The notch could have been smaller but Apple is saving that for next year.

“This is the most powerful Mac we have ever designed” It contains a smaller cut out for the camera. We think you are going to love it”
Same reason for chin in iMac, they could have easily removed it but hey, let’s not introduce too much innovation at once right?

It still looks bloody awful no matter how they or anyone else tries to spin it. It’s an eyesore. Not everyone likes using dark mode to try and ‘hide’ it either.

When you have to use workarounds via software to try and disguise a hardware design decision then that is bad design. End of story.
So then don’t buy it. It really is that simple. End of story.

Yeah that's the thing, and why I ultimately have no problem with it... if it, ultimately, provides more screen than before, and doesn't actually take anything away from videos, full screen apps etc, (compared to the previous model) then it's fine.

Shame they didn’t make any use of the massive chin. They deleted the tacky MacBook Pro text but just left it blank. Why not also grow the display down? Or did I just leak the plans for MBP2023?
Because if they didn't keep the chin, when the menu bar is black and essentially the notch is hidden, then it would seem like there is a big forehead. The way it is now, when the menu bar is black, the top and bottom bezels look equal.
