Do you think they finally noticed the problem of defining which device the user was trying to use when you say "Hey Siri" in a house with more than one Apple product?

I don’t really have a problem with this, although I only have an iPhone and Watch. When I want to speak to my Watch my phone doesn’t respond and vice versa. Every once and a while the Siri screen will pop up on the other device but it usually figures it out and goes away.

That should have been fixed in iOS 11, try it

Probably a good thing. Better take their time to get it right.

Absolutely. It was like the Airpods last year, they were rumored to be delayed due to technical issues. Why release a product if it's going to be incomplete or not ready, might as well make sure it's a successful Product and ready when necessary.

I got the hint when they didn’t mention it at all at the iPhone X event. The new AppleTV4K was launched, AppleWatch 3 was announced, 3 iPhones were launched, they talked about retail... yet total silence about the HomePod. Not even a passing mention.

It’s pretty clear that this isn’t just your straightforward speaker with Siri tacked on. Apple already knows how to produce a Hey Siri product (iPhone) and they know how to produce speakers (iPod HiFi, Beats). This is something different and they’re aiming high, otherwise it would have been released by now. I’m excited to learn more.

Hahaha why did they announce this at WWDC?
It is looking more like a stopgap announcement to slow Echo and Google Home sales. On the other hand, who cares how late it is? They need to get it right out of the gate so I don't care if they need to postpone it until 2019 if it means they'll get it right.

I just hope this delayed release date is more about improving Siri than getting manufacturing in place.

Genuinely peeved. It'll be great, but not sure why the delay. I've been holding out for this bad boy.
Siri the end she is not good enough. They are working on that. Then there are all the iOS issues so now people are shifting to fix that stuff on shipping products

Figured as much when it wasn't talked about at during their iPhone Keynote. Clearly if they had a December date in mind and no October keynote. They would have begun to inform the press during that opportunity of when new hardware could be purchased.

No real loss though, I have yet to ever use Siri.

Hmm...haven’t heard much about the iMac Pro lately. Wonder if that will be delayed too?

That issue has been solved for a while but what will HomePod do in a home with more than one person who wants to use it? Will it feed entirely from one iCloud account so only my playlists, apps and so on are available to whoever is interacting with the HomePod?

Ideally it’d be able to recognise people, either by voice or if they have their iPhone on their person, so if someone creates a reminder or a calendar event through the HomePod then it goes on their own personal reminders or calendar.

Of course it's delayed. Apple hasn't hit a non-date specific launch in the TC era yet.

Honestly, not sure why Apple pre-announced this one in the first place, esp. so far in advance. It's not like it was a ground breaking device that anyone other than an Apple lemming would hold off buying something else. And it just encouraged Amazon and Google to get more aggressive with their own smart speaker marketing. Apple is now that much more behind the proverbial 8-ball here.
