Pencil. My iPad Pro is my most-used device. People are complaining about the price, but it's literally a computer. It *has* replaced my MacBook. I was thinking about getting a new MacBook Pro, but I'll make do with my MacBook. That saves me money for the new (XS) Max. :)

How will the pencil charge when the iPad is in a case?

If I'm spending at least £888 on a tablet... I'm going to want a protective case for it.

The addition of USB-C and the lack of a mouse pointer really bums me out. Imagine being able to hook this thing to an external monitor and actually use it.

They go on and on about how wickedly, insanely fast these devices are, so much faster than everything else, and then saddle them with arbitrary filesystem, multitasking, and input limitations that make doing even the simplest of tasks a chore (or just downright impossible).

Like, I get it. They're iPads, not Macs. But stop telling me this thing is better and faster while making damned sure it can't actually replace the things it's allegedly better and faster than.
