be it the rate or not it's been so clear and obvious that ios 11 is crap and apple know about the situation of ios 11 they know it's one of their worst release ever with a lot of bugs manifested

One of my devices is on 7.1.2, the most current and final version in iOS 7, and it is certainly much better than iOS 11 in lots of ways in terms of simplicity and in general the cohesive presentation and experience.
Comparing a final release of a particular version to essentially early releases of another major version is apples and oranges at best.

It's interesting how when adoption rates are higher/better various people say that adoption rates essentially say nothing about satisfaction and that things can be fairly bad for many, and then when supposedly the rates are not as good suddenly the interpretation is that it's clearly an indicator of satisfaction and things are crap and there isn't anything else that could be to it. Nice double standard there to fit things to a narrative.

You could use that "apples and oranges" line for any argument you simply just don't have an answer to. iOS 7 is certainly much better than iOS 11, and certainly more polished.

I can’t agree. Not by any measure. If you want polish, 7 doesn’t even strike me as a good benchmark.

It's rather clear to anyone that comparing an early major version to a finished major version is not something comparable. It's something that has been discussed many times over the years here and many other places. There's really no debating that aspect of it.

And if you go back and look through the iOS 7 threads from the same first few months of iOS 7 compare them to iOS 11 threads you will certainly see how that whole "much better" part of it doesn't hold up. You can certainly have your take on it all, but reality speaks for itself.

I use both concurrently. iOS 7 is a much more polished product compared with iOS11. I can make an informed and impartial comparison.
iOS11 should still be in beta.

iOS 7 didn’t start out polished. Anything but. The first release of iOS 7 could be said the same as iOS 11 and 10 and 9 and especially 8; should still be in beta.

This really is not the case. First releases of iOS 7 were very polished. iOS 10 was also polished. iOS 11 certainly is not.

I disagree. The first release of iOS 7 had security holes large enough for a tank along with people complaining about performance. iOS 10 first release was not polished at all. We can agree to disagree however on this.

I don't agree to disagree, because I use both iOS 7 and iOS 11 concurrently.

Based on your statement I do not agree with you. I agree the final version of any o/s is more polished than the released version of the next o/s. But I emphatically dont agree the release version of iOS 7 is better than the release version of iOS 11.

You are still using a 7.0.x version of iOS 7?

They most definitely did not. The iOS 7 forum just here shows that quite well. (iOS 8 or 9, for example, also did not start out well at all.)

The reason iOS adoption rates are so high...

Wish I had stayed on latest 10. Way too many months have passed and I have still no iCloud sync.
So I started to use Google and my NAS for my calendar....maybe for more later.
One can wonder what the heads are doing these days.
Start to feel sorry for the actually good senior I have who call me every Week, to report that either the engineers don’t answer, have no good answer, or answer is wrong
10.11 sucks!

I wish I could get RID OF IT on my iPhone 5s.

It's a complete drag on the phone! Delayed responses, worse camera operation, drains battery faster.

There's no valid technical reason Apple should force this on any iPhone 5s users. :(

iOS 10 still working great on my 7+, too bad there isn't a way to block the auto downloader or turn it off. Wastes space and my limited bandwidth.

As it is on my SE. 10.3.3 is peachy.

too bad there isn't a way to block the auto downloader or turn it off. Wastes space and my limited bandwidth.

There are the steps here to block it from being downloaded:

https://www.imyfone.com/ios-11/how-to-disable-ios-11-software-update-notification/

I have only turned off updates (at the end of that page) and this seemed to work for a month or so. But I just had the prompt again the other day and it was downloaded again. I was able to fob it off by tapping Details and then the home button (this time). I will be doing the domain blocking thang one day very soon to see how that goes.
[doublepost=1517927043][/doublepost]If it doesn't have the Details loophole I would just turn the phone off and on. It was always gone after that.

I am doing and will do everything possible to avoid it, but it feels like I'm on the run from the cops and trying to keep them off my trail, like in a movie. The situation that Apple has put us in....

My 6S is still on iOS 9.3.5

Effing wish those pop-ups about updating could be turned off, though of course that is how they incentivize one to update.

I'm also on 9.3.5 6s and after setting iTunes to stop auto updating, my phone has never prompted me with those annoying pop ups anymore. Just make sure you do that and at the same time if iOS did download it to your iPhone already you need to delete it off your phone in setting > general > manage storage if iOS downloaded to your phone it will show there

In 10.3.3 I have had everything turned off in Settings ->iTunes & App Store. 11 still downloads and prompts me to install. Tonight I had Mirice99's dreaded Now or Later prompt above, no third option escape route at all and I know from other people that Later tells it to install later. It still appeared after turning the phone off and on, so after turning on again I raced into Storage and deleted the update. Phew.

I have just done the domain blocking in my router here:

https://www.imyfone.com/ios-11/how-to-disable-ios-11-software-update-notification/

It was surprisingly quick and easy to do with my Netcomm router which has a blacklist you can add to. Instructions are for another brand. I am no longer able to browse to the URLs, whereas before there was a response from the servers with XML pages saying access denied.

If you do not hear from me again in this thread, that means it has worked. I will not accept iOS 11 without a fight!
