That guy is missing so many points and absolutely failing at so many too... Computer quality doesn't work as a math equation. My 13'' MBP with C2D runs as fast, not to say faster than another laptop with a core i5. Why? OS X. It rules.
Apple spares money on processors and invests in amazing batteries, to mention one aspect.
No, MBP's don't have the best resolution, but the quality of the LCD. Ohh, the quality. It is incomparable. That's a fact.

The guy on that website also refers to graphics. Tell me, are Apple computers made for gamers? No. Graphic Designers? Yes, but that's like 5 percent of Apple's Market share, or 1 percent of total market share. Apple does things for the majority of their marketshare. That majority doesn't need Faster graphics than this. The only good thing better graphics would be good for would be showing off. If you need better graphics, you've got 9 times more computers from other companies. Is it that hard to shut up and just get what you need?

This repetitive whining about specs is tiresome and frankly, not flattering to your intellect. If you want certain specs over everything Apple offers in a laptop, then you'll have to make do with Windows - It's as simple as that....I hope you're happy with 2 hours battery life, poor screen quality, heat issues, plastic chassis bottom that will doubtless start rattling and crack over time, poor customer support, long repair times, low resale value, bloatware, crapware, half your system resources dedicated to scanning for viruses and other "threats", Windows Genuine Advantage checks, Windows updates that take hours, system rollbacks points that eat more and more of your hard drive space and a system that gradually slows down because of registry goop.
Nothing more needs to be said.

For most people, it's the user experience that is more important than the specs. I had two Sony laptops, both ultra portables. TR1MP which lasted three years before it gave up the ghost and I was staring at the blue screen of death. When I went to the Sony store to buy my new laptop, the reaction of the salesman was basically it lasted three years, what do you expect? A lot more considering the money I had paid. I then moved onto a TZ11. Again it was an ultraportable. To hold and carry it was great, a very sleek and shiny machine. Very pretty. To use however, it was very slow because it did not have enough RAM to run Vista so it was sluggish and slow to load things like elements, let alone photoshop. I now have a 13" MBP 2.53 Ghz. I use photoshop CS4 for photo editing. It's fast to load and fast to use. It does what I need and is easy to use. I didn't go for the base model and I am very happy with what I got.

Apple sell a lot of stuff to people like me. We do not need the highest specification out there. We need a package that works seamlessly. I also want something that is built well and that in three years has not died. That is another reason for paying the so called "apple tax". Yes they restrict my choice but in exchange I get something that works. It's a no brainer.

Ok, all the crap in this thread I don't know, but that VIAO Z seems awesome. Sucks it only comes in 13".

A BSOD doesn't mean the laptop died necessarily. In all likelihood it was a software issue. The hardware component that can cause this issue is memory.

So you bought a laptop that did not meet the minimum requirements for the job and are comparing it to a laptop that does. Where's the logic in this?

Agreed. I agree with his last statement, that for many people it's about the "total package;" however, you can't really compare an ultraportable Sony to a Macbook Pro. They're in completely different categories.

I did a lot of research prior to ordering a new 15" macbook pro. I have both. For my research papers and a little but of photo editing, I feel like the macbook will be more than sufficient. If I wanted to watch a blu ray, I'd pop one in my PS3 and watch it on my tv or watch it on my custom tower PC that has a blu ray drive. I paid an arm and a leg for the macbook, but ever since I went mac, for laptop I've never looked back. Like others have state, it comes down to personal preference and what your needs are..

Apple doesn't force people to buy its products so why do we continue to argue about the pros/cons of a mbp. You like it, get it. You don't, don't get it.

..... like the Sony Vaio Z in terms of specs, performance or innovation.

It doesn't take much innovation to slap together a bunch of parts.

We know you are trying to sell us your Vaio Z, unfortunately, its a piece of crap. :p
