Unless you're American. American iPhone owners have fully bought into the various Apple ecosystems, such as iMessage, and have been indoctrinated to treat competitors like WhatsApp with suspicion and even contempt.

I haven't used the Messages app for literally years. WhatsApp 100% of the time.
