Cowards, won't take a stand for free speech. As the most influential tech company, Apple could have shown that it is standing up for one of the most fundamental values of the United States. I applaud Google for doing so.
I am constantly amazed at how nasty Applefan posters here are towards just about any other company. What does this kind of religious arrogance say about the poor saps who somehow equate at least part of their own self worth with their adoration of anything Apple?
Humans, you are very strange.
Hence why you will NEVER see world peace, with the ideology displayed in this forum, the idea of not taking the mickey out of a disjointed country in an effort to establish peace goes way over the heads of many posters here it seems.
Freedom of speech is important, but so is respecting others and their beliefs. Alas I think some on here would happily annihilate North Korea of the face of the Earth and not bat an eyelid.
Merry Christmas.
Source: UN Report. It describes a brutal and inhuman regime in the camps, with systematic torture, executions, rape and "the denial of reproductive rights enforced through punishment, forced abortion and infanticide". In such ways, it concludes, hundreds of thousands of people are believed to have died in the camps over the decades.
Just watched it on my Chromecast. Fortunately, Google leadership did not display the same cowardice that characterized Apple's actions, and made it easily available for everyone to view. I did my best to reward Google's courage by buying it 3 times, one for myself and 2 as gifts to others. Merry Christmas!
The movie was fine. Hilarious at times (for those of us who aren't uptight), just goofy at others. At no point was it anything more than an unrealistic goofy comedy. LOL at the North Koreans for flipping out about this. And LOL at all of the cowardly Americans (including, but not limited to Apple leadership) for making this movie an example of how to surrender to terrorism.

Ditto. I'd rather be given a choice to watch or not watch rather than not given a choice at all. Movie pokes fun at both US and North Korea so I don't see how any one side can be offended.
Apple's loss - I watched it on YouTube and Google had my money. Quite unimpressed with Apple over the last few weeks with this and their subpar response following Panorama's investigation into their supply chain. The funny thing is, they could have come out looking really good on both issues - strange decision making!
Interesting. I just downloaded it via bit torrent.
I rented it through Google because I am not a thief like some people.
Right, but you're missing the point. First of all, if you truly think this whole thing is real then I have a unicorn to sell you below market price. It's no secret that Sony is having major financial issues and this was nothing but hype created by them to bring them attention again. If you truly think north Koreans care about some comedy movie enough to make terrorist threats then you wrote the book on gullible.
If any of it was true (and I'm only humoring you for argument's sake) then it just shows Sony had no ballz to fight to get this movie in major theaters despite any "threats".
How interesting on Christmas Day that the Playstation network happens to be down. Can't play any games online.....however Sony claims they are doing "maintenance". Really Sony, maintenance of your online services on Christmas day when many people got games and the PS4 for Christmas? Let me guess, they will say they got hacked....again.![]()
This is a weak conspiracy theory. None of the events leading up to the hack remotely support your assertions. While skepticism about the actual culprits of the hack may have some remote plausibility, the rest just seems like you're trying to run to Apple's defense.
I laugh at people who think the whole hacking incident was a ploy to promote the movie.
- Other movies were released online before they were released. Annie being the biggest named movie
- Social Security numbers of employees were released online.
- And of course everyone knows that making the CEO of a large corporation look like a petty racist is good for business.
Sorry guys, but your conspiracy theories only hold up if you don't think about them, nor do any research either.
Furthermore, I doubt Apple was scared to stream The Interview as they will no doubt offer it for sale in the future. More likely Sony offered Apple the opportunity to stream the movie under the agreement that they would get a large amount of the revenue that the movie would generate. I however, envision Apple telling Sony to screw off because they are the ones who demand large sums of revenue no one else...
This isn't a prepared app that is being uploaded by a developer. It's a feature length film. There are a lot of things that have to be prepared in order to prep a film for distribution on iTunes, I am sure. They have to encode the film for their system, prep FairPlay, consider multiple resolutions, etc.
And you have proof otherwise right??? Yeah, I thought so. :roll eyes:
Me "Running to Apple's Defense" is certainly not worse than the people here throwing punches at Apple while sitting on their high horses. :roll eyes: The bigger picture is the movie theaters blocking the movie from being shown......but of course that's too much fact for you to handle since it's much bigger than just Apple rejecting the movie. Herp.

Talk about a conspiracy theory that's a big fail.

Not a single person's choices were taken away just because Apple chose not to host The Interview. :roll eyes:. As I said, much of the Macrumors members here use this place for nothing more than an punching Apple punching bag.
Apple deserves to be a punching bag in this case. Sorry if you feel that we need to check our objectivity at the door in order to make you happy.

What happens if Apple releases The Interview at a later time? Will that have been probably part of their plan this whole time or are they simply succumbing to pressure? We won't have any evidence but I'm sure news sources can speculate thanks to individuals "briefed on the matter".
Er...it's offline - http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-30411782
I just love how YOU and few others make this so personal. Typical when you have no real argument. I never make things personal against people directly. Apple has every right to do with they want. If you don't like it that's your problem but the point is the major motion picture movie theaters rejected the movie and that's much bigger problem than Apple doing so. Looks to be that Sony didn't fight very hard to get the movie theaters to change their mind. That's a cop out and cowardly. And if you feel the need to go on and ignore that in order stick it to Apple then you're just part of the bunch that stomps their feet and has a personal axe to grind. High horse at the finest.
You're the one postulating the absurd. Hence, you should post the evidence backing up your claim.
There are certainly some running to pile it on apple. Apple has the right to host or not host any movie they wish. You seem to be on a crusade to defend their honor and getting emotional about it. Is there something personal in the matter that is troubling to you?
Why would I be expressing my complaints about cowardly movie theater executives on this board?
"At a later time", the importance of taking a stand regarding our freedoms decreases considerably. That's the easy way out. Cowardly, if you will.
The time to be courageous is now.
