I'm sorry, I have so much animation lag it's ridiculous. Invoking multitasking has random, inconsistent dropped frames. Going from portrait to landscape sometimes renders my phone useless requiring me to lock, then unlock my phone to fix it. The music app is a literal nightmare, using 3d touch to peak into a playlist is like a steady 10fps. along with a plethora of other issues. I really don't understand what happened with iOS but the overall "Butteriness" of it is slowly dying. If you've only used iPhone since iOS 7 onward, than you probably think nothing of it. Having used iOS since 3.0, it's sad to see. iOS 6 on the iPhone 5 was by far the smoothest experience I have ever had on a phone. Also, I know it is a beta and what installing a beta entails. This is not a major release, these are refinements of iOS 10 so performance should be getting better not worse/same. My fiances 6s actually seems snappier and more fluid then my 7 plus, which is a whole other topic. I don't know wtf apple did the the 7 and 7 plus but there is certainly something off about speed/animations.

"devastating"? What device? Not seen anything devastating on iP6s from any of the betas.

Yeah well that was the thought Monday too when 14C82 (beta 4) dropped with no small letter. Guess not :) But I would suspect it is unless something turns up in the next few days. Who really knows tho, we may get beta 6 Monday or next week.

On my iPhone 6 it would take anywhere from 5-25 seconds for text to appear on the screen. Happened in Messages, Safari, and any other App that could receive text input. It was the worst. Glad it seems to have gone away on PB5.

I will say I'm not sure what you're referring to at all in terms of lag. I can understand a little bit on the peeking into playlists, does seem unusually slower than the rest of the phone. However, I can rotate my phone back and forth multiple times, and no issue at all. I can remember on iOS 9.x betas, there used to be TERRIBLE lag when rotated into landscape, and using force touch actions. No such issues here on my 7+, things still seem very snappy.

I don't know if it's the new A10 trying to balance power/battery life or what. The fact that this is allegedly the "fastest" smartphone on the planet, yet I see no performance gains over the 6S. In some cases, the 6s seems faster....can't figure it out.

Well, that might be ok for someone that doesn't have a very large collection of CD's that want ripped and added to your phone. iTunes is the only means to do that. I am not going to pay apple again for songs I have already purchased or new songs I purchase on the OUT DATED CD platform. Also, I am giving apple any of my money to back those up in the cloud either, especially before I take my phone into the apple store for work to be done one it. I already paid for hard drive space on my computer, why would I want to give more money away to apple? But, I get your point as well, for me iTunes is needed and for the rest of my family as well.

Then don't complain. My music library is reaching over 120gb at this point and I pull it down over a night or two while I sleep. The only things I use iTunes for at this point is complete, local backups (usually done bi-annually), restores to new phones, and for a backup of apps as there are several that I use that are no longer on the App Store.

I really wish Apple would stop letting the public run the beta software because of all these "my phone isn't working perfectly" comments. Of course its not, the software in in BETA with diagnostic tools running.

120GB wow, how many songs do you have. I assume a lot of the size is due to lossless?

If you really want to do in depth, this guy goes into great detail, some of his issues have been resolved but most are still present.

Actually, I have no idea at this point anymore. iOS doesn't appear to give a song count (or they've hidden it). And no not lossless. I rip my CDs at 256kbps and my iTunes downloads are whatever Apple sets them to. 256kbps AAC, I think.

My point was that (while my collection is nowhere near the size of some of my friends) I can pull down a lot of music in a relatively short timespan via iTunes in the Cloud.

As an added perk, I have access to my entire library on all of my devices.

Why have I not been able to update my iPhone to the last three betas? It downloads, and fails to verify. Gives no indication as to why. The crummy 16 GB iPad mini does it, not the iPhone 6.

I skimmed this, and will be looking more into this. Thank you for this! I wasn't aware so much was going wrong, may not have noticed it all on my own personal device.

You have to have a somewhat keen attention to detail to catch this stuff. I would say that majority of users probably don't notice.

I had that a few times on my iPad Pro. I just ended up quitting the last few apps that I had used and that fixed it. Never did figure out what triggered it though.

Ah, so it's android's fault :) (Presumably you could use iCloud photo syncing in the photos app to sync it that way, anyway?)

Well, that's an option if I wanted to pay for iCloud storage. We're talking XX gigs of pics/vids.

I don't know wtf apple did the the 7 and 7 plus but there is certainly something off about speed/animations.

There was definitely a big change in the graphics driver and/or CPU scheduling in the 7 and 7+ that hurt animation smoothness. It's particularly noticeable in the Music app, and in third party apps like Tweetbot.

I mentioned this in another post, but one key piece of evidence that this is related to CPU scheduling is as follows: When the CPU is busy, for example when you are installing updates in the background, the animations become a LOT smoother. I even noticed it today when I told it to update; when it was "Preparing update" my phone felt a great deal faster in certain apps.

There is some sort of power saving mode that is causing dropped frames. It really hurts the cosmetic user experience on the iPhone 7 series. The phone is still extremely usable and great, but I really think they should fix this issue because it makes the 7 SEEM slower than the 6s even though it's really much faster.

(edited to fix typos and wording, sigh)

Can anyone confirm if the bluetooth dropping out issue on AT&T phones is fixed?

Are we really going to do this until eternity? Installing endless buggy OS updates that keep us scurrying around like frantic mice until we drop from exhaustion. I'm already exhausted.
