iPhone 6 Plus here running flawlessly and dare I say snappily... on iOS 9.3.5. Not playing the endless iOS bumblebug updates anymore.

I encourage everyone I know to upgrade ASAP. I don’t know if my perspective is skewed because of how bad iOS 11 was or how good iOS 12 is, but it’s one of the few upgrades I think is essential for nearly everyone, from the power user to the geriatric who barely knows how to use their phone.

I’ll trade new features for stability and performance any day of the week. I think Apple finally got the memo that a couple features is fine for your press and interest, but it’s better to limit the number, do them well, and not break things than to release 9 poorly done new things and break the core experience.

Not on my iPad mini 2. I tried to download iOS 12 five separate times, but no go. Said it couldn’t complete the download. My WiFi connection in my house is fine. It gave no reason why. So I guess I am waiting until I buy the next iPad pros until I experience iOS 12.

Smart. iOS 10 and newer really slowed down the 6 series

Ive actually noticed something like that happening when I use Safari on some websites but most work fine. Now that you mention it, how is your text selection. When you push down on a word and you try to select say 3 or 4 lines of text, does it act a little wonky? For me sometimes the cursor will bounce around and select things I didn’t want or will just disappear. It’s kind of a pain in the butt.
Text selection pretty much doesn’t work in Safari on 12.0.1 on my ipad pro 12.9.

Considering how crappy iOS 11 was and the fact you can't go back from 12 to 11, I am very surprised the percentage isn't higher.
Then again, after the mess with iOS 11, maybe it should be lower ...

Apple are very proud of this BUT they made the hugest mistake ever when the iPhone would not connect to iTunes!!! (so no syncing, backing up, transferring files). Having to reinstall iTunes yesterday and then download an extra piece of software is a total blunder by Apple. How the heck did they mis that? Oh yes, they want me to pay a month fee to use iCloud instead.

Thanks to the awesome people on this forum who told be how to sort out this problem! Very bad of Apple to make this blunder though - what the hell where they thinking?

For the issues you see selecting text on MR, it's a xenforo issue. Staff are on it, but it would require xenforo to acknowledge and fix it.

This is because a lot of iPhone users don't have computers or don't want to tether their iPhones to a computer. That's just the way people are today. Apple gives you a choice to still back up to a local computer, what's your complaint?

I have seen great improvement in My iPad mini since I installed iOS 12.
[doublepost=1539294572][/doublepost]I dont remember seing this "Active Devices From Last Four Years" in previous chart.

Ever since Apple forced an awful slow & buggy IOS 11 on my iPhone 5s, I have hated these IOS percentage stories with a passion.

Yes, if you send your iPhone into Apple for a battery replacement, they will send it back without the IOS you sent it to them with. So everyone that Apple has force IOS 12 on is also included in these numbers. :(

No iOS update is forced. It may nag, but you can always elect not to update

Edit: I somehow completely missed the "sent in for battery replacement" part. My bad

This is an improvement, but do question what the connection to app store is?
Is it devices that have downloaded an app? - hopefully not
Is it people who have updated an app? - that one makes sense
But Apple knows what devices are connecting to its network without needing the App store qualification, why not report that also.

It is when you get a device replaced.
It is when your work requires it.

Imagine how many people needlessly bought new phones to accommodate the inefficiencies of prior OS updates. Historically, Apple’s iOS improvements have been too hardware dependent, and this change comes too late for me.

My battery life improved by about 15% after going from 11 to 12 on my iPhone 8...not sure why, but performance is also much better.

As expected, slightly slower animations (1 year old device) but everything is much much smoother. Reminds me of my android days with custom speedy roms, good stuff.

Well, this high a percentage wouldn't be likely on Android devices because that would mean about 2.5B devices would have to be updated with the latest Android OS. So far, I'm sure 8.1 Oreo must be on about 3%-5% of Android devices which is practically amazing. The latest version of Android OS likely reaches about 10%-15% of all Android devices each year. Google should slow down and only introduce a new version of Android OS every two or three years so the number of updated devices would be higher.

Google is really quite fortunate as no one is actually concerned about OS fragmentation. It's completely accepted by users and developers alike. No one even talks about Android OS fragmentation anymore as it's become such a natural thing. All that really matters to Google is having high overall market share percentage and having 5B Android devices in service is no joke. Free Android OS is just killing it as being the dominant mobile OS. No other OS can ever stand a chance of replacing Android OS. Google really has an unbeatable strategy in Android OS.

Since I still have my iP6, I may as well take advantage with the update since it is still available. However, I don't see any performance improvements but at least I don't have to worry about my apps not working improperly.

Yep, kinda annoys me when Apple 'show off' these stats when they're constantly bullying users into updating. I'd figure a good amount of users updated just to get the annoying reminders to stop.

Having said that, iOS 12 is definitely one of their best iOS updates for performance improvements alone.
It's mainly for developers.

Have to admit, as much as I generally like Apple products, I REALLY dislike their nagging me to upgrade every single day. Once is fine. Give me an opt out choice, because I will do it when I want to.
If you delete the downloaded update from your storage it shouldn't really be doing it everyday or even close to it.

It won't be installed on any of mine until
They fix the battery life issue. iOS 11 is working just fine.

What battery life issue? Runs same as iOS 11 on my X.

iOS 12 is the best version of iOS I've ran so far. My iPhone 6 Plus ran it like a champ and my 7 Plus is faster than ever with it. I'm very happy with this release and love seeing it being adopted so quickly in just under a month.

It isn't difficult to get it installed on devices when Apple strong arms and annoys users to the point of frustratingly installing to avoid the constant prodding.
I have no idea what you mean. I've never had the prodding, strong arming, or annoying reminders to update! I frankly don't get this complaint I keep seeing on MacRumors.
