They didn’t even drop the price of the 10.5

What is now previous generation... wow! I am rendered nearly speechless

It’s painful being an apple fan / user with the direction things are headed

Must be a prince to buy this stuff without remorse

Was there any mention of water resistance in the keynote? I didn’t see it mentioned in the story or on Apple.com. I was hoping that it would have some degree of water resistance for use by the pool.

No headphone jack = no sale

The same shi.tty 10 hour battery life from a decade ago

NO OLED

Ridiculous prices

Indeed the 10.5 is my last iPad. F. you, Apple

Welcome to the minority. Go live your life refusing to move on like the rest of us. I'm sure you'll be happy and I'm sure Apple will learn the error of their ways.

Am I the only one hoping someone is smart enough to screen shot the new wallpapers and airdrop them to themselves.. if you already have them please send the link. :D

USB-C to HDMI cable, this should work - I would think?

The poster wasn't asking HOW to hook an external display to the iPad, they were asking what the point would be.

As in, how is it useful? You have no pointer, so you have no way to interact with anything on the external screen, so what's it good for, other than mirroring, which AirPlay already does?

Except for phones, I'm leaving Apple. Closed architecture, high prices, and slow to innovate.
While I doubt I'll buy following, look at the price, look at the attempt to innovate. Apple lost that long ago.

Currently I'm working from ThinkPad P50 with 64GB RAM (which cost me like $300) which I paid far less than the closest Apple offering. The value from Apple just isn't there anymore.

That's what I've been wondering. I mean, without a pointer it's just AirPlay, but wired. Useless (to me).

Maybe there is "quick switching"? Where you display two different things and you are able to quickly switch what is displayed on your iPad and what is displayed on your external monitor? Agree with you though, seems limited.

I am torn between the iPad 12.9 vs Surface Book 2 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga (3rd gen)

even though tim mentioned the ipad mini in the beginning still no update in the small form factor.
its so sad that only bigger-bigger-bigger is the apple thing these days... :(

Ming said the new mini is coming, but probably not this year. Most likely it will be updated in March 2019 with the regular 9.7” iPad. My question is, will they both get thinner bezels and face I’d as well? Ability to use the new Apple Pencil? Probably not. But let the rumors begin!

It appears so. But there is on a MacBook Air!

There’s gonna be a lot of wires hanging out of that Pro device to connect the power, USB-C to Lightning dongles, and headphone dongles for professional music and film production.

Ironic their musical performer referenced how Apple produces products for the way they produce music, which almost certainly does not involve Bluetooth headphones...
Beautiful thing is now we might be able to use our regular studio grade audio I/Os for monitors and headsets!

Ummm, still not inhibited by a bloated desktop OS - BEAST - unchained. Yes please

I literally cannot deal with zip files on iOS without some ridiculous process. I still can’t run multiple apps or instances easily. iOS just can’t do thing that Mac os can. But then again I cant touch or draw on the Mac screen. I badly wanted to get this Pro but the limitations and price point continue to push me to a MacBook Pro. Even the new air: only $100 less than a 13 Pro that has better hardware.

This just proves the notch is a design compromise on the iPhone, rather than something to be “embraced”. They didn’t put one in the iPad because they didn’t have to.

Didn't we all know that already? No one has ever claimed that the iPhone would have a notch but for the necessity of housing certain electronics there. It was simply the best solution on the iPhone at this moment in time, in light of current technological limitations -- Apple has never claimed otherwise.

Actually, this was on my list of hopes as well. I travel a lot. And even tho I protect my iPad when I do, when backpacking thru Europe or south east Asia and getting caught in a heavy downpour, it sure would be nice to have that extra protection & peace of mind. With no headphone jack, perhaps the new ones do have improved water protection. Who knows. Will keep my eyes & ears open for any news.

Working on a 3GB PSD file, then throwing into AR in front of 1000's, Worldwide audience on the web - HOPING the app won't crash. I'd be a nervous mess also. She did well.
They should have just done like the basketball game and pretended it was real when it was actually just a video

My 10.5 pro 512 LTE lives for another year, especially as it was replaced under AC+ a month or so ago. I’ll wait for OLED.
