I don't necessarily see a connection here. However, I do find that you seem to despise any criticism towards Apple. That does indicate that you primarily want to put other people and their opinions down and that I do not support.

Apple Says HomePod is Delayed Until Early 2018

There are a lot of us who won't have ANY of these things in their home even ones made by Apple.
It's a bummer, but better they wait then put out something defective. Maybe they bit off more than they can chew in 2017.
Never surprised when Apple announces they are missing their own shipping deadlines.
I'd rather have a product that works right, than get a so-so product early.
Or the same exact so so product, just not created in time for the production scale they wanted to achieve at launch
Please don't skew Steve Jobs quotes and nor are you using the context of his quote appropriately in comparison to a HomePod.
From the music perspective, will be hard to beat Sonos on quality, integration, supported music, and price.

Gutted - I’ve already sold all of my Sonos gear - was hoping to treat myself to 5 Homepods for Xmas....
Because they didn't have anything else to hype. This is becoming sadder each year as the lead time gets longer and longer. Pretty soon Apple will be announcing products a year before they are shipping. Not good enough for me anymore.
It's a developer conference. They need developers to make sure their apps work with SiriKit for HomePod. They missed the lucrative holiday shopping season and are probably pissed about it.

Apple's problems are two fold with Homepod:
1/ Alexa Beats SIRI hands down. (And Google Assistant Beats them both). Until they can organise themselves on this Amazon is going to own the home speaker/assistant market.
2/ It's a hard pill to swallow - the expense. I'm sure the sound is great and so on, but then I can plug in a couple of Echo Dots into my existing speakers, enjoy multiroom sound, and a better assistant, alongside a cheaper music subscription service with the same (<>) 40 million songs to available.
Here's an example:
1 Harmon Kardon Go + Play in each room for superior sound - Around £350
2 Amazon Echo Dots 1 in each room - £100 (Currently £70)
To do even that with two Homepods is going to set me back £600.

Agreed. Love my Sonos system and glad they will be adding support for Airplay 2 in the year ahead. They've done it "right" thus far.
Excited to see what Apple has to offer in their second attempt at a speaker, but this deflates the sails for sure. Sure, glad they are waiting to get it right - just not as enthused 6 months later.
