Apple Says 2018 MacBook Pro Throttling is a Bug, Fix Available Now in New macOS Update

Mac rumors is a circus. Popcorn is almost always required when reading.
It's not like the laptop wasn't working. That would be something pretty hard to find in testing to be honest. They managed to get an update pretty quickly, if it does really fix the problem then I think they did a good job.
If the issue is a bug fix, then it goes to show that Apple's thermal design was sound to begin with.
Absolutely. The big promise here is it won’t perform worse than an earlier model...so I’d call this a complete validation of a legitimate fix.
"...throttle inappropriately" el oh el. Is this the same "bug" Apple had the nerve to blame on user's iPhones and then when caught redhanded tried saying it was a "feature"?
It was proven it was a software bug days ago, with Volta limiting cpu to 55w I was seeing 1200-1300 cinebench scores as opposed to 900-950 before, quite impressed they pushed out the fix so quick hopefully I can uninstall Volta now and reenable SIP
^ 100% this. So many people were freaking out. Apple not caring, returning the laptop because Apple isn't transparent, etc. I hope those people who did return their laptop because Apple didn't respond to their complaints are regretting their decision. You have 2 weeks! At the very least, wait 1 week, if Apple doesn't respond, then fine, return it, no questions asked, $$$ back in your bank account. This throttling issue arose literally a week ago, and Apple responded, in 1 week's time. They even apologized. What more could you want?
Granted, Apple could improve the design, maybe they will take care of that in the next revision. They certainly took care of the keyboard issue, even if they didn't admit to it. So both "gates" - Throttlegate and Keyboardgate appear to have been mitigated now. Can everyone calm down now?

I am pretty sure what this update does is to limit the heat and power consumption.
I really doubt that the MacBook Pro can handle esp. the Core i9 anywhere near its full load.
Still can’t believe that this was only discovered after released to the masses.

A few days ago I suggested on Reddit that this could have been a software issue and I got raked over the coals for it.
okay, can one of the credible testers PLEASE test with the fix and report back?

Apple no longer does proper testing. If it did a huge amount of issues (heyboard, melting screen glue, overheating, throttling, sparking ports, ...) wouldn't never make it to production.

You mean like the people already calling this a hardware issue before anyone had a chance to really understand the problem? LOL!!
People had already declared the product defective AND that Apple knew it and shipped it anyway. AND that Apple doesn’t care about the MacBook.
And I’m pretty sure some people said Apple causes cancer and tells kids Santa isn’t real.

But I thought the issue was a biased YouTube reviewer with millions of "bought" subscribers.
