The new automatic subtitles feature isn't working for me, even though all options are enabled in Settings.

I bet you to look up about what precisely I'm asking. I'm talking about Bitstream Support, not lossless Audio per se.

What I'm asking for is Bitstream Support. This is a neccessity to enable Dolby Atmos/DTS-X Height Channels. Those in fact get cut off completely. So your statement might be true about the discussion of the usefullness of losless audio in itself, but the context is a little bit different when complete audio channels get erased from existince.

The only reason that Apple might not offer it yet, is that no Streaming Provider offers support for it right now, but that does no longer make any sense, since they added it to MacOS this year.
I know what you meant. Use a receiver and another device like a normal audiophile.

I work in IT (operations) for a huge marketing/advertising company. If I were to get 15 people with an iPhone in a room, I would have no issue asking them what new features any release has and half of them wouldn't even know there was a new release and the other 6 or 7 might know one or two new features. The amount of convos I have had where users ask me about a problem only for me to show them their iPhone could already do it (probably for years already). It also doesn't help announcing a feature 9 months in advance and expect the average user to remember what that feature was when it finally updates. So, doing quick little marketing vids throughout the year instead of one BIG drop makes more sense to me to keep the features relevant as they are released. When AI is available next year, I feel very confident that almost no average user will know (or care) that they were updated with new features. They just want to take pictures/video for Insta or Snap and complain about Boomers.
Right, the average user doesn't care about every little feature. Hence, the big features (AI all-the-things!) and events count. They need to get press to get through to the most amount of people. No one would watch a marketing video throughout the year unless it somehow goes viral. It's just not happening.

And yes, pre-announcing features is also bad because the same thing then will happen. People will hear about the feature at the event but it's not going to be available at launch. So they forget about it and later in the year when it's actually made available, people don't even notice.

The only way to be most effective is by holding press events but then also delivering on the features that were announced. Apple generally had done this fairly well but in recent times, they have started slipping.

Surprised to see 21:9 support. Will have to try it on my monitor. All displays should be at least 21:9 by now.

There has been so little changes in tvOS over the last maybe 6 years, I'm kind of wondering how big the tvOS Software team is ?

2 people ?

That would be the only explanation as to why they didn't deliver every new feature yet...

All of this not available at launch (even though the features have been talked about extensively at the Keynote) from Apple is really starting to piss me off. Don't announce the feature etc until it's ready to launch, especially when you are promoting the feature/s heavily on a new product announcement :mad::mad:.

Following apple’s fashion nowadays, I’m formerly announcing that all my university homeworks are looking beyond amazing but will be delivered in some 2025 date.

Is anyone going to install the new beta to see if Snoopy shows up?

Nope, tvOS is one where beta's don't hit my devices until the RC comes out and is seen as stable by the public. I see them as production machines for my eyeballs and I don't want to have to putz around trying to figure out why something isn't working. It's bad enough Top Shelf is no longer working for the ATV app. I used it all the time.

Did Tim rip all of the engineers out of Apple TV to scramble to work on Apple Intelligence?

These delayed updates are like an auto company unveiling a new car but the tires will be added later!

This whole features won’t be available at launch thing has very much jumped the shark. Not just with Apple either. Maybe don’t announce them if they’re not going to be ready at launch?
We are getting one major release of OS a year (tied to phone releases) so basically they are timelining a year of updates.

While everyone might like every new feature on Day 1, it's better the release things when ready than torush and get bugs. And egg on face...

The Apple TV will work just fine until new features are added.

It's nothing like a car having no wheels... geez

I hate to say it but this is becoming more and more common in the last few years.

Apple announce all their tentpole features for the next iteration of the OS in June - it goes into a 3 month beta/public beta programme for general release in September....

..... but more and more features are just not present in the first release - or the second.....

And in some cases we don't get features until .3 or .4 which come in March or April the following year just 2 months before the NEXT version is announced.

There is a fair bit of frustration this year that Apple Intelligence isn't ready when the new iPhones are delivered - and indeed won't be in its entirety until well into 2025. Personally it stopped me upgrading the phone this time because what's the point when, by the time the features I was promised are released, the phone will be 7-8 months old already.

Surely it would be better for Apple to not announce features that WONT be ready for the .0 release in September or .1 at the latest.
you shouldnt base your phone upgrade on a feature list.

phones are designed to last two or more likely three years these days before there's any need to update.
Do it for the aging hardware not the software on offer.

I think you are missing the point of people's frustrations. Apple announces new software for a new phones that are coming out in a couple days - and these new phones can't even do most of the new features they've talked about.
It's not a matter of Apple rolling out software that isn't ready for release - the concern is why they announce all these features that won't be available for several months.
What if Tesla announced they're building a brand new model...and you can buy that car today! And then Tesla said they can give you the car now but the wheels are still in production and won't be available until next year. That's basically what we're griping about on these posts.

We have a Tesla and let me tell you even Tesla engineers laugh about the "visual" wiper controls not working.

Your continued argument about cars and wheels is plain silly.
An Apple TV works now. Without new software. A car without wheels wont drive off the showroom floor so please stop using it. Its NOTHING like what you are griping about ;)

So why is Snoopy being delayed? I can understand if it was a useful feature, but we're talking about a wallpaper. How hard is it to make new wallpapers.

priority? just thought about it? an opportunity to promote an Apple TV show?

they mentioned it and now people are discussing it... good or bad, that's worth money.
"there's no such thing as bad publicity" as they say...
"better to be talked about than ignored..."
