I’m a shareholder, so I own some of the company and I like to set the record straight when people act like children.

Apple is the best company in the world. Hate all you want.
Please define "best".

I beg to differ, wildlife photography is done on CF -> XQD/Cfast. A SD card can't empty out the buffer fast enough and I have yet to see a wedding photographer use SD since there camera's are predominantly full frame and therefor don't have a SD slot. Still the argument is that the MBP is not a pro laptop because is missed a SD slot which is predominantly a consumer standard. If its missing a pro slot it would be XQD or CFast just now so you can get right to your footage from your 6k Blackmagic or your images from your 1Dx/D5
Canon has a number of full frame cameras (1Ds Mark III, 5D Mark IV to name two) that include an SD card slot.

Asked this on another thread already but: when can we expect to see a fix for mojave? I upgraded my i9 onto developer beta 4 earlier this week and have not seen the bug fix from Apple on this machine. Anyone else with the same “problem”?

what testing?

Apple no longer does proper testing. If it did a huge amount of issues (heyboard, melting screen glue, overheating, throttling, sparking ports, ...) wouldn't never make it to production.
[doublepost=1532453323][/doublepost]

At which point you deny it until there's a class action lawsuit.

What a nonsensical claim. You obviously didn't read the article where it stated Apple contacted the original poster immediately after the video, replicated his workflow, and then successfully replicated the bug. Everyone trying to whip up everything into a conspiracy theory is getting exhausting.
[doublepost=1532523473][/doublepost]
All it was needed in order to realise the problem was a render in any of the Premiere, FCPX, C4D etc. Nothing exceptionally specific to some non-common procedure that was finally revealed due to wide public usage.

It's simply lack of a proper QC. But, then again, who is really surprised by that lately ?

You have no idea if that's correct or not. It could involve all kinds of settings unique to the software. I had zero throttling with one of our test machines using Modo or Final Cut, so obviously it's not "every software".

How did they not notice this in testing?

Because most probably they executed the tests in a controlled temperature room that offered enough of a gradient and did NOT offer the opportunity for the bug to manifest itself.

Blame the AC in the new building for this.

I could say "every software that stretches all the 6 cores" but that would be too obvious since that's what we are talking about, wouldn't it ?

Many videos proved that any rendering software trying to use all the cores at once (as they ought to) caused the extreme throttling. It wouldn't make sense otherwise, anyway. Throttling does not choose between 'good' and 'bad' software.

It was demoed with FCPX, Premiere, C4D etc. It did not happen with Geekbench as it was only pushing CPU cores for a few moments. If only apple used only one of these applications before release the machines... but that would require a functional QC procedure.

it has nothing to do with software. DAVE2D repeated the test and got better times than in the freezer.

I don't "blindly" pledge allegiance to anything, anyone or any company. Stop pretending to know someone based on their comments on an online forum. What's crazy is that you put all this energy into pushing your particular stance or agenda. Whatever that is, I don't care. I am fully aware of how Geekbench results work. I was merely stating I am pleased with the performance of this machine. Unlike you, I don't have a motive other than supporting a company that I believe in.

What motive did I have? Did I say go out and purchase those products? No. All I said is that you might be pleasantly surprised if you venture out of the Apple ecosystem. Things have changed. They aren't like they were 22 years ago - or even 2 years ago.

You claim I pretended to know you, yet all I did was use your exact words and ask why you felt there lacks competition. Also you did the exact same thing - hey look, we are long lost brothers... You completely ignored that portion of the comment and instead made it personal. Nice job.

I own Apple products - including a 2018 MBP in which this topic was all about, a 2013 MBP, many Apple TVs, and an iPad. The wife still uses an iPhone as I had in the past. In many cases they are the best products for people - but there are instances that is not the case.

I don't think it is all that crazy to ask someone to check out other products before throwing out a blanket statement saying there is no competition. Also I mentioned that competition would push Apple further to hopefully be forced into innovation and better products, so we should all want competition to exist (but again, you ignored that). Simple as that. Take it as you wish. I wasn't looking for a confrontation. I was genuinely interested in where you believe the lack of competition exists. I was crazy enough to believe we could've had a civil discussion about it.

The funny thing is, if Apple said it is so much faster, and they own a software that do video rendering, including 4k that is "heavy load", how come they did not test the machine in such heavy payloads? Which testing they did to declare those cpus are so much faster? Word? Excel? Browsing with Safari? I do love Apple computers, I own a 15 MBP 2017, but those marketing campaigns are the worst. The bad thing is, hardware is very advanced, but the software still is years behind.

Merely suggesting to look around outside the walled garden is seen as blasphemy by some it seems. But I am going off topic here.

they specified conditions on the config page, i guess test machines didnt have the issue.

I have been thinking about ordering an i9 MBP, but the reports of throttling we’re giving me pause. Now that they’ve issued the update, my fears have abated for the most part. I’m going to give it a couple more days to make sure everything is resolved, but I hope to be replacing my 2013 MBP soon.

How about making the laptop thicker and with a better cooling system?
I would rather it be a few mm thicker if it could run cooler, offer longer battery life and better speakers. Good trade off in my opinion. Even though it is a laptop it sits some where. Not like people walk around holding it in one hand and typing with the other

imo at this point, it would need to be a whole lot thicker to significantly more performance.

Also, longer battery life doesn't seem to coincide with your reasons for thickness.

Frankly, this could be super easily solvable with a "screw on bottom" style cooler, you could remove the bottom plate and screw an additional cooling system + extra battery on it.

something like this, but with extra cooling

edit3: could also stick a neat little eGPU in it.

I have tried out many many many many many other products. Which ties right back into what I said about you not knowing me. You don't know my background. You don't know what I have tried and what I haven't. And in all honesty I can say in my 24 years of using Apple products that NOTHING even comes close to the smooth and seamless experience that Apple delivers. Yes Apple makes mistakes. But even with their mistakes they are miles ahead of "the competition".

I have stepped outside this "walled garden" countless times. Every single time is an ugly and cold experience. Microsoft Windows is a disaster IMHO. The hardware that these other companies put out doesn't even come close to the overall quality and feel of a Mac. And this is even with the mistakes Apple make that they get reamed about on pages full of people blasting them. These types of comments really make me think that the people making them haven't REALLY stepped outside the "walled garden" themselves for very long. Had they, they would come running back, as it is clear most do.

Things are not as black and white as you make them. Both worlds are perfectly capable. Just keep an open mind. There is no such thing as an ugly world outside the Apple garden. But hey, do what you like. I am not judging you.

Saw link but did not understand what I was supposed to look at in link.

I have an open mind. Not sure how you keep missing that I have been on both sides of said wall. You act as though I am speaking without having any experience of using competitors products. I have tried them extensively. It’s not pretty. So let’s agree to disagree.

I the part I am pointing at is extremely hot. Got 3 windows open with a few tabs on each window. Bottom of laptop is warm to hot depending on area of laptop. I have the back part raised too so it does not absorb heat but for some reason it still does run hot and use a lot of RAM memory.

Let's wait to see actual testing before jumping to a conclusion. It goes both ways, you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss these tests just because Apple said it was a bug.
Actual testing so far seems to show that its fine
