Perhaps this is a new nightmare before Christmas.

I too don't get this ad. I never would have associated Frankenstein's monster with the holidays. Why is he singing "Home for the Holidays" when he just left his home? Why not "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" or "White Christmas"? I'm all for the idea of inclusiveness, but this is one of the strangest ads I've ever seen.

I saw this ad for the first time today and actually really liked it. First I'd associate the Monster with Halloween more than Christmas so that was an unusual but catchy visual choice for the main subject. I thought "Home for the Holidays" was appropriate actually. I think the Monster came from the village below but had been chased out of town and feeling lonely so returned to the town that was his home at one point.

Shocked no one has made the connection of this video to another beloved Christmastime story. This is very much paying homage to my favorite holiday tale since childhood, The Grinch (and I absolutely loved the Jim Carrey movie version). The Grinch lived on the mountain top above Whoville and longed admittedly for human companionship and friendship. And it was little Cindy Who who reached out to the Grinch to extend friendship and goodwill. Enter the little town girl who fixes his holiday light (I personally loved whoever came up with sticking light bulbs in his neck) and joins him in song, inspiring the whole town to join in. Nice message, nice nod, and clever twist of a beloved Suess tale. Barely noticed he used an Apple device to record and back the music as I was totally into seeing what the Monster video was about. This little video tale caught my attention and yes even my heart at the end. Very appropriate video for Christmas time.

So was Milner, EJ a reference to a professor at Oxford on Biodiversity? Would make sense I guess. Also the package came to him from best I can make out Shelly's Filaments...a nod to Mary Shelley. Also noticed Mary Shelley's framed portrait hanging on Frankie's cabin wall. Apple's message "Open Your Heart to Everyone" certainly applies to The Grinch (Monster) who when he let in Cindy Who and the town folk in had his heart grow. All nice touches.

Apple has shared a new TV ad called "Frankie's Holiday" in time for the holiday season, accompanied with the tagline "open your heart to everyone."

In the ad, Frankenstein's monster brings a package with ornaments to a town square and starts singing "Home for the Holidays" by Perry Como on his iPhone. While he initially shocks the large group of people in the town, a young girl urges Frankenstein to come forward, and everyone joins along in singing with him.

Frankenstein's monster is portrayed by Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garrett, who stands 6'8" tall.

This is a great FAQ about the holiday commercial. I answers everything I wanted to ask about this well done advert.
