wonderful - SE needs to live - I feared they may kill it. I still believe it is the best form factor - just can't get used to the 6/7 form factors. I know that's just me and that resistance to change but it's what it is!

I think it did sell really well, i can see them updating the SE it just won't be their flagship. What's got me tho is the rumour about adding a new colour to the 7 and 7 Plus (red) they have not done that at a March event before, I'm wondering if it's because they don't want to take the attention away from the big iPhone 8 reveal in September.

Very happy about the 128GB SE rumour. I would have definitely bought that version if it had existed when I got my 64GB SE. It could also mean the existing SE is supported for longer, assuming no other technical changes.

I am not enamoured by the rumours of the iPhone 8 so I really hope they keep the SE, or further improved versions in the same form factor, in their product line-up.

Apple will host a March event to introduce a new iPad Pro lineup and other products, according to Japanese website Mac Otakara.

In terms of the iPad Pro lineup, the report claims Apple will announce new 7.9-inch, 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch models. The 10.5-inch model may not ship until May, while the other sizes are said to ship in March.

If the report is accurate, it would suggest Apple plans to refresh the iPad mini 4 with a new 7.9-inch iPad Pro model, update its existing 9.7-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models, and introduce an all-new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, which is widely rumored to feature an edge-to-edge display without a Home button.

Mac Otakara previously said the 10.9-inch iPad Pro--it now says 10.5-inch--will have the same overall footprint as the current 9.7-inch iPad Pro thanks to its edge-to-edge design. The earlier report said the top bezel will remain in order to provide space for the front-facing FaceTime camera, but it will likely be slimmer.

The blog also previously said the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will feature a 12-megapixel rear camera and True Tone display like the current 9.7-inch model, using advanced four-channel ambient light sensors to automatically adapt the color and intensity of the display to match the light in the surrounding environment.

Meanwhile, it said the 7.9-inch iPad Pro will feature a Smart Connector, True Tone display, four speakers, and a 12-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera with True Tone flash, as Apple works to standardize features across its tablet lineup. All new iPad Pro models will reportedly gain quad microphones as well.

Three months ago, Barclays analysts predicted Apple will release a trio of new iPad Pro models in March, including 9.7-inch, 12.9-inch, and edge-to-edge 10.9-inch models, but not a 7.9-inch iPad Pro. Instead, their research note said Apple will continue to produce and sell the iPad mini 4, released in September 2015.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has likewise said Apple is planning a new 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro lineup for 2017. He did not mention a 7.9-inch model. He said the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models are likely to feature a faster Apple A10X processor, while the "low-cost" 9.7-inch model will sport an A9X chip.

DigiTimes expects a 10.5-inch iPad Pro as well, making that four separate sources reporting similar. The math checks out too: the width of a 10.5-inch iPad Pro would match the height of the iPad mini screen, while it would have the same resolution as the 12.9-inch model and the same pixel density as the iPad mini.

Today's report also claims Apple may add a 128GB storage option for the iPhone SE, alongside the smartphone's existing 16GB and 64GB capacities, and add a new red color--(PRODUCT)RED?--option for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The blog previously said the red color would be for the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.

The report also calls for new Apple Watch bands at the event in line with last year's Spring refresh. Apple introduced the iPhone SE, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and new Apple Watch bands at its March 2016 event last year.

Mac Otakara has a good but not perfect track record in terms of Apple rumors.

Because the iPad is still not yet at a stage where I can get 100% of my work done on it. My 9.7' iPad pro is the perfect teacher's companion in the classroom, and it works well enough that I am willing to do 80% of my work on it, and turn to my Mac for the remaining 20%.

So on the face of it, it appears you are getting the worst of the deal having to compromise and work around the fact you can't do everything on one device.
I'm all for you buying as much Apple equipment as you can possibly afford.. Maybe more. But don't feel the need to spout the Apple, "toaster/refrigerator" BS.

I don't see a problem with owning more than 1 device. There are people who simply don't like the experience of a computer with touch or a hybrid tablet that has a full desktop OS on it. Everyone's experience is different and it sometimes comes down to personal preference, just like the good old Windows VS Mac OS opinion.

If your anything like my friend who tried a Surface for work (after getting a discount through the education system) she stopped using it and went back to a laptop for in the office and an iPad for in the classroom. Personally i don't buy into the laptop/tablet hybrid that can do everything.

Yeah, and such people seem to feel it's fine to say that anyone using a hybrid device is wrong because.. [ insert daft reasons in a later post ].
I don't see a problem with anyone owning whatever they want. You buy what works for you. It's annoying to have to correct people that have literally walked into a MS store, prodded a surface tablet for 20 seconds and use that as absolute proof that it's useless just to reinforce the party line and divert criticism of Apple.

