Best beta so far. Very fluid and smooth, battery seems more stable too.

yea that 36 megabyte update did the trick, they must've been cracking the whips this weekend at apple for them to make such an improvement over Fridays beta release. /s

Mine seemed to load on my 12.9 first gen ok, but i wasnt really paying attention to it. Went through each step and asked me for my passcode.

One thing i did notice - after i reconnected my Pencil, when i used it to type on the keyboard (hunt and peck with pencil can be faster than fingers), i was getting double character entries for each tap. Lliittllee weird...

Got it going somehow. Pressed the home button then power button. Now it's updating. Not sure if Apple fixed it or I found a workaround.

It can't come soon enough. Hopefully it fixes the battery problems on all three of my iOS devices. My iPad Air 2 went from 60% to 1% in a few hours this morning and I hadn't even touched it.

No issues installing new macOS and iOS betas, but some screwy **** going on with Bonjour detecting AppleTVs and TimeMachine Servers, etc.

And we are getting sick of people like you defending them when iOS 11 release is an absolute nightmare for everything it's installed on.
Perhaps because it's not even close to an absolute nightmare for everything (or even close to everything) it's installed on? No defending needs to be even involved just to get the actual reality right.

That said, the post you replied to didn't even have much to do with any of that either.

Update for people having issues installing Beta 5, it now seems to be working. Just got it installed on my iPad Mini with Public Beta 5 now installing Dev Beta 5 on my iPhone 7+

Perhaps between not as many people using the calculator often and/or the majority of those don't tap fast enough to encounter the issue it can make it of lower priority compared to some other things. Or the change causing it all is elsewhere that is making the fix more complex and risky so far. Again, potential possibilities.
Yeah thats it. Since not that many people use the calculator its not that big a deal if it doesn't provide accurate results for the ones that do use it. :) JK but do you realize how kooky that is? In what world (other than Apples) is it ok for a calculator, in the year 2017, to not work 100%? LOL

But it does work, it just can get into a weird state when used quickly. It doesn't mean there isn't a problem there with the keys in the sense of how fast they can respond due to animation, but the calculator does work. It also doesn't mean that it's not something that shouldn't be addressed, or that it shouldn't have been addressed by now. Simply going through potential possibilities of what might be in play in all of it.

then it doesn't work 100%, reread his post slowly.

I am not saying you are trying to defend it, but there is no defense of this calculator mess. I've read your posts in the calculator app is useless thread

imagine if entering a phone number using the keypad performed like the calculator, numbers do get entered quickly there

No I'm sorry. If you cannot enter numbers and KNOW its going to calculate the correct results it doesn't work. Now I will give you that you can press the buttons and things do happen in some random fashion so in that since I suppose yeah it works. But by definition of what a calculator is meant to do it simply doesn't so don't try and spin that one. Believe it or not this time you are just wrong :) (I know its hard to accept ;).)

Bottom line if its not a priority or they dont want to fix it then it should just be removed like the iPad. More importantly though is just a sample of some of the silly stuff that has been part of iOS 11.0 and reported on for 20 revisions now, and still exist and this one is such that the app is 100% useless if it cannot be counted on to do its job. Email stops or slow, OK can live with that until it refreshes, a frame drop upon 3D touch menu, annoying but not that big a deal. Home button that has .5 second more delay than the previous iOS, well OK I will blink and not notice it so much, a calculator that adds 1+2+3=23 sometimes (anytime) is 100% broken and useless. HAHA. But seriously I really am not stressing over the calculator. More the fact that these issues were reported on beta 1 and Apple has done little for any of it in 20 releases (yeah the 3D frame drop only took 19 builds I know)

Again, no spin was provided and nothing was defended or anything of the sort. Just going through the possibilities given that people seem to say they can't imagine what those might even be. Now, people can certainly disagree with the possibilities and all that.

That said, the whole thing about "But seriously I really am not stressing over the calculator." kind of plays into it all, since if it was in fact something impactful, like the suggested imagined similar issue with the dial pad or something like that, then many people would in fact be seriously stressing over it (which is the kind of thing that can end up relating to priority and all of that).

I know but I suspect there are folks out there that do use it a lot and do rely on it working correctly. And neither was the 3D touch frame drop and the weather widget issue. But none of those things actually effected anything like the cal app does. Anyway we have beat this to death and its not going to change anything, it is what it is. Just seems these sorts of things should get better attention from the powers to be. Maybe they will fix it someday.

Agreed.

So while the whole iPhone user population is waiting for speed and battery life .... what is Apple doing: create an 11.1 update whose most notewhorthy item is a bunch of new emoji ... Apple lost their way now they ran out of whatever guidance and visions Steve left behind. iPhone X marks the end of the iPhone/iOS era.

How is iOS 11.1 for iPhone 6? Have they fixed the lag with opening up camera and the keyboard typing delay?

1 + 2 + 3 = 24.

It doesn't work.

I'm not sure why you keep pushing the reality distortion field. You work for Apple?

Not sure why people can't read what's actually written and instead try to spin things to fit something of their own.

You keep insisting it works, but it doesn't. Stop downplaying the issue. And you keep emphasizing it happens when you type at "quickly". The bug can be easily replicated when typing normally, not just quickly, see video below.

Delete beta profile and then download it again and beta5 will install
No, that wasn't the issue - IMO if you don't know, don't guess or you're wasting our time. I called Apple and asked what was causing the "loop", using my dev account credentials. Apple's activation servers were not working properly - their servers are now working properly, the issue with the installation/certification of their profiles has been resolved.

Beta 4 was GM. This is an emergency fix to resolve the issue wherein the user would type a new emoji and it would be blank, I’m sure.

Expect iOS 11.1 to drop to the public this week, probably Wednesday or Thursday. Tomorrow is wishful thinking.

From what I've seen I honestly don't expect it to be pushed until October 1st at least.

It is true though. It depends on the speed you type. Not that it isn't an issue that does need fixed of course but I've been on all the 11.1 betas and use my calculator almost daily and didn't see the issue until I saw somebody else mention it. I'd be typing in dollar amounts with enough type looking back and forth on an app it didn't continuously type and mess up.
