Yeah im disappointed ios 10.3.3 is razor sharp this should be better not slower

The issue is each release has different problems for different people. iOS 10.3.3 has been awful for me, my battery life took a HUGE dive with it, 3-4% loss in less than an hour with the phone just sitting on a table. With iOS 11 still being in beta and tweaks being made it should be expected that things go wonky, it's a beta after all. 10.3.3 should not be draining battery like that though, that's just not acceptable but .. it's the world we live in.

Has the iPhone version adopted the iPad's swipe up/up to access the app switcher yet? Or still requiring double home button tap to get there?

Definitely the unlock on iPhone 7 using Touch is much slower. It takes like 2 seconds to unlock!! ( bug already reported).

You do realize you are trying to compare the performance of development software with intact debugging routines to a more optimized release version, right? Or do you STILL not understand that? And there are many of us that differ with your assessment that the changes in IOS 11 are not worthwhile.
History tells me things won't change much even without debug stuff in it. Not the the first time you know.

Maybe the software will be better tested with less bugs than normal? I wouldn't bet on it however....

Funny story. I took my 7 in to the local Apple Store post-10.3.3 and asked them to test the battery. In 10 minutes, sitting in front of the tech, the battery dropped 19 percent while on WiFi and with no apps running. The phone also got hot enough that I probably could have used it to cook food. The tech ran his tests and said everything was OK, that is was normal behavior because my phone's charge capacity was down to 83%, and that the timing was merely coincidental because it could not be related to 10.3.3 since 10.3.3 was only a security update that did not do anything to hardware. (It was at this point that I began having fun and got moved up through the Genius ranks.)

Back on topic - anyone having an issue where Exchange servers aren't syncing right with iOS 11 or that notifications (particularly iMessages and Text Messages) are self-clearing from the lock screen within about 1 second of presenting on the lock screen?

1. It's a beta

2. I ask you, was 10.0.0b faster than what we have now!?

"It's a beta" only works for so long. We are near the finished product and it surely doesn't feel like it, at least on the iPhone side of things.

The point being made is that it shouldn't take another 4 months or more to get back that responsiveness and performance. Why does it feel like some kind of rewrite every year when people have issues even with most trivial of things.

For me, one of the last remaining major new issues is iPhone frequently failing to respond to sleep/wake. It happens about once a day and I consider that a show stopper.

This is the reason I stay away from beta OS versions. If you're a developer then it's obviously necessary. For everyone else especially using it on their primary device, it's just asking for problems when 10.3.3 is a perfectly stable release. 7 plus battery life is really the best it's ever been on an iPhone. Besides the stable release is just 2 weeks away.

On another note: I think I will leave my iPad Air on 10.3.3. It only has an A7 with a gig of ram and iOS 11 will probably make a useable device unusable. Might leave my backup 6 (non-plus) on 10.3.3 also. Even though it has an A8 the gig of ram is again the bottleneck. Battery life will definitely drain faster and performance won't be the same since iOS 11 is really designed for devices with 2-4 GB ram in mind. I still remember ruining a perfectly usable 3G updating it to 4.0 right away before waiting for user feedback. Apple has never crippled a device that badly again but I definitely learned my lesson.

Seems to me the both of you should be software engineers.

Writing code is extremely complex, there's no such thing as a bug free OS, some bugs gets squashed, some new will arise.

I’m on public beta on my iPad Pro and have random instances where I tap and nothing happens or I’m unable to scroll in Safari. I hope this text beta fixes that.
yea...on my Ipad PRO, I am having screen rotation issues, facetime video not picking up calls, Airplay not showing up, Home app losing connection and requiring an airplane on/off so that automation works - reported all this but I don't know how many more betas will be posted before GM

That's the idea but in the past they have found last minute bugs and had to make another build for release.
How did they test it though ?

People get too hung up on this stuff.... Isn't the smart rule to never download/install any iOS X.0.0 release and wait for X.0.1 ? It usually only takes a few days.

I have the EXACT same issues with my battery life on 10.3.3
That and also Bluetooth connection issues STILL between my car audio and home audio

That's not how betas work. It's not necessarily a step-by-step progression toward completion--they often take steps backward in polish as features are added and removed. As bug reports are filed, Apple will internally determine the most efficient path for its teams to develop fixes, and, often, a given fix won't be finished in time for inclusion in the next released beta. Over time, the number of known bugs tends to increase, since the hardest-to-fix bugs won't be squashed until closer to release day. Point being, you can't assume that there's a linear path toward being a polished firmware. That's just not how software development works.

As always: the only stable release will be the GM and you can't intuit final build quality from the stability of the betas.

Probably because OSs in general have to be completely rewritten from scratch.

Yes, I am seeing that issue where the text messages are self-clearing from the screen. I am hoping that this new beta will correct that issue. Also been having a couple of weird glitches where the status bar overlaps itself for a bit or takes longer than it should to appear so there is a blank space there temporarily. I am using an iPhone 6 Plus. Cannot wait to upgrade to the new "iphone 8" version. I really should have upgraded before no but didn't see any compelling reason to upgrade, still wouldn't necessarily bother but the speed improvements and new battery life will be most welcomed. Also am looking very very forward to "FaceID" because TouchID constantly pisses me off. I get the smallest amount of sweat or oily-ness on my thumb/finger and I might as well just use the passcode every time. I am putting high hopes on accurate and fast "FaceID".

After it's a beta, it becomes a buggy .0 initial release, then it becomes a slightly less buggy .0.1 release, and a few months later becomes a pretty good .1 release. About a year later it becomes a great and stable .3.5 or whatever release..and then it dies an early death to make way for the next buggy mess.

Wow I’m surprised no one has asked about the App Store icon yet. I’m assuming it hasn’t changed.