I never said anyone is wrong for using it, I've always said personal opinions and experiences that are either mine or close friends. Of course people are entitled to use whatever devices they like, i personally like Apple products, not all my friends do in fact some of them own Samsung phones and devices, but as i've stated i feel that a hybrid device is a bad experience no matter who makes it, even if Apple did the same and made a iPad hybrid or a touchscreen Mac i would be just as critical.

Edit: as for walking into a Microsoft Store, i've never been in one, i've spoken from either personal experience of trying one out and or from close friends who have owned them, as i've stated in my posts.

This is where I have to question your reply. Oh an by the by I was not addressing you directly in my posts.

You do not know if you'd be critical of an Apple hybrid device because you have no idea what they would have created.
Personally I'd love to see what the creative minds at Apple could have come up with.

Instead we get a smaller, thinner, larger, COLOURS! Call it Pro and slap another $400 on the price tag.

What i meant by that was if they did something similar to the Surface, i was highlighting that just because it's Microsoft who make the Surface Pro that isn't the reason why I'm not a fan of all hybrid devices.

Maybe you are right, i should probably rephrase it, I'm not a fan of the current hybrid devices maybe at some point in the future i could be convinced, as unlikely as i think this is i can't rule it out 100% (after all we just don't know what the future holds).

Are you referring to the iPad Pro? yes it is expensive that i can agree with you on, i brought the 12.9" version when it became available, and yes it is in the price range of some laptops and maybe even some hybrid devices? (not 100% what they cost). But i do have to admit that i like my iPad, i think they are great devices.

For god's sake, please don't put a camera bump on a tablet, again. Nobody ******* cares about smartphone level camera quality on an iPad when it'll give it a bump.

At this point it's not the iPad hardware that's lacking, it's the software. Until Apple Develops a new and improved iPad specific build of iOS the iPad will be just as stagnant as it is right now...

i think everyone wants to see innovation in new SOFTWARE for the iPad not just a faster chip. An OS built for 2007 smartphone to compete again Palm and Nokia is not going to make it in on the PRO tablet which supposedly replaces your PC.

until they brick my iPad Air 128GB, there's zero reason to spend another $1,000 to get one. There's but so much you can do to make the iPad exciting again. In this instance Apple is a "victim" of it's own success.

May not ship until May? In Apple terms this means May + 3 months delay.

Other than the recently, apple is good about shipping on time, they just never have enough stock. So it'd be more accurate to say May + 5 Months out of stock.

No, I'm very happy that Apple focuses mostly on iOS devices.

I also don't care if Apple never releases a MBP with 32 GB RAM. I'm not interested personally, and Apple has been moving away from catering to high end Mac users for years now.

The Mac is the legacy platform now. It is the past. New interesting apps and updates are rarely pushed out on the Mac anymore. All the interesting stuff is happening on iOS. And the future is iOS.

Let's hope not because the level of apps you get on iOS is horrible. Office is a joke for example. These are playtime apps but nothing I'd do any serious work on. Some may rise to the level of being complimentary and can be useful in some ways at work.

This isn't any future I want. The sooner Apple realizes the Mac is the heart of their business, the better off we'll be. They failed big time under Cook to make a big push into the PC market by leveraging iphone, making some decent consumer options, and crap marketing.

That 80% stuff never works for me. It's like buying a car that works 80% of the time. I wouldn't want it.

My Mac or pc does 100% of my work for me. iphone just compliments it. The ipad stays home and is just a drawing device for me, doc viewer, or play a few games on. Often it goes to the kiddos when I'm not using it. I don't even like browsing on the ipad due to the scroll blur and the fact it's simply a much worse experience than using an imac or pc.

More power to those who can use an ipad for serious work. I'm sure there are niche cases of that especially in teaching. But there's better tools to use imo even in that regard.

I see it more like buying both a car and a bicycle. There will be times when a bicycle might more convenient and economical to use than a car, and vice versa, and I have the luxury of using whichever vehicle best suits my needs at that particular time.

I am addicted to using my iPad in the classroom. The freedom of being able to walk around the classroom and monitoring my students while annotating on documents with the Apple Pencil and mirroring it to the whiteboard via the Apple TV is simply too sublime to give up. Or I can use the camera to quickly scan my students' work, get feedback via Plickers (something I am trying out) or slot it into an iPad holder and get a makeshift visualiser. The possibilities are endless.

This year, I teach in a second classroom where I have not been able to get the projector working with my Apple TV and being tethered to the front of the class by the VGA cable is pretty irritating at times.

I could teach with a laptop in the classroom, but the experience would be worse in most scenarios.

Perhaps, but until that day comes (for me), it's the iPad for me all the way.
